A groundbreaking partnership between Racing Queensland and miRunners is set to revolutionise racehorse ownership for Queenslanders by offering premium and affordable ownership with some of the state’s top trainers.
miRunners, one of the country’s most innovative ownership platforms, offers fans the chance to own their own share in premium but affordable thoroughbreds with a view to competing in some of Australia’s richest races.
Racing Queensland CEO Brendan Parnell said miRunners would this week commence purchasing high-quality yearlings from the 2019 Magic Millions Yearling Sale and also at the QTIS March Yearling Sale.

"There's nothing like the thrill of owning a share in a racehorse, especially when it's bought in Queensland and trained in Queensland," Mr Parnell said.
“This innovative partnership aims to introduce a new generation to the excitement of horse ownership that is both highly rewarding and affordable.”
The first yearling will be trained by leading Queensland horseman Rob Heathcote at the historic Eagle Farm racecourse, with training fees starting at just $15 per-month.
miRunners co-founder Steve Brown said the miRunners platform aimed to make premium horse ownership accessible to all Australians and that he was excited to partner with RQ.
"Queenslanders are looking for both affordable and premium thoroughbred ownership and, in the past, haven't been afraid to look interstate to achieve this," Mr Brown said.
“This trade marketing partnership will ensure Queenslanders are able to experience the thrill of owning a regally bred colt or filly in their home state, with a leading local trainer.”
Heathcote, who trained the legendary Queensland sprinter Buffering, said he was thrilled to be the first trainer to take part in this exciting initiative.
“I am thrilled to join Racing Queensland and miRunners to bring new people to our sport,” he said.
“Any time you have the opportunity to train a blue riband horse from the upper-echelon is exciting.
“Many people still think racing is the sport of kings and that you require a king’s wage to get involved but this initiative proves that’s no longer the case.”
It will be the second premium miRunners horse offered to Queenslanders, with five-time premier trainer Tony Gollan currently offering ownership in a 2yo Your Song filly who is a full sister to the exciting Hollaback Girl.
Mr Parnell said: “This is an important step in Racing Queensland’s plan to increase the ownership and participation pool, which is critical to the future sustainability of Queensland racing.”
