RACE TWO

DOWNTOWN LUCCA (9) doesn’t have any favours from the 2nd line but he finds a race here where the 2nd line runners likely hold the keys to the race. Not suited when bottled away 3 back on the pegs last time, he worked home well the start prior from gate 10. With even luck he gets his chance.

TRENTLEIGH (10) had been working towards a victory and looked to find his opportunity last start to capitalise with his early speed from gate 2. Unable to get across to the pegs, he found the 1x1 trail and the race then turned into a last stanza scamper. Runner-up his previous 2, he is right in this.

CHEYENNE AUTUMN (7) would likely be a solid chance if drawn any other gate than where she finds herself here. A tidy Marburg winner 2 back, she followed that with a luckless 2nd. Needs luck here.

EVERY THINGS ROSEY (4) is always sparingly raced and resumes from a break. Her run last start was a smart effort when chasing hard and with the right run in transit can chime in here.

SELECTIONS: DOWNTOWN LUCCA (9), TRENTLEIGH (10), CHEYENNE AUTUMN (7), EVERY THINGS ROSEY (4)
SUGGESTED BET: DOWNTOWN LUCCA (9) to win

RACE THREE

This race could go any number of ways and depending on the different map permutations where the winner could actually come from. I have settled with WILLSINTOWN (8) who should be able to settle in a handy position in the running line. Gunned down in front last start, he wasn’t suited the start prior in the breeze. In a wide-open contest he can arrive.

CHANG (6) has placed his past 2 starts and while he is afforded no favours from the wide gate, he will be sure to be finishing hard. Settling in the running line from the 2nd line over this trip 2 starts back, he worked home well for the bronze and last start was beaten a whisker. With luck can feature.

REDBANK RENDEVOUS (7) had an early look from gate 5 over the AP mile last start before able to find the space to drop into the trail. He will need some luck from this alley, but can chime in here.

IM SANDY BAY (10) had placed in 3 successive runs before facing an issue last start that saw her banished to the trials. Returning here, she can be thereabouts with even luck in transit.

SELECTIONS: WILLSINTOWN (8), CHANG (6), REDBANK RENDEVOUS (7), IM SANDY BAY (10)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE FOUR

HOT EMBERS (1)
will take great benefit from his 1st up run over the AP sprint trip when stepping out in Qld for the 1st time. Keeping the pace on out in front, he was only collared in the closing stages after setting a sub 1.54.0 mile. Fitter from the run, he looks to get every chance in front here.

SPONDOOLEY (7) loves being saved for a closing sprint and from this gate behind the likely leader can be sitting in the snipers lair ready to pull the trigger in the stretch. Arriving down the outside to score here 2 starts back, he wasn’t suited last time. Look for him sniping the lane.

OUR PEPPERJACK (2) has been runner-up at his past 2 starts, the latest when hitting the line in nice style behind KISS CAM. Only a half-neck away 2 starts back, he won’t be too far away here.

TRUNKEY DIGGER (8) secured the right trip here last time over the 2040m and packed too many guns in the closing stages to arrive for the prize. The gate hurts somewhat, but she can podium.

SELECTIONS: HOT EMBERS (1), SPONDOOLEY (7), OUR PEPPERJACK (2), TRUNKEY DIGGER (8)
SUGGESTED BET: HOT EMBERS (1) to win

RACE FIVE

COUNTRY RUN (2) can be forgiven for his latest start when striking trouble and having his chances disappear in the process when starting fav. The start prior he kicked up to hold the chair over the AP mile and the effort saw him fade in the stretch. This looks his chance to breakthrough in Qld.

GRINYDONTCHA (1) had faced 3 successive 2nd line draws which didn’t suit her style and the results were hard to come by. With a return to the front last start over this trip, she was able to capitalise by finding the front and dictating to score by 5m. with the peg-line benefits she can look to repeat.

STUDLEIGH WILL (5) chased hard from the 1x1 trail here 3 starts back to grab the bronze behind COMMODORE JUJON. Working hard in the breeze last start, he might need to work again, but has claims.

BETTOR WATCH HIM (8) found his race to take them all the way here 2 starts back from gate 3 over the 2040m. Closing nicely from the 2nd line at Marburg last time, he can be challenging late in this.

SELECTIONS: COUNTRY RUN (2), GRINYDONTCHA (1), STUDLEIGH WILL (5), BETTOR WATCH HIM (8)
SUGGESTED BET: COUNTRY RUN (2) to win

RACE SIX

COLOMBIAN GOLD (1) had been going better than her numbers suggested and was able to show that last start when using the passing lane to get within 2m of the winner SEA HAWKE. Forced to do early work the start prior in an Aspirational at AP, she has the peg-line benefits here to capitalise.

JUST ONE GOOD ONE (8) returns from a freshen and had been meeting stronger opponents than he will face off against here. Last start from the 2nd line he was closing out nicely over the AP mile when grabbing the bronze and only 4m from the winner BILLY LINCOLN. He can throw down the challenge in his 1st look at the triangle.

TAYLOR HOOD (5) has been in the money at 4 of his past 5 starts including a strong win in a heat of the Marburg to Albion Series. Fighting hard from gate 7 last start, he will be in the fight again here.

TASCOTT LADY (2) returned from a spell in fine style last time out when pouncing on the pegs from gate 1 and leading throughout. Fitter again, she can fire the 1st shot here and be gripping on.

SELECTIONS: COLOMBIAN GOLD (1), JUST ONE GOOD ONE (8), TAYLOR HOOD (5), TASCOTT LADY (2)
SUGGESTED BET: COLOMBIAN GOLD (1) to win

RACE SEVEN

DE VOYAGE (4) will take great benefit from her latest start when returning from a break. Looking to get forward early she received some cover in the 1x1 trail and was driving on the line to go under by a neck behind LITTLE BOLT. Meeting some handy performers prior to the break, this looks ideal.

TORQUE IS MY GIRL (5) sat back in the pack from gate 10 last start over the sprint trip when making a powerful closing burst to arrive for a smart win. That followed successive placings here from tough gates and despite another sticky alley, should appreciate the mares only company to challenge.

TELL THE FUTURE (2) has faced 2nd line gates at her past 2 starts which haven’t been ideal and should relish the return to the front here where she can look to utilise her early speed.

LETHAL STAR (9) secured the pocket trail last start when 6m from the winner TANYAS PAST. Facing some wide gates her previous 2, she can get the right trail home here to chime in late.

SELECTIONS: DE VOYAGE (4), TORQUE IS MY GIRL (5), TELL THE FUTURE (2), LETHAL STAR (9)
SUGGESTED BET: DE VOYAGE (4) to win
