Racing Queensland wishes to extend its deepest condolences to the family of racing identity Peter Overell who has passed away aged 72.

Mr Overell is being remembered for his contribution to the Queensland industry as a trainer, owner, breeder and administrator.

Mr Overell and his late wife Ann ran Croxley stud at Biddeston, near Toowoomba, where they stood Group 1 winner Special Dane.

Special Dane was the sire of Temple Spirit, the dam of Group One winners Temple Of Boom and Queensland’s sire of the moment, Spirit Of Boom.

Mr Overell served as the vice chairman of the Toowoomba Turf Club and also enjoyed success as a trainer, with city class gallopers such as Sir Bisc and What A Tale.

His last winner came at Goondiwindi in December 2018 with Cocktailsallaround.

Mr Overell’s family has invited family and friends to attend Peter’s Funeral at the T.S. Burstow chapel, 1020 Ruthven St South, Toowoomba, at 12pm on Friday 1 February 2019.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Leukaemia Foundation.
