Racing Queensland has agreed to increase the standard driver fee for harness racing to $55, commencing 27 August 2018.

Racing Queensland CEO Brendan Parnell thanked the Breeders, Owners, Trainers and Reinspersons Association (Qld) (BOTRA)for their positive contribution to the negotiation process.

“We are committed to increasing our returns to participants in a sustainable way. Queensland is financially disadvantaged in comparison to southern states and that’s why its important we work closely with government on PoC tax implementation as well as our new commercial plan and the full benefits of the Tabcorp Tatts merger.”

BOTRA (Qld) President and Racing Queensland Harness Advisory Panel member Dan Costello welcomed the announcement by Racing Queensland. “The increase in driving fees will certainly be welcomed by all drivers and it’s good to see it starting in time for the new season.”

“We have seen some great outcomes lately for harness participants stemming from regular meetings between BOTRA and Racing Queensland and look forward to more positive news going forward.”
