RACE TWO

After taking them all the way to claim a qualifying victory on Sat night, COREY WILLIAM (9) looks to get into the race nicely. With a sharp middle half off the back of a solid 1st 500m to start the race on Sat, he held them off. His record here on the triangle is superb and he can power home to the prize.

GEST AS SMART (1) has contended with 2nd line gates at his past 2 appearances yet has been able to return some smart efforts. Only 3m from SPEECHCRAFT 2 starts back, he was just too far back last time behind SONNY SAVEAO. With the peg-line benefits, he can look to capitalise here.

SPRINGFIELD SPIRIT (3) took on the same qualifier on Sat night as COREY WILLIAM and eased back from gate 5 to look for peg luck. Settling closer in transit here, he has podium claims.

BUMPER (6) started fav last start from gate 1 but made an error that saw him shuffled back along the poles. Chasing gamely for the bronze, he has the tough gate for his errors, but can still chime in.

SELECTIONS: COREY WILLIAM (9), GEST AS SMART (1), SPRINGFIELD SPIRIT (3), BUMPER (6)
SUGGESTED BET: COREY WILLIAM (9) to win

RACE THREE

BURMACH (3) will take further benefit from his latest outing when 3rd up since joining the Sallis team off the back of an 8-month break. Forced to race tough in the breeze last start from gate 4 over the 2040m, he only faded late under a strong tempo. With the speed to fire out, he can dictate.

KISS CAM (6) found the front last start over the sprint trip and set a solid tempo in front and couldn’t see it out when 5m in arrears of the winner. Closing strongly from back in the pack the start prior, he isn’t given any favours from the wide gate but will be in for the fight again here.

MISTER HART (10) shoots for the hat-trick after successive wins over the sprint trip. Finishing over the top last start, he made the most of the pocket trail here 2 runs back. He can swoop late.

SUBTLE DELIGHT (4) eased back early from gate 7 over the AP sprint tri last start before leading the one-wide line after they settled in single file. It was a much-improved run and he can build off that here.

SELECTIONS: BURMACH (3), KISS CAM (6), MISTER HART (10), SUBTLE DELIGHT (4)
SUGGESTED BET: BURMACH (3) to win

RACE FOUR

GUTS (3)
sat back last start from gate 9 and worked home best to swoop on by to claim a 7m victory last start. His run the start prior was better than the result suggests and with good early speed might just be able to hustle to the poles here. Either in front or handy to the speed, he can repeat.

FORTES IN FIDE (2) is getting closer to a win and last start was attacking the line nicely to grab the silver behind GUTS. Strong in the breeze the start prior when only 8m from the winner GOLD REACTOR, he will be close to the action from this alley and can throw down a challenge.

STUDLEIGH WILL (4) found running line cover from the 2nd line last start when solid to the line behind SWORD AND SHIELD. Forced to work tough the start prior, he is in the mix here.

RAGING INFERNO (6) eased back from gate 5 over this trip 2 starts back and those back in the pack didn’t really get into the contest. Only 6m away last time, he can be thereabouts against these.

SELECTIONS: GUTS (3), FORTES IN FIDE (2), STUDLEIGH WILL (4), RAGING INFERNO (6)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE FIVE

It’s been a while since TRENTLEIGH (1) greeted the judge, but he finds the right type of race here to turn it around. Only beaten a lip 3 starts back when he looked the winner, he went too slow in front over this trip last start and was out-sprinted late. With the ace gate he can atone here.

BEEJAYS DELIGHT (9) eased back from gate 5 last start over the sprint trip and was a long way back in the pack when looking to make his run. Finding the line in good order the start prior after being buried in the run, he can do some work in his races and gets a chance to challenge.

BARBOO (2) has found form since switching barns and has managed to score wins in 3 of his past 4 outings. The latest win was a tidy effort from the 2nd line when arriving and he is in the mix again.

MAGHERA MAGGIE (7) found the 1x1 trail last start and with sectionals even throughout, she couldn’t finish it off. A softer run in the trail will suit here and she can chime into the exotics.

SELECTIONS: TRENTLEIGH (1), BEEJAYS DELIGHT (9), BARBOO (2), MAGHERA MAGGIE (7)
SUGGESTED BET: TRENTLEIGH (1) to win

RACE SIX

MY CARMEN (2) pressed ahead to find the front over this trip last start when sent to the post as fav and went down fighting when a half neck in arrears of the winner. Not suited from the 2nd line in a stronger mares race the start prior, she can find the front and will be trying to fight them off.

NON PASSARE (1) can mix his form and be hard to gauge, but at his best finds a winnable contest here. Tough in holding on for the bronze over the AP mile 4 starts back, he was a beaten fav at his next run here on the triangle over this trip. With a soft run on offer, he gets his chance.

ANDREW JAY (8) made the most of a front-line gate last start to lead throughout with a comfortable 11m margin up the sleeve in strong time. The 2nd line hurts but trailing through to find position, has claims.

READILY (9) has been the runner-up at his past 2 and despite a tricky gate here, can be working home strongly if the speed is genuine. Only beaten a half-head last start, look for him swooping.

SELECTIONS: MY CARMEN (2), NON PASSARE (1), ANDREW JAY (8), READILY (9)
SUGGESTED BET: MY CARMEN (2) to win

RACE SEVEN

IAM THE JOKER (1) didn’t have the speed to get across last start from gate 2 which saw the need to roll the sleeves in the breeze. Digging in for the fight, he went within 5m of the winner MAJOR LUCKY who has since won again at AP. Wide gates hurt in his previous few and with the chance to dictate here can bounce back.

CANDYFLOSS (7) led them up from gate 1 in a mares event over this trip 2 starts back when only grabbed in the latter stages to take the bronze. Not far away last start after retreating early and then charging home, she can appreciate the soft ride here and be ready to strike in the stretch.

IM TOOT (5) wasn’t suited last start when caught wide and forced to restrain. That was his 1st run back from a freshen and with the chance to press forward here can be thereabouts.

ZARAS HEAVEN (6) has no favours from the wide gate but if able to limit the work will be right in contention here. Only beaten an eyelash last start along the passing lane, she can feature.

SELECTIONS: IAM THE JOKER (1), CANDYFLOSS (7), IM TOOT (5), ZARAS HEAVEN (6)
SUGGESTED BET: IAM THE JOKER (1) to win

RACE EIGHT

REDDY FIRE (8) took on a stronger race at AP last start from gate 10 where he went looking for luck that never arrived when finishing down the line in a much stronger contest. Snagged back from a wide gate 2 starts back, he has the tough gate again here, but should appreciate this grade and can pinch the prize.

IDIOTS DREAM (1) chased gamely from back in the field last start and was able to grab the silver when 3m from the winner SCHOOBY. Still searching for a maiden breaking victory, he lands the ace gate here and with the soft run in transit can take a closing shot.

WRITEABOUTCHELSEA (3) has been runner-up at her past 2 starts, grabbed in the closing stages on each occasion. Beaten a half-neck last start, she can light the lamps again and will be gripping on.

CHANG (7) will need a slice of luck from this gate, but saved for a closing shot can be looking to weave a passage. Only 1m from the winner at Marburg 2 starts back, he is in the mix.

SELECTIONS: REDDY FIRE (8), IDIOTS DREAM (1), WRITEABOUTCHELSEA (3), CHANG (7)
SUGGESTED BET: REDDY FIRE (8) to win

RACE NINE

SIT DOWN WALTER (5) started from gate 10 last start and settled a long way back in the field. Making his run he was strong to the line in grabbing the bronze when 5m from the winner. A similar run the start prior when also off the 2nd line, he is getting closer to a win and a front-line gate helps.

IMPRESSIVE DIAMOND (6) will take good benefit from her return to the track last start to kick-off her 4YO term. From the 2nd line she settled back in the field and worked home wide off the track to finish mid-field. Despite the wide gate, this is an easier assignment and she can challenge.

TORQUE TO THE MAX (2) took the trail last start from gate 1 and with the cosy trip finished best to land a half-neck victory. Forced to do plenty of work the start prior, she can settle handy and has claims.

CHEYENNE AUTUMN (3) went to the pegs from gate 10 last start to look for the short-cuts home and was able pinch the bronze. This is her best gate for some time and she can look to capitalise.

SELECTIONS: SIT DOWN WALTER (5), IMPRESSIVE DIAMOND (6), TORQUE TO THE MAX (2), CHEYENNE AUTUMN (3)
SUGGESTED BET: SIT DOWN WALTER (5) to win
