RACE TWO

TRILIGHT BRIGADE (5) was too strong from the breeze here 3 starts back to take out a mares qualifier and was fighting hard at her next run when 5m from ANNIKA MAGIC in a race similar to this from gate 9. Holding on to score last start, she moves back to the front line and can take this.

JOSSIE JAMES (8) had been knocking on the door and was just waiting to get conditions to suit after placing in 4 of her 5 previous starts. She landed the right race tempo last start and let down with a slick last 200m to score. She will need some luck here but can be attacking the line late to challenge.

ROCKNROLL EMMA (1) was starting from the 2nd line in a mares qualifier here 2 starts back and came with a well-judged run to arrive in time over the mile. Close up last start the gate is a big plus.

GRINVIL (4) has been runner-up at her past 2 starts when narrowly beaten. She was closing strongly from the 2nd line when a half-neck away last start and if finding early position is in the mix.

SELECTIONS: TRILIGHT BRIGADE (5), JOSSIE JAMES (8), ROCKNROLL EMMA (1), GRINVIL (4)
SUGGESTED BET: TRILIGHT BRIGADE (5) to win

RACE THREE

LINCOLN ROAD (8) has marched his way through the grades since arriving in Qld with 8 wins in his past 9 starts. He had little trouble in dictating in front to an all the way victory to open his band assessment last start. He will need plenty of luck and maybe some pilot magic but is going too well.

GASMONKEY (1) started fav here on Tues and was forced to do the hard yards in the breeze. He looked gone but was in for the fight and knuckled down to rally back and was only beaten 1.5m. Runner-up his previous 2 starts, he will need to hustle early but should be ready to strike late.

SPIKE BROMAC (10) charged out from gate 5 to lead them up and once in control was never in danger here 2 starts back. He closed out strongly when 3rd to CLINTAL DO last start and can repeat.

WEEDONS EXPRESS (4) has some slippery early moves and can fire out to take control here. Not suited in the breeze last start over the 2138m, he gets back to the mile and will be gripping on.

SELECTIONS: LINCOLN ROAD (8), GASMONKEY (1), SPIKE BROMAC (10), WEEDONS EXPRESS (4)
SUGGESTED BET: LINCOLN ROAD (8) to win

RACE FOUR

IMTHE GOLDEN CHILD (2)
had put the writing on the wall with some strong finishes that were not getting the reward for the effort and was able to capitalise last start. Finishing strongly down the centre of the track he arrived for a stylish win. With good early speed he can look to go back-to-back.

SPEEDIE MCARDLE (1) found the pegs from gate 3 last start and looked to take them all the way over the mile when fading late and finishing 9m from the winner as the beaten fav. Only 3m from ITS JUST KENNY 4 starts back when 2nd, he can enjoy a soft trip and be ready to take the snipers shot.

THE IDES OF MARCH (8) will strip fitter from his latest start when resuming from a break and striking his flying stablemate SLICE OF HEAVEN. Needing some luck from the gate he has place claims.

SIR JULIAN (9) is never far from the action and added another minor placing last start when taking inside runs and beaten 5m behind SECRET JACK. That followed a late closing 2nd and can place again.

SELECTIONS: IMTHE GOLDEN CHILD (2), SPEEDIE MCARDLE (1), THE IDES OF MARCH (8), SIR JULIAN (9)
SUGGESTED BET: IMTHE GOLDEN CHILD (2) to win

RACE FIVE

COMPLY OR DIE (9) is the form claimer in Qld and will line up here looking to make it 5 successive victories. Sent to the front from gate 6 last start over the 2138m he kept an even tempo in front and was too strong. That followed victory in a band contest and despite the gate he looms as the one to beat.

DIVAS DELIGHT (1) circled them early from the 2nd line last start to set up outside COMPLY OR DIE and only caved in the latter stages. A winner here 3 starts back over this trip when taking control to score in good style, he will be leading them deep into the stretch trying to fight them off.

ZAC MAC (8) returned his best effort for some time last start when doing his share of early work from the 2nd line and then only falling 2.5m short of victory. With a cosy run on offer he wil be probing the gaps.

OUR MELS DREAM (4) started from inside the 2nd line last start and was too far back when trying to make his run. Hitting the line strongly here 2 starts back from the 2nd line, he is always thereabouts.

SELECTIONS: COMPLY OR DIE (9), DIVAS DELIGHT (1), ZAC MAC (8), OUR MELS DREAM (4)
SUGGESTED BET: COMPLY OR DIE (9) to win

RACE SIX

This shapes as a cracking McNeil final with the heats suggesting there might be clear air between the top few in the series and the rest of the field. However, it will be a capacity field which changes the outlook from the smaller field sizes of the heats and with a few of the leading hopes not the safest from the tapes, it shapes as a terrific final.

JEDDY R YA READY (7) was making his Aus debut in the 1st round when finding himself locked away against the markers and not seeing space until it was too late. Still attacking the line it was a tidy effort. Pressing forward to find the front in the 2nd round he was never in danger once in control. He can get a nice early run through and looks the one with the most progression through the heats.

GREG THE GREAT (5) made a mess of the start in the 1st round and that ended his chances. Slowly but safely away in round 2 he was sent to the breeze and in a 2 horse battle packed too many guns to take the win. The start is all important, but if close enough in the run he looms as a big danger.

REDRIVERDEBBA (14) has the 40m to overcome but has been consistent in both rounds and is normally a safe beginner. She arrived for the prize in the 1st round and if the tempo is right she will be charging home.

SCORCHED (9) didn’t have the cleanest run in the first round yet was finishing hard to get within 1.5m of the winner. Locked away on the pegs he never really had a shot at them in round 2. Look for him charging late.

SELECTIONS: JEDDY R YA READY (7), GREG THE GREAT (5), REDRIVERDEBBA (14), SCORCHED (9)
SUGGESTED BET: JEDDY R YA READY (7) to win

RACE SEVEN

SLICE OF HEAVEN (5) was being considered for a Sydney trip but opts to stay home and target this race. Pressing on to find the front in a small field last start he scored a career best win rate, closing out in a 27 flat panel. He finished best from the 2nd line here 2 starts back and he can take the next step here.

LILAC FLASH (6) hasn’t seen he front line in his past 5 starts but that hasn’t stopped him showing his wares in good style. Last start from gate 9 he finished with his trademark sit and sizzle when going past them and putting them away in great style. Just missing behind SLICE OF HEAVEN 2 starts back, look for him swooping hard.

BODHI TREE (8) will take good benefit from his latest start when resuming from a freshen. Settling in the running line from gate 3 he was able to grab the bronze when 4m away. With the cosy sit he will be ready to strike.

GLENFERRIE HOOD (7) is after the hat-trick after successive wins at the mile. From the 2nd line last start he packed too many guns late to arrive and despite the tough gate he will be in for the fight as will likely leader BEAVER (1) who was strong from the breeze last start and from the ace gate will be gripping on.

SELECTIONS: SLICE OF HEAVEN (5), LILAC FLASH (6), BODHI TREE (8), GLENFERRIE HOOD (7)
SUGGESTED BET: SLICE OF HEAVEN (5) to win

RACE EIGHT

GEE UP NEDDY (7)
was having his 1st start since joining the Jack Butler barn and making his 1st appearance in 5 months here last start. Locked away on the pegs when he was angled into open space he was attacking the line strongly to grab 3rd behind the dominant NEEDLE. With the added fitness, he is up to this.

MIRACLE RISING (4) made the most of mobile conditions here 2 starts back when starting from the 2nd line and working home over the top to score. Strong from the breeze last start he never shirked the task behind NEEDLE when holding 2nd and with good manners will be right in the fight.

MISTER GUNSEN (5) begins like a cannon from the tapes and if able to repeat that might just find himself in front soon after the start. A winner here 4 starts back in exactly that fashion he cannot be ignored.

OUR OVERANOVA (9) didn’t have the cleanest passage last start and was sent to the pegs when trying to make ground and never really featured. Fitter for the outing, a bounce back would be no surprise.

SELECTIONS: GEE UP NEDDY (7), MIRACLE RISING (4), MISTER GUNSEN (5), OUR OVERANOVA (9)
SUGGESTED BET: GEE UP NEDDY (7) to win

RACE NINE

MR KALYPSO (8)
was returning from a spell here 2 starts back and sent out a short-priced fav from the 2nd line had his colours lowered in Qld for the 1st time in 8 starts. The run was still full of merit and only beaten 2m. Atoning for the defeat with a passing lane win last start he can rebuild the picket fence.

CASINO GRIN (1) was sent forward from gate 5 over the 2138m trip here 3 starts back and took control to score a commanding victory. Not suited off gate 7 at his next start he used the passing lane last time to go within a head of victory. He will be trying to stave off the challengers in the stretch.

MR MEDDLE (2) made the most of the trail behind LINCOLN ROAD here 2 starts back and chased gamely for the silver with a further 11m back to 3rd. He can settle handy and be taking a late shot.

MAJORDOIT (5) took control from gate 2 at Redcliffe over the 2280m trip 2 starts back and ran a strong closing 800m to score. Trying to make ground against the tempo on Tues he can chime in.

SELECTIONS: MR KALYPSO (8), CASINO GRIN (1), MR MEDDLE (2), MAJORDOIT (5)
SUGGESTED BET: MR KALYPSO / CASINO GRIN (8/1) exacta

RACE TEN

INVINCIBLE LOXTON (3)
was locked behind the leader and winner GLENFERRIE HOOD here 2 starts back and was game in chasing to hold the silver. Locked away on the pegs last start he will be much better served getting into the running line here and with plenty of power can control this.

CLINTAL DO (2) put himself out of play last start when striking trouble, breaking gait and losing all chance. That followed a nice win when sitting in the pocket trail he was angled to the outside to arrive for a stylish win. He should get a perfect trip and be ready to let-down with a closing shot.

ITS JUST KENNY (1) found the pegs and trail here last start and chased hard behind LILAC FLASH to share the bronze when 6m away. He gets the options from the gate and is in the mix.

SMOOTH SHOWGIRL (8) was snagged back from gate 5 last start and was hitting the line strongly to finish 5m from the winner GLENFERRIE HOOD. Sweating on the 1 holding, she will be coiled and ready to strike.

SELECTIONS: INVINCIBLE LOXTON (3), CLINTAL DO (2), ITS JUST KENNY (1), SMOOTH SHOWGIRL (8)
SUGGESTED BET: INVINCIBLE LOXTON (3) to win
