Trainer – Ethan Ensby

“He was all set to go in at Eagle Farm last week, but only a young colt and with the rain we thought we err on the side of caution and scratch him as this looked a nice race for him as well.”

“We were happy to take the front if the tempo was slow, but the two leaders clapped it on up front and he showed he had no problem covering the 2200 metres.”

“Nori rode him a treat didn’t get in a speed battle let him settle in the box seat and gave him a bit of reign around the corner, he’s my best mate he’s ridden both of my Saturday metro winners now.”

“Long term we may think about the Sydney Derby, but he is only young and he has a lot of options.”

Jockey – Noriyuka Masuda

“I ride this horse at trackwork for Ethan every week, I feel like I know him well and he responds to me to.”

“I was going to lead but they went fast up front and he was a bit green in the straight but ran the trip.”

“She’s been hard on these sort of days you worry about her coming up in the float because she’s not a great traveller.”

“She let go when she got to the middle of the track, she ducked in a little bit but I think there’s still a bit of improvement with her.”

“I usually like to give them another mile and step them up in increments after that but I don’t think she’ll have any dramas getting further.”

“I’ve got just the six in work at the moment, but that’s alright when they’re winning.”

Jockey – Brad Stewart

“She ducked out from underneath me and tossed me off, but no harm and it was a nice win.”

“She got in a good spot early and was able to put her to sleep and get her to the right part of the track and was too good.”

“We were probably a little bit disappointed with her down the Gold Coast, we wanted to sneak into the Magic Millions and she ran into the favourite and never really travelled in that race at all.”

“I said to Matty you’ve got to get her to the outside to the crown of the track and he executed it perfectly.”

“I was watching my other two runners and next minute I saw her flash down the outside.”

“Her first up run was huge and she’s a promising Spill the Beans filly who’ll probably get further and she’s shown she’s got a big finish.”

“I was a little bit disappointed with The Brotherhood, he’s had a lot of work first time in so he might just have come to the end of his tether, but he’s better than what he showed today.”

“With this win it opens up options and the first one if probably the QTIS Jewel.”

Jockey – Matthew McGillivray

“She’s only little but she’s got a nice motor underneath her.”

“It’s something you say a lot with young horses but she’s going to be a lot better when she gets further, I think 1400-1600 will be her pet distance.”

“They slackened the pace up the back and she was still good enough to follow Queen Kay home and put them away with authority.”

“I had a little bit each way at the big price.”

“She always races well fresh and I said to Steph give her a squeeze early and see where she wants to be.”

“I knew the distance wasn’t going to be a worry she’s a 1400 metre horse and she’s always raced well fresh.”

“At the top of the straight I thought when she lets down here they’re never going to get her.”

“I’ve learned a lot more about her and I think the secret is to keep her fresh gap her runs.”

Jockey – Steph Thornton

“I thought she would run a nice race, but was probably suited over further.”

“great training effort by Craig to bring her here today with the blinkers and the pacifier on she was ready to go.”

“He told me to give her a dig early and she took me to a really forward spot and once I pressed the button she did the rest.”

“Tony is on paternity leave at the Karaka Millions, we’ve got in under control here.”

“Steph is riding great at the moment I said to her try to camp midfield peel off and get to the crown, she rode to instruction and the horse was excellent.”

“I could see him coming at the top of the straight, when Spurcraft gave a kick I thought we might not get there, but he pulled out plenty.”

“I’ve seen him beaten in some bad fields and he’s come out and beaten a ripping field today.”

Jockey – Steph Thornton

“He flew the gates today and could have settled a lot closer, but Craig had said get him some cover and hopefully Spurcraft and Tarzan would come back to the field.”

“When I got him out he went through his gears and with 52.5 kilos it’s a lot easier to run them down.”

“He’s proved that he’s up to open class today there were some serious horses he beat.”

“She’s always been there abouts in previous preps with quite getting there, it’s been really nice to see her find her feet this time in and become a really nice mare.”

“She’s a lovely filly and she’s just thickened up int a really nice mare who’s fit and got a great ride from Jimmy.”

“She’s a tough little thing and doesn’t like to get beaten at the moment.”

Jockey – Jimmy Orman

“It worked out well we got a nice run one out one back aiming to get to the crown of the track first and it played out nicely.”

“She had mixed form last prep and looks a different horse this time around, she really eats up the 1200.”

“It panned out a little differently than we thought the plan was to go back and ride him steady and find the line.”

“Brad obviously summed things up on the fly got it nice and soft in front and when he led them into the straight he wasn’t going to get beaten.”

“We’ll take him home and space his runs he’s a versatile galloper who will handle whatever we throw at him.”

Jockey – Brad Stewart

“He jumped well and we just sort of landed there I didn’t have much say in it he did things his own way and was the best horse.”

“When I gave him a squeeze I knew there would be plenty there after we got away with a few cheap sectionals.”

“He’s effective up to 1400 metres and wouldn’t be out of his depth in a listed race down the track.”

“It’s a credit to the whole team back home who’ve worked hard to bring her back in great condition and I can’t say enough about the ride from Brad at short notice.”

“There wasn’t too much panic you don’t lose much putting Brad on we were lucky he was available.”

“It was a bit scary the last twenty metres but she showed a bit of grit she’s a real race horse.”

“We’re going to try to go to the QTIS Jewel if she comes through this well which she should.”

Jockey – Brad Stewart

“We had the run of the race we didn’t get pocketed away at all I was able to ease out three wide and find the best part of the track.”

3-1.jpeg

Stable Rep – Matt Hoystead

“It’s well deserved he had no luck last start Magic Millions day after lobbing in a wonderful spot behind Champagne Cuddles who unfortunately went amiss, and it was race over for us.”

“We knew he was still in great shape coming into this race and to deliver a Sunshine Coast Cup win after that disappointment is a real pick up for the stable.”

“We’ve always taken it slowly with him we’ve been patient with him but next preparation we’ll be looking to take the next step with him.”

“Races like the BRC Sprint in the winter carnival are probably right up his alley, but he’s due for a couple of weeks in the paddock now till we re-access.”

“Boris does so much work for the stable he earnt this ride and gave it a ten out of ten.”

Jockey – Boris Thornton

“Steph was extremely happy for me to get my first listed winner with her up here it’s just great.”

“Everything that could have went wrong went wrong on Magic Millions day and it’s a big credit to Steve, Matty and the whole team to keep him on track for this race.”

“I can’t thank them enough for sticking by me, I knew he had the ability and its great to come out and show it, it means a lot it really does.”

3rd – Stuttering – Robert Heathcote – Jimmy Orman

4-1.jpeg

Trainer – Toby Edmonds

“She probably didn’t deserve to be $26, I know she was beaten here on a Friday night but her run was super the pattern didn’t suit her and she found the line strongly and we wanted to get her to the mile today for a foundation for an Oaks preparation.”

“She goes out now she needs to mature a bit more she’s a big girl and needs to fill out.”

“Matty rode her beautifully took all the breaks and found the outside late.”

Jockey – Matthew McGillivray

“It’s my second meeting back and I’ve had nine rides, but it’s always worth it for a winner and I’ll sleep very well tonight.”

“I wanted to be in front of a few but the tempo was nice enough and we were able to sneak runs on the fence, saved ground from the 800 and you saw how well she let down.”

“With that turn of foot it’s going to stand her in good stead over further distance, I’d love to be on her in The Oaks.”
