Racing Queensland confirms that the Brisbane Racing Club race meeting at Doomben tomorrow, Saturday, February 26, has been abandoned as a result of the heavy rain's impact on the track.

The course proper has been deemed by officials as unsuitable for racing on following a track inspection, with there being no likelihood of it improving to a safe standard for racing on irrespective of the weather over the next 24 hours.

RQ endeavoured to reschedule the meeting in its entirety, however that was not possible given Brisbane Racing Club is already programmed to host two race meetings at Doomben in the ensuing week.

After careful consideration of next week’s race programmes, RQ has rescheduled some of the races lost through Doomben’s abandonment.

Brisbane RC (Doomben) - Wednesday, March 2

  • Sky Racing Tattersall’s Members Cup (Listed) – 1600m - $130,000; and
  • Tattersall’s QTIS 3YO Handicap – 1350m - $75,000.

Gold Coast Turf Club - Saturday, March 5

  • Two-Year-Old Handicap - 1300m - $75,000 + applicable QTIS bonuses; and
  • Class 6 Handicap - 1400m - $75,000.

Sunshine Coast Turf Club - March 4

  • Benchmark 78 Handicap - 2200m - $75,000.

The same fields for these races have been retained and scratchings made to date have been reinstated.

Further communication around additional rescheduled races will be provided shortly.

Trainers and riders with engagements at tomorrow’s now abandoned Doomben meeting have been advised via SMS.
