RACE TWO

OKANAGAN (6) has been faultless in all 3 career starts and by virtue of his perfect manners, he has been able to complete a threepeat of victories. With wins off both the 10m and 20m handicaps where he has been able to find the front on each occasion, returning to the front line can see him maintain the perfect start.

IGNITE (5) has shown that there is some nice underlying ability and when he can put it all together on race day, will be tough to beat. Only 5m in arrears of OKANAGAN 2 starts back after making a mess of the start, he was again slowly away and having a good look around last start. Can challenge.

DEFENSIVE GUY (4) has shown the most week-to-week improvement in the 3 races held for the ‘babies’ to date and last start chased gamely for 2nd after taking the trail. He is in the mix again.

IMPERIAL POET (1) will be 1st up in Qld and will also be having his 1st race start from the tapes. If able to reproduce a run like his effort 2 starts back, he can be chiming in with the inside advantage.

SELECTIONS: OKANAGAN (6), IGNITE (5), DEFENSIVE GUY (4), IMPERIAL POET (1)
SUGGESTED BET: OKANAGAN (6) to win

RACE THREE

THE REAPER (2)
started from the 50m tape last start and his task was made tougher when striking trouble and going off-stride to end his chances. Fighting hard in the breeze the start prior when rolling forward from a 30m tape, he will appreciate the front line and is much better suited if allowed to roll up front.

IS SOMETHINGBURNING (11) bounced back in fine style last start from this same impost, finishing hard down the centre of the track to arrive for the prize. After taking some time to put it all together, she scored successive wins before getting up to her old tricks 2 starts back. She can threaten with a clean-gaited approach.

AVEROSS DON (8) has been runner-up at his past 2 starts, the latest when pressing ahead to take control. Leading deep into the stretch, he was nabbed near the line and can go close again here.

DAY TOURER (1) has great manners from the tapes and from the inside line will be in a prominent position in the early stages. Holding 3rd last start after releasing early, he will be right in the mix.

SELECTIONS: THE REAPER (2), IS SOMETHINGBURNING (11), AVEROSS DON (8), DAY TOURER (1)
SUGGESTED BET: THE REAPER (2) to win

RACE FOUR

GIDUP CAPTAIN (5)
was fast off the arm to take control in the early stages here last week only for the race to be abandoned owing to a fall. Fighting hard for 3rd 2 starts back when 4m in arrears of the winner HEARTBREAK. The gate is a little tricky, but the inexperienced runners to his inside might just work in his favour.

MY ULTIMATE HESTON (2) makes his race debut for trainer Donny Smith and has yet to be seen in Qld. Completing all his education and trials in Sydney with Jarrod Alchin, he has had 2 official trials in readiness for his debut. A half-brother to Bettor Bet Black, Taurisi and Kadar, he is on the radar.

ROYAL PRINCESS (1) has placed in 3 of 4 career starts and looks set to enjoy a great run in transit here. Off the pegs at the 400m as the leader was tiring here last week, she was left chasing and with some work to do. Gate 1 is a big plus.

CHAMONIX (8) has placed in 2 of his 5 starts as he looks for his 1st victory, the latest when a half-neck from the huge priced winner SUPERBON. With the early options as the lone 2nd line runner, he can feature.

SELECTIONS: GIDUP CAPTAIN (5), MY ULTIMATE HESTON (2), ROYAL PRINCESS (1), CHAMONIX (8)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE FIVE

ANOTHER STATEMENT (9) returns to the Shannon Price barn and lines up after a last start 3rd in the Triad Final when chasing hard behind GOVERNOR JUJON. Opening the pipes in a trial, it was a smart effort when hitting the line together with PELOSI. There looks plenty of front-end power for him to swoop late.

SOHO TSUNAMI (6) made an immediate impact at his 1st Qld start when pouncing on the poles from gate 2 and taking them all the way in a strong mile. Beaten by the gate last start when forced to retreat with the power underneath him and down the line behind WILL THE WIZARD, he can bounce back.

OUR FRIEND (5) finally put it together last start and sent forward was never in danger, keeping the power on all the way to run the mile in 53 flat. With the confidence builder, he can throw it down.

HAVING THE FAITH (10) backs up from Sat night where he found conditions to suit from gate 1 in scoring a dominant victory. His run 2 starts back behind subsequent winner GOOD AS IT GETS was strong and he is right in this.

SELECTIONS: ANOTHER STATEMENT (9), SOHO TSUNAMI (6), OUR FRIEND (5), HAVING THE FAITH (10)
SUGGESTED BET: ANOTHER STATEMENT (9) to win

RACE SIX

MY ULTIMATE CLIPPA (4) is a royally bred colt on debut by Art Major out the dam Colada Belle who is a half-sister to Blacks A Fake. Presented by Donny Smith for this assignment the colt has been educated and trialled smartly in preparation for this with Jarrod Alchin. His trial suggests he can open in style.

STEEVEN (1) is on debut for Charlie Cini and ranks as a half-sister to the champion mare Forever Gold. Given an ease up after a smart trial back in April, he was again at the trials on June 9 when leading them up, he just faded in the closing strides. From the gate, he stays under notice.

FAST TRACKER (6) has the race experience advantage over a few of his rivals here and comes into this fresh off the Breeders Consolation. Runner-up at Redcliffe 2 starts back, he is a podium chance.

SHERBETS CHOICE (3) will take good benefit from his debut when 4m from the multiple winner WHATTA GOOD REASON in a smart closing half. Settling handy he can be in the mix here.

SELECTIONS: MY ULTIMATE CLIPPA (4), STEEVEN (1), FAST TRACKER (6), SHERBETS CHOICE (3)
SUGGESTED BET: MY ULTIMATE CLIPPA (4) to win

RACE SEVEN

COREY WILLIAM (3)
was set alight in the early stages last start to find the front from gate 7, keeping the power on throughout. Digging in for the fight, he was only collared in the closing stages when 3m in arrears of the prize. Not suited at the 2138m 2 starts back, he can get out and go in this.

FEELINGFORAMIRACLE (1) has good early speed but looks set to get the prefect trip in behind the speed here. Eased into the 1x1 trail last start, he was 8m from the winner SIR JULIAN in a tidy effort. Forced to do it tough in the breeze the start prior form gate 7 over the 2138m, he can challenge.

STOMPEM (7) will take good benefit from his latest outing when 1st up off a 5-week freshen. Snagged back form gate 6 over the 2138m, he was attacking the line nicely with nothing from the rear really making an impact. He is a podium chance.

LEXUS ON THE BEACH (5) rolled forward from gate 4 last start and was doing it the tough way when within 4m of the winner OUTLAW FELLA. He can do the work and will be in the mix here.

SELECTIONS: COREY WILLIAM (3), FEELINGFORAMIRACLE (1), STOMPEM (7), LEXUS ON THE BEACH (5)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE EIGHT

BETTERTHANDIAMONDS (6) has been in nice touch since returning to kick-off her 3YO term. Sent forward from gate 7 over this trip 2 starts back, she was able to back it off through the 2nd panel before dialling it up to score by 2m, with a further 18m back to 3rd. Fading after a tough run in the breeze outside WILL THE WIZARD last start, she can bounce back with a bang.

FAVOURITEHIGHLIGHT (1) was a Redcliffe winner 3 starts back when buried in the run and attacking the line with gusto when the gap opened to score in fine style. Locked away in the Triad Consolation last start, she returns to Shannon Price and from the gate can get a cosy trip to make a closing play.

BETTERTHANSPRAYING (5) came back for just a single start last prep before being sent back to the paddock. A winner at 2 of her 6 starts here at The Creek, she has trialled soundly in preparation for the return.

SCHEU CREEK (8) will be relying on a slice of luck at some stage but with a cosy trip will be probing for openings to chime in. Always facing a task against the tempo after retreating from gate 7, he will not be too far away.

SELECTIONS: BETTERTHANDIAMONDS (6), FAVOURITEHIGHLIGHT (1), BETTERTHANSPRAYING (5), SCHEU CREEK (8)
SUGGESTED BET: BETTERTHANDIAMONDS (6) to win

RACE NINE

MAYWYNS BEST (10) is arguably in career peak form with a pair of wins and a pair of 2nds in his past 4 starts. Pressing ahead from gate 7 to take control last start, he was setting up a slick mile when collared near the wire. Closing strongly from the rear the start prior and only beaten a head, this looks well within reach.

CASINO TOMMY (8) returns from a Menangle campaign where he was able to score 1 victory. Down the line last start behind the smart ZAHVEN BANNER, he was not far away 2 starts back when doing it tough over the 2300m trip. If he can find the space in time, he can throw down the challenge.

SABRAGE (7) was buried on the pegs from inside the 2nd line last start and made the most of a hot-tempo to peel when the gap arrived and charge down the stretch to claim a career PB in sub 52. The gate stings, but he is in this fight.

FIOKI (5) was not suited by the hot tempo last start over the mile. Back to the 2138m here looks ideal and if he can position cheaply from the sticky gate, he will be in the mix.

SELECTIONS: MAYWYNS BEST (10), CASINO TOMMY (8), SABRAGE (7), FIOKI (5)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 5-7-8-10

RACE TEN

PELOSI (3) was the star 2YO of last season and went to the paddock after claiming the G1 NSW Breeders Challenge. Returning with a tough win over the 2138m in late March, she then had to take on effectively open class mares at her next 2 where although beaten, she was mighty gallant in defeat. With a sharp trial in readiness, she can return in style.

B MAC C (5) eased from gate 7 last start and saved for one shot was really attacking the line strongly to be5m from the winner, running some smart sectionals in the process. Forced to tough it out in the breeze at his previous 2 starts, positioning cheaply here can see him make a closing play.

STREET APPEAL (6) will move out to gate 7 after making an error soon after release last time out. Forced to do the heavy lifting outside JIGGLE AND JIVE, he wilted under the pressure. He is a podium chance here.

TIMELESS APPEAL (1) secured the 1x1 trail last start after doing some early work to find the running line from gate 4 before finishing within 6m of the winner. The inside gate is a big plus and avails the options.

SELECTIONS: PELOSI (3), B MAC C (5), STREET APPEAL (6), TIMELESS APPEAL (1)
SUGGESTED BET: PELOSI (3) to win
