Racing Queensland is aware of the launch of an interactive map, Aussies Farms, which plots the locations of more than 500 racing facilities across the nation.

Earlier this month, Aussie Farms, an ‘animal rights charity’, commenced advertising their repository across social media channels which also lists the locations – and in many instances contact details - of more than 5000 Australian farms, abattoirs and other facilities.

Given the nature of the interactive map – and the recent public commentary of their Executive Director, Christopher Delforce, across various media outlets which included failing to discourage supporters from trespassing on private property - RQ is duly concerned about animal welfare, the health and safety of their industry participants and prospective privacy breaches contained within the site.

“The conduct of Aussie Farms in recent times is cause for concern,” RQ Chief Operating Officer Adam Wallish l said.

“Racing Queensland is committed to ensuring the health and wellbeing of our horses and greyhounds, while also allowing our industry participants to operate freely and fairly without the release of private information.

“We also condemn any individual or group which trespasses on private property in the name of enabling this website and encourage anyone affected to contact the police directly.”

Additionally, RQ encourages industry participants affected by Aussie Farms’ actions to consider taking some or all of the steps detailed below. They are:

Check if your facility or property is affected

Firstly, you can check if your racing property or facility is listed on the Repository or Map.

Make a formal complaint to the:

  • Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission (ACNC)

According to the ACNC, a charity must operate for a charitable purpose which is for the public benefit. If you are worried about Aussie Farms’ conduct, you can report your concerns via their online form or you can phone 13 22 62 to discuss the matter with their Advice team.

If you require additional assistance, please contact Racing Queensland.
