RACE TWO

Forced to do all the heavy lifting from the second line last week, the effort of CRUNCH TIME (3) in taking one last dive on the line to be only a half-neck from BLACKSADANCE was huge. That followed a monster run from gate 10 when pressing on to take control and brutalise his opponents in a 25m victory. A move to the front line looks ideal.

COLT THIRTY ONE (9) was surprisingly gunned down up the passing lane when walking them here 2 starts back over the 2138m with the race turned into a 200m showdown. Easing from gate 6 over the sprint trip last week, he was sectionally strong in chasing down to be just 1m from the winner. He can press through here and with another cold sit be ready to strike.

MAYWYNS BEST (2) was not suited from gate 6 here last week and unable to find a spot was forced to snag back. Settled near the rear he was always facing a task. An all the way winner 2 back, he can fire out early to feature in this.

OUR UNCLE SAM (8) turned back the clock here last week to overturn a 2021 drought. Sitting in the running line from gate 9, he made the closing shot a winning one to arrive in the last stride. He can get off the pegs early here to chime in.

SELECTIONS: CRUNCH TIME (3), COLT THIRTY ONE (9), MAYWYNS BEST (2), OUR UNCLE SAM (8)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE THREE

Completely luckless last start when searching for a gap that never opened, WE SALUTE YOU (8) went to the line only 8m from the winner but never seeing daylight. That was his first outing following a freshen, his previous start when clashing with the hype horse SPIRIT OF ST LOUIS. He looks set for the ideal trip here and can be coiled, ready to strike.

THE DEMOCRAT (1) fired off the arm from gate 4 here to lead last start and kept them running all the way in claiming a new career PB in landing the prize. From this gate there is no reason he cannot fire out again and with the speed on try to out gun them from the front end.

ROYAL AURORA (3) started from this gate last start in a mid-week event when finishing 4th after WATCH PULP FICTION blew the race apart down the back stretch. Closing in nice order when 2.5m from BOMBADIER JUJON here 2 starts back, he can be just in behind the speed ready to strike.

AT WEST POINT (5) pressed ahead to take control over the sprint trip last week in Veteran’s grade and setting the speed could not hold off the charging VINNY CHASE. He will be getting forward here to feature.

SELECTIONS: WE SALUTE YOU (8), THE DEMOCRAT (1), ROYAL AURORA (3), AT WEST POINT (5)
SUGGESTED BET: WE SALUTE YOU (8) to win

RACE FOUR

Knocking on the door of victory, ROCK FISHERMAN (10) will need some factors in his favour here but can look to spring the upset. Pressing ahead to take control last start, it was only the superior CAPTAIN CRUSADER that was able to beat him home. With the right cart into the contest, he can reel them in.

GOVERNOR JUJON (6) makes his first 4YO appearance with his last outing back in December when a beaten favourite behind WILL THE WIZARD. That had followed successive wins over the 2138m, defeating BLACKSADANCE on each occasion. It is never easy returning in Saturday night company and while he is the best horse in the field, is he forward enough to overcome gate 6 first up.

FIRST STRING (11) is better suited when up on the engine and might be looking to make an early move to get near the pointy end. Forced to grind it out when parked last start, he was able to see it out and can feature again.

KING TRITON (9) is another with waiting to burst through for a victory but may need to wait another week for the right event. Buried from inside the 2nd line last start when 2.5m in arrears, he will be making a late charge here.

SELECTIONS: ROCK FISHERMAN (10), GOVERNOR JUJON (6), FIRST STRING (11), KING TRITON (9)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE FIVE

A race day scratching here last week when he looked to have the race at his mercy, LIFE LAVROS (1) again looks to have found the ideal conditions. Loving life in the Sunshine State with 3 wins from his past 4 starts, he was deep back in the field over this trip but had the closing power to arrive for a stylish win last start. With the perfect trip in behind the speed, he can take the snipers shot.

FRANCO HAMPTON (2) loves to run the gate and then set the speed and from this gate lands the perfect conditions to suit his pattern. Firing out from gate 6 to take control here last start, the power was on all the way in stopping the clock in a 1.53.1 mile. The tighter gate is a big plus, and he will give them plenty to chase.

BOMBADIER JUJON (4) started fav in a mid-week event last start from gate 9 and chasing from the running line could not reel in WATCH PULP FICTION. Taking them all the way 2 starts back, he will be right in the mix.

SQUIRE (8) was first to the pegs before releasing FRANCO HAMPTON last start and then with the easy trip in behind the speed was best of the chasers when within 3m of the leader and winner. The pegs look a good place to be, and he can be probing for a closing play.

SELECTIONS: LIFE LAVROS (1), FRANCO HAMPTON (2), BOMBADIER JUJON (4), SQUIRE (8)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-2-4-8

RACE SIX

BLISSFULL LILLY (9)
arrives in Qld to join the stables of Shawn Grimsey and makes her first appearance in the Sunshine State here. Firing across from outside the front line to take control over the Penrith 1720m last start, she was unable to see it out. That was back on July 1 and with the right trail she can be ready to make a closing play.

AJAY BREEZY ROSE (8) eased from gate 7 here last week to secure position before making a closing run from deep in the pack to grab the bronze. Runner-up here 2 starts back when taking a closing dive at OAXACAN DREAM to be only a head away, she will need a rub of the green here but will be probing.

FEELS LIKA WINNER (4) worked around them from the 2nd line to get outside the leader in the early stages last time out and despite the workload was in for the fight when only 1m in arrears of the winner VOODOO LOU. She can work hard to feature again.

KATAMACH (6) made the most of an improved gate last start at Redcliffe when sent straight to the front from gate 1 and once in control was never in danger when claiming victory by 4m. The gate is a stinger again but back to mares company is a plus.

SELECTIONS: BLISSFULL LILLY (9), AJAY BREEZY ROSE (8), FEELS LIKA WINNER (4), KATAMACH (6)
SUGGESTED BET: BLISSFULL LILLY (9) to win

RACE EIGHT

Stating from gate 1 last week looked to give WAHS FIRE BUG (6) all the options but she was soon buried 3 back against the poles as the early speed from wider off the front line was superior. Looking in a spot of bother at one point, the gaps opened, and she worked into open space and charged hard to arrive for the victory. Sitting off the speed, she can charge home again here.

A RAINBOW DELIGHT (3) should appreciate a return to a nice gate after being imposed with the ODM embargo in recent starts. Working home in nice order after retreating in the early stages here 2 starts back behind TOTAL DIVA, Her effort here on Tuesday was strong and from the gate can throw it down.

TOTAL DIVA (4) pounced on the poles from gate 3 over the mile here 2 starts back and once in control was able to dictate to an all the way victory. Beaten by gate 7 last week, she has the gate to feature in this.

LISA LINCOLN (8) was beaten by gate 6 last start at Redcliffe when forced too far back in the pack as a solid temp was set from the front. 5m from the winner when 3rd 2 starts back, a return to mares only grade and the 2nd line options will help here.

SELECTIONS: WAHS FIRE BUG (6), A RAINBOW DELIGHT (3), TOTAL DIVA (4), LISA LINCOLN (8)
SUGGESTED BET: WAHS FIRE BUG (6) to win

RACE NINE

He can be hard to pin down and his manners can be questionable but at his best DOUG (2) has the talent to capitalise. Sent forward from the 10m tape last start, he pressed on to take control over this trip and then kept the power on and had too much in reserve to score. The start is all important.

GODOFTHUNDER (3) has been kept fresh since his last start in the Qld Trotters Cup when unable to go with them over the closing stages as TOUGH MONARCH scored a dominant victory. His effort in the DJA Final was good after leading them up and back to this grade and a likely saloon passage when the tapes fly, he can throw it down.

ALADDIN SANE (1) steps up in grade but should appreciate the front tape after facing handicaps in recent outings. Game in defeat behind DOUG last start, if he can step cleanly to settle handy, he can feature.

MAJESTIC SIMON (11) has the 50m to overcome under these conditions after he could not overcome the 40m last week over the 2138m. The rise to the 13 furlongs will help and he has podium claims.

SELECTIONS: DOUG (2), GODOFTHUNDER (3), ALADDIN SANE (1), MAJESTIC SIMON (11)
SUGGESTED BET: DOUG (2) to win
