Leading Rockhampton trainer Tom Button is anxious to unleash ‘explosive’ filly Gypsy Toff at Callaghan Park on Thursday, following a blistering 10.5 length trial win last month.

The Toorak Toff filly easily accounted for more experienced two-year-olds Saqsaywaman and Hot Chocolate on her first trip to the barriers on February 23.

Gypsy Toff completed the 900m in 56.66sec – 0.07sec faster than the open class trial on the day.

The impressive performance has the twice-premier trainer excited to see whether the filly can show the same speed on debut, when she lines up from barrier 10 in the ROBO'S TYRE WORKS QTIS Two-Years-Old Fillies Maiden Handicap (2.30pm).

“She is a lovely filly with speed to burn.” He said.

“All the hard work is done with her now, and she’ll head to the races on Thursday.”

Button compared Gypsy Toff to 2017 Capricornia Yearling Sale 2YO Classic runner-up The Bank Manager, which unfortunately died in a paddock accident last year.

He will look to go one better in the 2018 Classic with Gypsy Toff.

“She has a lot of the same qualities – fast, explosive and loves to run,” Button said.

Gypsy Toff isn’t the only juvenile in the Button stable that looks to have ability, with Ruby Georgie and The Tax Accountant winning trials on the same day by 7.25 and 1.25 lengths respectively.
