Bryan Guy has been training on the Gold Coast for more than two decades since moving from Sydney, however the four-time Group 1-winning trainer is yet to taste success in his hometown Magic Millions 2YO Classic.

Guy has been training in partnership with son Daniel in recent times and is hopeful talented youngster Golden Artie can give the pair their first win in the $2 million feature at the Gold Coast on Saturday.

In latest TAB markets, Golden Artie is a $21 chance behind hotpot Coolangatta at $1.85 for the Magic Millions 2YO Classic.

Golden Artie was cheap $30,000 buy at the Magic Millions sales last year and was narrowly beaten by one of the state's top youngsters Palazzo Spirit at Eagle Farm in his debut in October.

The son of Artie Schiller rocketed into the Magic Millions contention after winning at Doomben on New Year’s Day.

Drawing a horror barrier 17 hasn’t stopped Team Guy from dreaming big.

“He’ll come into 13 if the emergencies don’t get runs so I’m not too disappointed,” Bryan Guy said.

“He’s not a speed horse and we’re hoping to get on the back of Coolangatta.

“And we’ve got the right jockey in Ben Thompson to do it.”

Guy has been training for 30 years after taking over the Rosehill stables of his late father, Ray, who died in 1992.

He made a permanent shift to the Gold Coast after Daniel successfully set-up a satellite stable in 1999.

“This horse should have won all three races,” Guy said.

“It was only inexperience that beat him in his first start when he ran second at Eagle Farm then we spelled him.

“He was unlucky at the Sunshine Coast first-up and his last win was very impressive.”

While Guy has never won the Magic Millions 2YO Classic, he has placed on two occasions, highlighting that Magic Millions Day has been good to him.

“I’ve run a couple of placings in this race before but Magic Millions Day has been good to us,” he said.

“I’ve won the Magic Millions Cup, the Stayer’s Cup and the Fillies & Mares race and run a couple of placings in the three-year-old race.”

Guy has restricted his numbers in recent times and is happy with a team of 23 in work.

“I’ve never won the Magic Millions Classic and I’ve never won the Gold Coast premiership either but I have won a Brisbane trainers’ premiership,” he said.

Guy's last winner at the highest level was star performer Eagle Way who won the Queensland Derby at Eagle Farm in 2016 before heading to Hong Kong.

His other Group 1 wins were with Ravarda in the George Ryder Stakes at Rosehill in 1996 and the JJ Atkins in 1995, as well as All Our Mob in the 1994 Stradbroke Handicap.
