With the curtain raisers all over, it’s grand final time at the Gold Coast on Saturday in both the Magic Millions Classic and Magic Millions Guineas.

The only dream remaining for most trainers, jockeys and owners is a favourable barrier draw which takes place at the Gold Coast on Tuesday for the two rich features.

Queensland will go into the $2 million Magic Millions Classic as clear underdogs with Gotta Kiss, Dusty Tycoon and Wisdom of Water our best hopes in current TAB markets.

All three are $11 chances in latest betting behind $5.50 favourite Aim from the Peter and Paul Snowden stable in Sydney.

Gai Waterhouse is chasing her fifth Magic Millions Classic win with Farnan, who produced a brilliant exhibition gallop between races at the Gold Coast last Saturday.

Waterhouse, who trains in partnership with Adrian Bott, last won the Magic Millions Classic with Driefontein in 2012.

It followed her previous wins with Dance Hero (2004), Excellerator (2001) and Assertive Lad (2000).

Farnan hasn’t raced since winning last month’s Wyong Magic Millions and will be attempting to emulate Capitalist who won the NSW feature before taking out the Magic Millions Classic in 2016.

Queensland has a proud record in recent Magic Millions Classics winning with Phelan Ready (2009), Military Rose (2010), Real Surreal (2013), Le Chef (2015) and Houtzen (2017).

Unlike the Magic Millions Classic, Queensland is favoured to win the Magic Millions Guineas with the David Vandyke-trained hotpot Alligator Blood who is a $1.90 favourite.

Alligator Blood was beaten in the last bound when second in the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas in October before returning home to win the Listed Gold Edition Stakes and Group 3 Vo Rogue Plate at Eagle Farm last month.

It’s also a massive week for Magic Millions yearling sales which kicks off its massive six-day sale on Wednesday.

More than 1000 yearlings are set to go under the hammer at the Gold Coast Magic Millions Yearling sales which features the progeny of 97 individual stallions including a record 29 first season sires.
