Up-and-coming trainer Tarquin Neal is looking forward to getting the exciting Hara's Reign to Brisbane Greyhound Club in the near future after the bitch's impressive maiden win earlier this month.

The Park Ridge South-based trainer has eight in work at his emerging kennel, with four-time winner Sushi Mango set for the heats of the Ipswich Auction Sprint Series on Friday afternoon.

At the same track earlier this month, brindle and white bitch Hara's Reign put almost six lengths on the field to score for the first time in her young career, stopping the clock at 30.73 seconds over 520 metres.

From a Fernando Bale and Hara's Honey litter, Neal is keen to take Hara's Reign into Albion Park in the near future.

“She won in nice time,” he said.

“She does go alright and I was confident going into Saturday night she would run well.

“I will take her into Albion Park and give her a few looks there; see how she goes.

“She is probably the most exciting one I have got right now.”

The youthful dog conditioner is making his way in the greyhound game after spending 13 years as a soldier in the army, being based in Townsville.

That is where he first got a taste of greyhounds, a group of friends buying into a chaser and as he now reflects, before he knew it, he had a trainers licence and a kennel of his own.

Sushi Mango, a son of Zambora Brockie, heads towards the heats of the Ipswich Auction Sprint Series on Friday afternoon, going around in race eight of the program, which is the last of five heats.

Sushi Mango, who Neal also owns, has collected all four of his victories over the 520-metre trip at Ipswich and will be out to win his first event over 431 metres this week.

“He will be better over the 500 metres for that Auction Series, I was not going to put him in the 431-metre one but seeing as they called for extended nominations, I thought why not put him in,” Neal said.

Sushi Mango won a heat of the Corporate Dollars Challenge early in 2021.

The Ipswich Auction Sprint Series over 520 metres will be run across the first three weeks of April.

“He has been really good to me,” Neal said of Sushi Mango.

“He has won four now and placed a few times, he likes the 500-metre trip at Ipswich.”

In the 431-metre Ipswich Auction Sprint Series, five heats will be run this Friday afternoon before three semi-finals next Saturday evening and a Final seven days after that.

Jedda Cutlack’s Tungsten Miss is set to be hard to hold out across the series, boasting a seven win career from just eight starts.

Group 2 winner Tungsten Miss has drawn the four alley in the second heat of the afternoon on Friday.
