RACE TWO

OUR UNCLE JIM (5) was 1st up since joining the Trent Dawson barn last start when finding the 1x1 trail from gate 4 over this trip. Making the closing play, he cruised up, went past and powered home to a big 12m victory. With the benefit of that run and regaining confidence, he can arrive again here.

ONLY IN ROME (3) found his race over the AP 2138m 2 starts back and after leading them up tried to pinch it in the closing panel only to be worried out of it by ITZ MY GENERATION. Forced to toil outside the leader last start, he has early speed and landing in prominent position can challenge.

MEGA STAR (7) faces a tricky gate here and might look to get off the inside at the earliest convenience. Too strong for them last start despite working hard in the run, he is right in the fight.

TAKITIMU EXPRESS (1) loves the inside passage and from this gate will be locked away and probing the gaps. He couldn’t go with them last start over the 2040m, but with the right trip here is a place hope.

SELECTIONS: OUR UNCLE JIM (5), ONLY IN ROME (3), MEGA STAR (7), TAKITIMU EXPRESS (1)
SUGGESTED BET: OUR UNCLE JIM (5) to win

RACE THREE

DANCINGINTHEDARK (3) was a winner over the 1780m trip here 4 starts back when sent straight to the front and after a steady opening half, had them chasing in vain in a 27.9 closing panel. Runner-up in all 3 starts since that victory, she could not fight them off last start. This is her chance to atone.

HIGH ON MONTANA (8) found his race last start when sent to the post a short-priced elect over the 2040m. Not disappointing the favourite backers, he was too strong for them in scoring a comfortable 6m victory. Closing nicely for 3rd here 3 starts back, he can be making a late play again here.

WANJIRU (6) was sent to the front over the 2040m last start and once in control kept them chasing all the way to claim a 4m victory. The wide gate is a stinger here, but she can look to feature.

IMA REGAL JET (5) started from the 2nd line last start when chasing home behind WANJIRU to claim the silver. Too far back behind the in-form BREACH THE BEACH the start prior, he can chime in here.

SELECTIONS: DANCINGINTHEDARK (3), HIGH ON MONTANA (8), WANJIRU (6), IMA REGAL JET (5)
SUGGESTED BET: DANCINGINTHEDARK (3) to win

RACE FOUR

TOO GOOD FOR YOU (3)
started from inside the 2nd line last start when locked away and searching for gaps when 6m in arrears of the winner WANJIRU. Too strong after circling them from the 2nd line here 3 starts back, he can look to press forward here and if finding the front will take stitching.

MUCHO GUAPA (8) was only a half-neck from the winner and in-form MEGA STAR last start after making a closing dive to get close. Finishing hard from this gate 2 starts back when only 5m from BETTOR SPORT, she will strip fitter from the latest outing following a let-up and can challenge.

TEARAWAY DIAMOND (9) was banished to the trials last time he went around, despite still only finishing within 1.5m of the winner. With some smart efforts to earn the return, the gate stings.

GHOST GUM (2) made the most of the lamp lighting duties last start after being sent straight to the front from this gate over the sprint trip. Firing off the gate, taking cover might be the play over the 2040m.

SELECTIONS: TOO GOOD FOR YOU (3), MUCHO GUAPA (8), TEARAWAY DIAMOND (9), GHOST GUM (2)
SUGGESTED BET: TOO GOOD FOR YOU (3) to win

RACE FIVE

MISTER DECORUM (3) was freshened following his outing over the AP 2138m trip when not that far from the flying FOUR STARZZZ FORSA. Returning here last time out when powering over the top of them from the 2nd line to a smart win, he can look for a repeat effort from the improved gate.

HESLUVABLE (7) eased from gate 4 here 3 starts back to look for the poles and some short-cuts in transit. Finding himself shuffled back, he made a good impression in the stretch when7m from the winner STORM GILBERT. Requiring a rub of the green, if he can get that slice of luck, he can strike.

FORBIDDEN FEELINGS (1) resumes from a freshen to line up for Doug Manger for the 1st time. Eased from gate 7 last start over the AP 2138m trip, he was down the line behind FOUR STARZZZ FORSA. From the gate he stays under notice in this line-up.

PATCHWORK JET (4) faces a sticky gate here and may need to do some work at some point of proceedings here. Easing from gate 5 when chasing behind WANJIRU last time, he is a podium hope.

SELECTIONS: MISTER DECORUM (3), HESLUVABLE (7), FORBIDDEN FEELINGS (1), PATCHWORK JET (4)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE SIX

MAKINMEFEELGOOD (3) has lined up in the D W Graham silks on 3 occasions, the bridesmaid on 2 occasions. Sent forward from gate 6 last start he worked hard to get up outside the leader and was in for the fight when 5m in arrears of the winner. He looks to have found his race to chalk up a win.

DOWNTOWN LUCCA (9) rolled forward before receiving cover last start but could not go on with it when down the line behind GHOST GUM. Starting fav, the start prior, he was 4m in arrears of the winner when he just needed the space a fraction sooner. Despite a sticky gate, this is within reach.

MANOFLISA (1) was an all the way winner here 2 starts back when holding them wide from this same gate and holding on for a half-neck victory. Working home wide out last start, he has options.

FAIREACHDAINN (7) has been freshened since her last appearance when down the line after being sent out as the fav. A winner at 2 of her previous 4 starts, she can probe for the gaps to offer here.

SELECTIONS: MAKINMEFEELGOOD (3), DOWNTOWN LUCCA (9), MANOFLISA (1), FAIREACHDAINN (7)
SUGGESTED BET: MAKINMEFEELGOOD (3) to win

RACE SEVEN

There are a few races on this card that look open contests and will be decided by tempo and luck in running. This is no different and while ITS YOU NOT ME (3) is winless since February, he might just have conditions to suit here. Buried away last start, he was not suited in the breeze over the AP mile 2 starts back. He is worth a chance in the race 7 lottery.

TILDALYN (8) has placed in 3 of her past 5 starts, the latest when runner-up along the passing lane. Holding the trail from inside the 2nd line, she used the inside runs to be 2m in arrears of BETTOR MEMORIES. Closing strongly 2 starts back, with the right run in transit she can throw down a challenge.

ROCK THE HOUSE (6) has no favours from the carpark but might appreciate this level of contest. Unable to make any closing ground last start behind NOR WESTA, he was wide the start prior and is a podium chance here.

STAR OF WONDER (1) is approaching 2 years since his maiden breaking win, but looks set to enjoy a cosy trip in behind the speed here. Tough in holding on for 3rd 4 starts back, he can be thereabouts.

SELECTIONS: ITS YOU NOT ME (3), TILDALYN (8), ROCK THE HOUSE (6), STAR OF WONDER (1)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-3-6-8

RACE EIGHT

DARTESIAN (7) was buried in the run 2 starts back and was soon too far out of the ground to be a factor. He faded last start after what seemed an economical trip and it may be a forgive effort. With the likelihood he is coiled in the snipers seat, he can make the closing shot a winning one.

FORTYFIVE ROCK (1) set the tempo last start but could not see it out and faded out. This looks a more suitable assignment as he looks for an elusive maiden breaking win and having shown good speed off the arm in recent starts can look to hold them out and will be gripping on in the stretch.

WRITEABOOUTCHELSEA (9) took on much tougher opponents at AP 2 starts back when repelling the challenge to lead before fading from the sharp tempo. Beaten by gate 6 last start, this looks more suitable.

MOLLIGUANNA (8) ended up back in the pack last start at Marburg when trying to find position. Locked away her 2 back, she can look for the pegs here to chime in during the closing stages.

SELECTIONS: DARTESIAN (7), FORTYFIVE ROCK (1), WRITEABOOUTCHELSEA (9), MOLLIGUANNA (8)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE NINE

BETTOR MEMORIES (6) will need to overcome the tough gate here but looks to have the class to accomplish that feat. Returning from a spell in top order when taking them all the way to break the maiden tag, she was then too strong from the breeze last start. The three-peat is on.

ALLY PINK (4) started from gate 3 last time out when finding the running line before not having the smoothest passage behind BETTOR MEMORIES. Locked away from inside the 2nd line here 2 runs back when chiming in for the bronze, she strikes the right race to be in the finish.

LANOCH BOY (8) has been to the track 3 times since returning from a spell and should find this much easier than what he has faced since the resumption. Down the line behind MONTANA LAD last start, he has podium claims.

CARIBBEAN ROCKET (5) eased from this gate last start and from back in the pack never really had a decent crack at them. Grabbing the bronze, the start prior, this looks a race where he can feature.

SELECTIONS: BETTOR MEMORIES (6), ALLY PINK (4), LANOCH BOY (8), CARIBBEAN ROCKET (5)
SUGGESTED BET: BETTOR MEMORIES (6) to win
