RACE TWO

The opening leg of the UTAB quaddie looks a tricky little contest where if HEEZ PERFECT (8) has tightened from his 2 runs back this campaign, might just have enough to get over the top of them. Too far back from gate 10 in the Knights & Dames last start, he should position closer here and will get his chance to arrive.

ULTIMATE AD (4) went to the inside from the 2nd line last start to look for the short-cuts home and was sound to the line behind SOLDIER OF FORTUNE. Luckless his previous 2 runs when looking for gaps that never arrived, he can look for some early hustle and will be in the fight against these.

MO JARNEY (1) should be able to settle no further back than the pocket trail off the ace. Too far back to work into it last start, he was nabbed when looking to lead the start prior. He can snipe here.

WAVEDANCER (7) was shooting for a hat-trick of Redcliffe victories when he toured the triangle the 3-wide throughout and faded under the work. With a soft run on offer, he will be probing.

SELECTIONS: HEEZ PERFECT (8), ULTIMATE AD (4), MO JARNEY (1), WAVEDANCER (7)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-4-7-8

RACE THREE

BUCKHORN EXCHANGE (3) settled in the running line from gate 4 last start and was hitting the line in good order when 2m from the winner KURAHAUPO GAMBLER. Locked away in a qualifier the start prior, he is nearing a win after 6 runs back this campaign and this looks his chance to capitalise.

CONDAFEW (6) has no favours from the outside paint, but he has been doing a good job from tough draws in recent starts. Not far away from gate 7 behind MAJOR CURRENCY 2 starts back, he was charging home at Marburg the start prior. Look for him doing his best work in the closing stages.

PRECIOUS CULLEN (5) is going better than his numbers may suggest with his best return in 4 runs back a 2nd when only 1m from WITH AUTHORITY. The gate hurts but he will be right in the fight here.

OUR SIR IVANHOE (4) should find this more suitable after 2 runs since joining the Veivers barn have been in stronger company. His run in sharp time behind PARISIAN ROCKSTAR last time had merit and he can be an improver.

SELECTIONS: BUCKHORN EXCHANGE (3), CONDAFEW (6), PRECIOUS CULLEN (5), OUR SIR IVANHOE (4)
SUGGESTED BET: BUCKHORN EXCHANGE (3) to win

RACE FOUR

CHROMOZONE (10)
will take some benefit from her maiden Aus start at over the AP mile last time out. Arriving a last start winner in NZ, she speared across from gate 7 with the lamp lighting duties costing a 27.3 opener. That proved too expensive as she faded late but this looks a bounce back opportunity.

IAM THE JOKER (5) worked to find the front from this gate last start and after keeping the speed on early, couldn’t see it out in a 32.6 closer when 2m off the winner. With 2 wins when leading all the way over this trip, he will be gripping on again trying to fight them off.

HADLEY (9) showed the benefit of 2 runs back from a spell here last time when he packed too many guns to arrive, running a slick last 800m in the process. He will get the last shot at them here.

CANNAN (7) hasn’t been far away in 3 starts since breaking his maiden tag here 4 runs back. Last start had merit behind the in-form JAMIES BAD BOY over the AP 2138m and he has podium claims.

SELECTIONS: CHROMOZONE (10), IAM THE JOKER (5), HADLEY (9), CANNAN (7)
SUGGESTED BET: CHROMOZONE (10) to win

RACE FIVE

Race fitness won’t be a concern for MISTER DECORUM (5) who will line up for his 4th start in 11 days. Backing up from Monday on the grass at Kilcoy where he looked a great hope, he didn’t have much luck at AP on Sat night when buried form inside the 2nd line. Rolling forward he can take this.

ELZBOY (9) was forced to race tough in the breeze at Marburg last start and although he was not making much ground, was put out of play in a last turn scrimmage. He struck trouble the start prior which had followed a Marburg victory and with the right trail through the pack has claims here.

BOLT THE BOMB (2) will be 2nd up from a break and since joining the Veivers barn. He will take some benefit from his 1st up run where he didn’t have the cleanest passage and improvement is likely.

WEASEL (1) hasn’t had the speed to lead from this gate at his past 2 and the threepeat looks likely. Able to work to the breeze last time, he was in for the fight when 4m in arrears and has place hopes again.

SELECTIONS: MISTER DECORUM (5), ELZBOY (9), BOLT THE BOMB (2), WEASEL (1)
SUGGESTED BET: MISTER DECORUM (5) to win

RACE SIX

DOOLITTLE DANDY (1) hasn’t won for a while but he strikes the right type of contest to capitalise on here. Last start he was forced to roll the sleeves in the breeze and faded late under the pressure. Hustling early to protect the poles, there looks limited pressure that can see him dictate.

GIZZMO (7) returns following 12 months on the sidelines after last being sighted when mid-field to MONTANA CHIEF. With 2 trials to get some preparation into the legs, he lands the perfect gate for the return with the cosy trip on offer. He can issue a closing shot.

AROONA (5) was a winner here 3 starts back after a soft run in transit against the pegs. Last start he struck trouble in the run and with better luck in transit he can be in the mix against these.

PRIVATE JUJON (3) was attacking the line in nice style last start after landing gate 10 and went within a head of the prize. A winner here 3 starts back, if he can find position, he won’t be far away.

SELECTIONS: DOOLITTLE DANDY (1), GIZZMO (7), AROONA (5), PRIVATE JUJON (3)
SUGGESTED BET: DOOLITTLE DANDY (1) to win

RACE SEVEN

LA PISTOLA (8) will strip fitter following his return to racing following an 8-month break. Holding the pocket trail from inside the 2nd line, he was angled to the running line when the leader hoisted the white flag, only to find traffic and never get a shot. He finds a winnable contest to get off the mark.

MELTON MAX GENTLE (1) lands the best gate of his career and with the peg-line benefits will come the early options. He didn’t have the cleanest passage last start and the run prior was doing some early work to find a position. This looks his best chance to issue a strong challenge.

DANCING IN MANOLOS (2) found the line in good order at Marburg last start to grab the bronze which followed a down the line effort over the AP mile. Back to this company she can chime in.

GEORGEZILLA (3) made a mess of things last start that saw him banished to the trials. Earning his way back into the main draw, he can show early speed and give cheek if settling in transit.

SELECTIONS: LA PISTOLA (8), MELTON MAX GENTLE (1), DANCING IN MANOLOS (2), GEORGEZILLA (3)
SUGGESTED BET: LA PISTOLA (8) to win

RACE EIGHT

The last race looks a tactical contest with the better performers drawn wide and off the back. That will mean ANDREW JAY (8) will need to get into the contest at the right time to strengthen his claims, but he looks the one to be on. Luckless in 2 starts since arriving in Qld, he can make his own luck here.

OURS TO KEEP (6) is the veteran of just 3 career starts, but she has performed well in all 3, with placings at her 1st 2 starts. Last start over this trip she chased gamely to be 6m in arrears of the winner and while the wide gate is a stinger, she can be working home in the closing stages.

REDDY FIRE (9) worked in the breeze last start at Marburg but faded in the run to be down the line behind GUTS. He looks set to have to work at some stage here and place looks best in that scenario.

MOONLIGHT BUTCHER (5) has the wide gate but if able to limit the early burn in finding a position, his stocks will rise. He worked hard here 2 starts back and looks an exotic inclusion in this.

SELECTIONS: ANDREW JAY (8), OURS TO KEEP (6), REDDY FIRE (9), MOONLIGHT BUTCHER (5)
SUGGESTED BET: ANDREW JAY (8) to win
