RACE ONE

The task is made tougher with the outside second line gate, but MAYWYN TROUBADOR (10) looks to have enough of an edge. A winner four starts back from inside the second line, he was sent forward to sit parked and proved too strong. Just 5m away last start from gate 7, he can arrive.

SWEET LOMBO (7) is winless this season from 9 attempts, his latest performance from gate 6 over the Redcliffe 1780m where he was wide off the track in the closing stages to finish 5m in arrears of the winner MONTEREY JACK. The gate makes it tough, but he can still issue a challenge.

CUPCAKESNWHIPCREAM (9) scored a Redcliffe victory three starts back when using the passing lane to dart through and grab the prize. With the right trip, she can be making a closing play for the prize.

CALVERT HOT SHOT (6) made the most of a good alley last start when burrowing through from gate 1 on The Triangle to take them all the way. The gate hurts but he brings winning form.

SELECTIONS: MAYWYN TROUBADOR (10), SWEET LOMBO (7), CUPCAKESNWHIPCREAM (9), CALVERT HOT SHOT (6)
SUGGESTED BET: MAYWYN TROUBADOR (10) to win

RACE TWO

This colts and geldings Triad shapes as a super battle where HOLD ON TO YA BLING (5) will take his place first up in 7 weeks. Given a pair of trials since his last start Paleface Adios Classic victory where he defeated JEWEL MELODY, his run two back in the Redcliffe Sales Final was big after striking trouble in the run and he can arrive.

FRANKIE FEROCIOUS (2) has won 3 of 4 career starts and will be shooting for the hat-trick. A debut winner when finishing off in smart fashion for a 6m margin, he was keen second up and was rolled when finishing 4th. Sent for a break, he has returned with a pair of wins, including a dominant heat victory.

HAVEYOUCHECKEDIN (10) moved around at the 1200m from gate 6 to improve and then received cover from the 1000m in the Heat. Easing wider approaching the home bend, he let down nicely and pulled clear to claim a 9m margin. First up in over 8 weeks in that victory, he looms large.

CAPTAIN FOXTROT (11) should take some good benefit from his heat performance where he was taking his first outing in 7weeks. With a chequered passage through the opening 600m, he was sent to sit parked and had the nose in front turning for home, only to peak on the run. He has claims.

SELECTIONS: HOLD ON TO YA BLING (5), FRANKIE FEROCIOUS (2), HAVEYOUCHECKEDIN (10), CAPTAIN FOXTROT (11)
SUGGESTED BET: HOLD ON TO YA BLING (5) to win

RACE THREE

Tackling this trip last start from gate 4 when starting as the favourite, BIG WHEELS (9) was sent forward and soon after the start was in front and from there was never headed in taking a 2m margin. Beaten an eyelash two starts back in the 4YO Championship, he looks to have the class.

JUSTA LITTLE BIT (6) tackles this 4YO event after successive Menangle mile victories in his past two starts. Setting a new career benchmark two starts back in claiming a 1.51.5 mile from gate 7, he charged home last start to arrive. The gate stings here, but he can throw down the challenge.

CHAMONIX (5) claimed a 70Heat four runs back when finishing best from the 1x1 trail to claim a 2m margin in a new career PB. Runner-up in successive starts leading into this, he has place claims.

SCOTCH EN ICE (3) was required to roll the sleeves and do the hard stuff outside the leader last start in a qualifier when finishing 6m in arrears. Striking trouble two back, he is a podium hope here.

SELECTIONS: BIG WHEELS (9), JUSTA LITTLE BIT (6), CHAMONIX (5), SCOTCH EN ICE (3)
SUGGESTED BET: BIG WHEELS (9) to win

RACE FOUR

The second of the G1 features for the night is the 3YO Fillies. GOLDIES A DELIGHT (7) was returning from a spell in the heat where she was asked to sit parked outside ALWAYSBME. Grinding it out to hold on for 2nd, she will take benefit from the run and despite a horrid gate, can be the one.

ALWAYSBME (12) has progressed at each step through the season and stamped the ticket to the big dance here with a dominant Heat win. Firing off the arm from gate 2, she was never in danger in taking an 11m margin over GOLDIES A DELIGHT. The gate makes it tough, yet she can challenge.

RACY ROXY (5) is looking to secure the Breeders Classic / Triad double and has opened deep into the red to achieve the feat. Buried in the run last start in the Qld Oaks, it followed a passing lane victory in the SE Oaks. The gate is tricky.

MAGICAL MAYA (3) was obliged to do it the tough way in her Heat when sent to sit parked after finding plenty of space to work away from the poles after starting from inside the second line. It was a gritty 2nd to be just a head in arrears and the improved gate is a plus.

SELECTIONS: GOLDIES A DELIGHT (7), ALWAYSBME (12), RACY ROXY (5), MAGICAL MAYA (3)
SUGGESTED BET: GOLDIES A DELIGHT (7) each-way

RACE FIVE

After three runs back from a long break, getting the miles in the legs and tightening up after a pair of placings, HIPSTAR (7) finds the right conditions to capitalise. Just 3m from the winner two starts back when making a mid-race attack, his last start was a determined 3rd from outside the front over the Redcliffe 1780m trip. He has the edge.

REGULUS (8) was eased to find position last start and was soon hemmed away against the markers. Chasing hard as LOVE YOUR WORK dictated to an effortless victory, it followed a 6m margin when midfield from gate 4. With the second line options on offer, he can make a challenge.

DATITUDE (6) was taken back from outside the front line on The Triangle last time out. Making a strong challenge when set alight at the 650m, he pulled clear to claim a smart 11m margin. The smaller field helps his chances.

FIRE AND ICE (4) eased from gate 5 at Redcliffe two starts back and securing the right trip was able to work into the race strongly to claim victory. Too far back last start, he can chime into the money.

SELECTIONS: HIPSTAR (7), REGULUS (8), DATITUDE (6), FIRE AND ICE (4)
SUGGESTED BET: HIPSTAR (7) to win

RACE SIX

Not seen since trailing the field home in the Golden Girl JASPER (4) was not too far from the winner TOWN ECHO in that contest after retreating from gate 6 to find position. Buried in the run the start prior as DELIGHTFUL DUDE took the prize, this mare’s only contest looks well within her grasp.

SHES MISS DEVINE (2) was down the line when resuming from a spell in a mare’s qualifier three starts back but was much sharper second up when claiming a 2m margin in a smart win. Gunned down when deep in the red last week after leading, she can find the front and will be gripping on.

EVA MATEO (7) arrives for Victorian trainer Peter Manning with her last start seeing her left flat as TREACHERY took the win with a slick closing 800m split. The wide gate does her no favours.

AUNTY BELLA (8) returns to Qld after heading back South for three Menangle runs, finishing 3rd in the past two of those. Fighting hard from gate 6 last start after being sent forward, she was 7m from the winner. The second line options are a bonus.

SELECTIONS: JASPER (4), SHES MISS DEVINE (2), EVA MATEO (7), AUNTY BELLA (8)
SUGGESTED BET: JASPER (4) to win

RACE EIGHT

Stepping up to the 2680m in the Qld Derby last start when trying to lead all the way, DANGERZONE (4) was unable to repel them in the stretch and faded last as LEAP TO FAME claimed the prize. Leading to within the closing strides in the SE Derby the start prior when a neck adrift of the winner, he has been to the trials for a tune up and he can capitalise.

CAPTAIN SHUFFLES (3) has stepped up at each outing this campaign and will need to take the next step again here at his biggest test to date. Blitzing his opponents at the mile two starts back in a sizzling 1.51.6 power running display, he stepped out over the 2138m for the first-time last start and took a 5m margin after a steady opening half. He won’t get that luxury here.

TEDDY DISCO (8) will be reliant on some factors to go in his favour at some stage from this alley. Bouncing back after his Qld Derby run where he was slammed with gate 12, he overcame gate 7 with a career PB rate at the mile in tough fashion. If he can spot a gap, he can feature.

MISTY CREEK (6) faced gate 7 in the Heat and was sent forward to sit parked and never shirked the task when finishing just 3m from the winner AWAYWEGO. A tough run from the second line two back at Redcliffe when 2nd to BETTOR JIGGLE, he is up to filling the minors.

SELECTIONS: DANGERZONE (4), CAPTAIN SHUFFLES (3), TEDDY DISCO (8), MISTY CREEK (6)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE NINE

After a starchy victory here four starts back when sitting parked and taking a 4m margin, MISTERY ROAD (4) has been taken back in the three runs since. Eased from gate 6 here last week in a qualifier, he was back in the pack and searching for gaps attacked the line over the last 100m for the silver. Against this line up, he can cash-in.

GOOD AS IT GETS (3) started from inside the second line last time out and when the field settled, was locked away three back along the inside. Making nice metres to grab the silver when 3m in arrears, it followed a tough trip when parked as TIZ A SIZZLER arrived. He can throw it down.

SHEREACTS (1) comes up with the good alley for the cosy trip as she chased down a hat-trick of victories. Too strong in taking a first over win two back, she took them all the way last time and has podium claims here.

NICKS PICK (6) started favourite last start when settled in the running line after starting from the second line. Facing gate 10 two starts back at the mile, the smaller field will suit his pattern.

SELECTIONS: MISTERY ROAD (4), GOOD AS IT GETS (3), SHEREACTS (1), NICKS PICK (6)
SUGGESTED BET: MISTERY ROAD (4) to win

RACE TEN

It may be just the small field of 5 but this race shapes as a tactical battle between the big three. With a slightly stronger record at the 2138m WILL THE WIZARD (2) can be first to the poles for this battler. With the options on offer thereafter and with a 2-1 record of beating BLACKSADANCE home when they have clashed at 2138m, and fitter here second up, he can arrive.

BLACKSADANCE (3) very nearly claimed an unlikely victory last week after going off-stride with 150m to travel, resetting and charging to go within a whisker of still taking victory. Forced to work hard the start prior in the Blacks A Fake when left exposed over the 2680m, he will throw it down and is the one they have to beat.

COLT THIRTY ONE (4) secured career win number 50 last week when lifting off the canvas to score a determined victory. After sitting parked, he looked gone on the home bend but rallied valiantly to score. Small field tactics make it tough for a repeat.

SELECTIONS: WILL THE WIZARD (2), BLACKSADANCE (3), COLT THIRTY ONE (4)
SUGGESTED BET: WILL THE WIZARD (2) to win
