RACE TWO

A tricky 2YO to line-up here with some debutants, NSW form and local form thrown together. Leaning to TORQUE TO THE MUSIC (1) that has the race experience and backs up from a nice effort here on Saturday night when making late ground behind DANGERZONE. With the right trip, this might just be his day.

ZACHAROONI (2) made his first race appearance back in February at Penrith when making an error. Put away following that run, he has tuned up at the Penrith trials with a smart effort in scoring by a big margin. From the gate he will get every chance to make his presence felt.

SPEAK THE TRUTH (5) has faced the starter on two occasions and been able to place in both. Hitting the line smartly last start behind AWAYWEGO to grab 3rd, the added experience can see him feature.

BEACH MAGIC (4) is a Somebeachsomewhere gelding on debut for Shannon Price. His first trial was a tidy effort behind the unbeaten DANGERZONE, and he stays under notice.

SELECTIONS: TORQUE TO THE MUSIC (1), ZACHAROONI (2), SPEAK THE TRUTH (5), BEACH MAGIC (4)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE THREE

PUMA ROAD (5)
looks extremely well graded here from the 10m tape after his two runs since arriving in Qld. From 20m against the open class performers when buried in the run, he was then off 50m on Friday. Making an early error, he reset and was game in defeat. This looks ideal.

GUNNER (6) had his chances dashed last start by a costly error as he was nearer the rear. That had followed three successive 2nd placed runs where he was beaten no further than a head on any occasion. From the 10m tape he can throw down a big challenge.

VAN SANK (11) resumes from a spell after his last appearance back in March in the McNeil Memorial when game in defeat behind UNKNOWN SON. With a sharp trial hit out, he is in the mix fresh.

DOWN UNDER RORS (12) has been hitting some nice areas in recent outings, the latest when working home strongly from a rearward position to grab 3rd. He can be thereabouts.

SELECTIONS: PUMA ROAD (5), GUNNER (6), VAN SANK (11), DOWN UNDER RORS (12)
SUGGESTED BET: PUMA ROAD (5) to win

RACE FOUR

A winner at 2 of his 3 starts in his 2YO season, UNCLE SHANK (2) makes his return here and finds the right gate and conditions to look for a winning return. Last seen back in July where he ripped home a sub 27 closing panel from the front end, he has opened the pipes with a smart preparatory trial.

AYE AYE CAPTAIN (10) has been kept fresh since his last appearance when midfield to CHAMONIX in an APG event. A passing lane 3rd to FRONTLINER 2 starts back, he has been back to the trials where he returned an effort that suggests he can be in the mix here.

ALLMIGHTY MAX (9) was sent forward early from gate 4 to find the front before releasing and then holding on for 3rd behind the big winner KASHED UP. With the early trail through, he can feature.

PRESS STATEMENT (4) started from the 2nd line last time out when midfield behind OUR BELLA LUCIA. He wilted when leading first up here 2 starts back and can be sharper here.

SELECTIONS: UNCLE SHANK (2), AYE AYE CAPTAIN (10), ALLMIGHTY MAX (9), PRESS STATEMENT (4)
SUGGESTED BET: Trifecta 2 / 4-9-10

RACE FIVE

UNCLE LUKEY (6) does not receive any favours from the wide gate but if able to limit the early burn, might just get his chance to capitalise. Forced to grind it out last start when parked as THE RACONTEUR took the prize, it was not in his favour the start prior. He is worth a ticket here.

NINA SIMONE (4) was resuming from a spell over the mile here last time out when firing off the arm from gate 3 to find the front before releasing for the trail. Using the passing lane to make her shot a winning one, that kept her undefeated in 2 AP starts. With added fitness she can challenge again.

ONE LAST ROLL (9) has placed in 6 of 6 runs this season, the latest when making a closing play at Redcliffe to be a half-neck in arrears of the winner. Positioning handy, he can add another minor.

WHATA TERROR (8) has hit the board in 4 of his 5 career starts and lines up in Qld for the 1st time for visiting NSW trainer Gemma Hewitt. Needing a rub of the green at some point, he will be probing.

SELECTIONS: UNCLE LUKEY (6), NINA SIMONE (4), ONE LAST ROLL (9), WHATA TERROR (8)
SUGGESTED BET: UNCLE LUKEY (6) to win

RACE SIX

GENERAL MONTANA (3)
showed the benefit of a good alley last start when firing out early to find the front and once in control took them all the way for a smart 1.54.4 maiden breaking victory. It just was not in his favour when 1st up from a spell and he can go back-to-back from this gate.

LADY AVANA (5) was making her 1st appearance in the Sunshine State after arriving from NZ when sent forward from gate 6 to find the breeze. Working hard in the run she was game in defeat when 1m in arrears of the winner. Fitter for the run, the gate stings again, but she can look to throw it down.

SWEET APPEAL (4) was searching for runs last start and was strong to the line when 3rd behind CALL ME KEITH over the mile. Chasing behind TALENT TO SPARE the start prior, she is in the mix here.

LANCELOT BROMAC (6) keeps on keeping on and despite the wide gate, should get some suitable conditions here. With a likely strong tempo, look for him in the latter stages chiming in.

SELECTIONS: GENERAL MONTANA (3), LADY AVANA (5), SWEET APPEAL (4), LANCELOT BROMAC (6)
SUGGESTED BET: GENERAL MONTANA (3) to win

RACE EIGHT

ANOTHER STATEMENT (1)
was sent straight to the front here 2 starts back and from the front was never in danger, taking them all the way for a comfortable victory. Repelled for the leading rights last week, he dropped in for a trail when 3rd to WATTS UP SUNSHINE. This looks right in the wheelhouse from this gate.

VIRGIL (8) can slide through to be glued to the back of the 1 and from there will be coiled and ready to strike when the passing lane presents. Only beaten a half-head here 2 starts back, the wide gate was his undoing last start behind WATTS UP SUNSHINE. He will be ready to strike.

DELIGHTFUL MAJOR (10) returned from a spell with a sound 3rd behind the in-form and subsequent winner WITH THE BAND. Cashing in 2nd up, it did not go to plan last start but he can bounce back.

LEFT A TERROR (3) might need to do it the tough way here, but he can handle work if required. Fading last start in a much stronger race behind TWO TIMES BETTOR, he will be thereabouts.

SELECTIONS: ANOTHER STATEMENT (1), VIRGIL (8), DELIGHTFUL MAJOR (10), LEFT A TERROR (3)
SUGGESTED BET: ANOTHER STATEMENT (1) to win

RACE NINE

In a tricky little 2138m event to close the card, the NSW visitor THE ANNOUNCER (9) might just have found the right conditions to overturn a win drought. A beaten fav last start at Goulburn, he was strong to the line over the Menangle mile the start prior when 9m from BUNDORAN and can look to make the closing shot here.

THE DEMOCRAT (5) was sent forward from this gate last start over this trip and forced to roll the sleeves to do the work. In for the fight, he held on for the bronze behind ROCKNROLL CLASSIC. That followed a strong close-out from a 2nd line gate and in this line-up can throw it down once more.

COURAGEOUS SAINT (8) started from gate 1 here on Saturday night when taking the trail and then holding on for the bronze behind PETES SAID SO. Needing a slice of luck, he will be probing for openings.

CHERRYS THE BEST (6) resumes from a spell without the benefit of a public trial so should take further benefit from the outing. Retreating last start before strong to the line, she can feature fresh.

SELECTIONS: THE ANNOUNCER (9), THE DEMOCRAT (5), COURAGEOUS SAINT (8), CHERRYS THE BEST (6)
SUGGESTED BET: THE ANNOUNCER (9) to win
