Trainer Bryan Dais has warned punters not to down play the chances of his star galloper Looks Like Elvis in the Listed Lough Neagh Stakes at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

Looks Likes Elvis is back after a spring campaign in Sydney and Melbourne and meets a strong field in the 1300-metre Listed feature.

The five-year-old will be up against Stradbroke Handicap runner-up Tyzone, last start winners Chapter And Verse, Constant Flight and Miss Fabulass as well as Tony Gollan’s I’m A Rippa.

Gollan is chasing his fourth Lough Neagh Stakes after winning it in successive years with Fontelina in 2016 and with Most Important in 2017-18.

The race was won last year by interstate raider, the Jenny Graham-trained Victorem.

Looks Like Elvis started five times in the south, kicking off with a sixth placing in the Group 1 Turnbull Stakes at Flemington (2000m) on October 5.

He then failed behind imported stayer Dr Drill in the Listed Cranbourne Cup before placing at his next two starts in the Goldstar at Moonee Valley on October 25 and a second placing in the Listed Cup Day Plate at Flemington last month.

Dais then headed to NSW with Looks Like Elvis who beat only three home in the $1 million The Gong at Kembla Grange on November 23.

“He didn’t disgrace himself down south and he had a few excuses in the Cranbourne up,” Dais said.

“He was ridden forward that day and just raced too close.

“He should nearly have won the Goldstar at Moonee Valley when he got boxed in and couldn’t get out.

“At Kembla he was never on the track. You had to be up near the lead and be on the fence there as nothing was coming from behind and they broke the track record.”

Dais believes Looks Like Elvis’ liking for Eagle Farm will be to his advantage.

“He’s had six starts at Eagle Farm for four wins, a second and a third and he should nearly have an unbeaten record there,” he said.

“He arrived back here two weeks ago and he’s been freshened up.

“His main aim is the Bernborough in three weeks but this looks a nice race for him as a lead-up.”
