Both the Goondiwindi RC and Nanango RC non-TAB race meetings on Saturday, December 4 have been abandoned due to the state of tracks following the major rainfall event over the past week.
Goondiwindi racecourse has received 95mm of rainfall in the past seven days.
Notification has also been received from the LDGM that all major highways in and out of Goondiwindi will be closed for a number of days due to major flooding. This left the club with no alternative other to abandon the race meeting.
RQ is currently considering race programming options for upcoming race meetings in the Eastern Downs region.
The Nanango racecourse has received over 200mm of rainfall over the past two weeks and with surface water on large sections of the track, the track is unsuitable for racing.
Due to the abandonment, additional races have been added to upcoming non-TAB meetings in the South East region in the coming weeks.
The additional races are:
- 11/12/21 - Bundaberg RC - Benchmark 55 Hcp - 1600m - $8,500
- 18/12/21 - Esk JC - Benchmark 65 Hcp - 1200m - $8,500
- 18/12/21 - Esk JC - Maiden Plate (2yo & up sw) - 800m - $8,500
RQ will liaise with both race clubs regarding future options for a replacement race meeting.
