Trainer – Stephen Kirkwood

“We came here the other day not quite match fit and today still not where we think we can get him but lots of improvement nonetheless.”

“The barrier was key for him today we wanted to lead and were able to from the draw.”

“From day one he’s been a racehorse which mas made it very easy on us and young Adin will listen and do what you ask I couldn’t ask for any better.”

“I’m working between ten and twelve now, I’m a bricklayer by trade and have to fit the horses in morning and night, my wife’s very patient.”

Jockey – Adin Thompson

“It’s been good at the moment the support is coming in thick and fast I’m enjoying it.”

“Last start I rode him he hung around the corner a bit so I was aware of that today and able to keep his mind on the job.”

“I didn’t have to do much with him in the straight he had a bit in reserve.”

“Rapt to get another win with her she’s been a brilliant little mare who came oh so close to winning a Black Type race earlier in the summer and I said to the guys I think it’s time to find some nice races for her and get some money in the bank.”

“We saw this race five weeks away and we were able to set her for it and she won as expected.”

“She’s a tough little thing she just keeps on going about her business right through a preparation.”

“I think she’s done enough this time in, we’ll just tip her out and come back in the winter.”

Jockey – Baylee Nothdurft

“I made the leader work a bit before I came off it’s back, I rode her like a good thing and she responded.”

“The track is pretty hard from my two rides so far both horses have wanted to shift in their ground, so we’ll see how it plays.”

Assistant Trainer – Paul Shailer

“I think off the back off his last run where he missed the start quite badly the writing was on the wall, I think he runs a clear second Magic Millions day if he begun with them but good to see him bring that form with a lovely ride today.’

“The pace was only moderate, but I was still surprised how sharp he was when asked to quicken up inside the 300, hopefully he can get a bit of confidence from this and string a few together.”

“I’m not sure if he’ll get further than the mile, I’ll leave that to the boss but Matty might be able to tell you a bit more.”

Jockey – Matthew McGillivray

“Textbook stuff wasn’t it, I’m a lucky man to still get paid for that.”

“I put him in the spot but you still need the horse underneath you to sprint nicely and win and he did that in good fashion.”

“I was chuckling early in the race Great powers was the only speed, the tempo was only moderate and he relaxed very well and will probably go further on what he did today.”

“This race was tempo related I still think horses can make ground, but at this stage you need to be in the first four.”

Trainer – Robert Heathcote

“Lovely ride by Ryan, that’s exactly what the horse needed eased out in the straight and given plenty of time to wind up.”

“Horses are funny things it takes this guy 800 days between wins and now he goes back to back.”

“It’s great for the connections to get him back he’s banked $80,000 which is fantastic for them and I think there are better things to come.”

“The Winter Carnival is only a couple of months away and I think there’s a nice race in this horse.”

Jockey – Ryan Maloney

“He wasn’t brilliant out of the gates, but it ended up a blessing in disguise I was able to get a good tow into the race and when he took me into the straight it was all over.”

“He won with plenty up his sleeve and has obviously relished his time in Queensland.”

“I’m told he used to have a few tricks up his sleeve but he’s been nothing but professional for me.”

Race 5 - 3:02PM PADDYFEST MARCH 14 BENCHMARK 75 Handicap (1000 METRES)

1st – Pizonie – Tony Gollan – Baylee Nothdurft

2nd – I’ve Gotta Nel – Barry Lockwood – Corey Bayliss

3rd – Ditmas – Mel Eggleston – Ryan Maloney

Trainer – Tony Gollan

“We went back with him a few starts ago and really finished off well, but went back to on speed the last few which is his normal racing pattern.”

“I thought he was really unlucky here a fortnight ago and ridden differently today he made amends.”

“Keeping him at the 100-1100 is probably the key to him, early days I thought he’d get six or seven furlongs, but I was obviously wrong he looks very comfortable over the sprint.”

Jockey – Baylee Nothdurft

“He’s been consistent his whole life the 100 around The Farm suits him to a tee and his win four back has really given him some confidence.”

“I was pretty confident in the run today he settled beautifully never pulled and hit the line strong showing there’s nothing wrong coming down the middle of the track.”9.jpeg

Trainer – Matthew Dunn

“I was a little worried early when he missed the kick but to Robbie’s credit he didn’t panic and used the draw to get him in a winnable position.”

“His first up run was good and we thought he’d improve and despite the start he’s fund enough to win the race after a long drought.”

“He’s a new addition to the stable and must be loving the country air at Murwillumbah, but credit to the Waller team they gave him to me in great condition.”

“We’ll space his runs now possibly get him out to 1400, he seems to have a new lease on life so lets hope we can keep it rolling.”

Jockey – Robbie Fradd

“He was very good first up I thought it was a top effort and all he was going to do was improve with the love and care the Dunn stable has given him.”

“I think he’s a better horse outside with clear running and missing the start allowed us to go back and pull out.”

Stable Rep – Michael Ray

“He was very good here two weeks ago and we expected more of the same.”

“It looked a bit dodgy on the turn he was stuck away on the inside, but Andrew was able to pull him to the middle just in time.”

“He’s been a bit slow to mature he’s late three and just starting to hit his straps.”

“Third win campaign and he was butchered at the Gold Coast as well, he’s in career best form.”

“We’ve got a good team that’s the secret it’s taken us a while to get them going but we’re going well now.”

Jockey – Andrew Mallyon

“I was probably guilty of being a little bit cute trying to cut the corner but the horse did very well to spin off heals and get motoring.”

“I was pretty happy throughout the run the speed was good and I got a beautiful drag into the race it just took a while for a run to open.”

“He looks like he wants further he’s a bloke with plenty of scope, but you don’t have to be in a rush either because as you saw today he’s got a sharp sprint too.”

3rd – Femme Fireball – Robert Heathcote – Ron Stewart

adin-1.jpeg

Trainer – Troy Pascoe

“He’s had a few feet issues growing up, but his work has been enormous once we got him right and we were hopeful he’d be my first Saturday metro winner and he’s done it.”

“Things didn’t go his way at the Magic Millions, and he was still only three off Outback Barbie in a race where the first five horses were all black type winners.”

“I didn’t expect him to lead by that far, but he got away with it and won so all is forgiven, they didn’t chase him and the light weight helped.”

“We were thinking of the Ramornie after he won first up and ran well at Magic Millions, he’s the sort of horse who could run a cheeky race.”

Jockey – Adin Thompson

“I wanted to lead and once he bounced out about two lengths in front of them all I didn’t want to restrain him, I just let him roll along and he opened up a margin.”

“I knew they’d be charging late but I made sure I left a little in the locker for the last furlong and he was too good.”

"She's a talented young filly on the rise, she was carrying quite a lot of conditioning when we brought her back this prep and she's just tightening up every run."

"It's good to see a young horse improve and grow she's come on in leaps and bounds from her first time in."

"Ten out of ten from Ryan put her in the spot the others had their chance but she's too strong."

Jockey - Ryan Maloney

"I've done a lot of work with this filly since early on and she's a different horse in so many aspects from where she started."

"Much more professional, doesn't mind taking the sit and was press button to sprint today.
