RACE TWO

TUAPEKA LIGHT (3) was 1st up in Qld over the mile here 2 starts back and after settling in the running line came with a well-timed run to arrive for the prize in a tidy closing 800m. 2nd up at 2138m she met a returning SMART AS CAMM BE and hit the line nicely to grab the silver. Her early speed will be tested here, but she looks to have the class.

ESCALERA (5) boxed on gamely from the breeze when beaten a neck at his 3YO return and was luckless when locked away 2nd up. Making the most of gate 1 last start he took control and with the lamp lighting duties was never in danger to score a strong win at the mile. The 2138m just presents a nagging query.

IM NO OUTLAW (6) was having just his 3rd race start last time out when settling in the pocket trail he had too much power up the passing lane to score. The wide gates hurts his chances but with added race experience he won’t be far away.

SELECTIONS: TUAPEKA LIGHT (3), ESCALERA (5), IM NO OUTLAW (6)
SUGGESTED BET: TUAPEKA LIGHT (3) to win

RACE THREE

JEDDY R YA READY (5) hit the line strongly in the 1st round of the McNeil Series to grab 2nd and then in the 2nd round made his own luck when rolling forward for a classy win. His run in the final was arguably as good as the winner SCORCHED who will line up in R4 today and w a smaller field he looks hard to stop.

GREG THE GREAT (8) was strong to the line to grab the bronze in the McNeil final from the 10m tape. He then went to Redcliffe over the mobile 2280m where he made a mess of the start but was responsible for a top run when working to the breeze and finishing 2nd to SPIRIT WALKER. He can go close.

MISS INVASION (7) was again away cleanly in the McNeil final when able to press on and take control and setting even panels in front was grabbed in the latter stages. Getting back to the 2138m will suit and she won’t be far away.

MELPARK MAGIC (3) makes his Qld debut for John Cremin and will be 1st up since January when only 2m from the winner ALDEBARAN WILLOW over the Melton mobile 1720m. He was slowly away in a recent trial but closed out nicely and stays under notice here.

SELECTIONS: JEDDY R YA READY (5), GREG THE GREAT (8), MISS INVASION (7), MELPARK MAGIC (3)
SUGGESTED BET: JEDDY R YA READY (5) to win

RACE FOUR

SCORCHED (5)
is safe beginner that should be able to make light work of the 10m impost. Quickly forward and in position off his 30m mark, he then was able to finish over the top to claim a strong McNeil Final over this trip. Both his heat runs where strong and he can take the step up here.

JUSTABITLIKEMUM (1) will appreciate getting back to a front-line mark after coming from 40m through the most notable form reference of the McNeil series. She struggled from the handicap through that series and then last start from the mobile chased gamely for 3rd. Back to the front she will be sharper.

MATATOKI (9) will take good benefit from his latest outing when returning from a freshen over this trip. Finding the 1x1 in the run, his condition just faded in the closing stages. He can be thereabouts.

SHADY SADIE (7) was off the 10m tape here last start and after working in the breeze chased valiantly for 3rd behind the dictating leader SPIRIT WALKER. A good winner 2 starts back she can feature here.

SELECTIONS: SCORCHED (5), JUSTABITLIKEMUM (1), MATATOKI (9), SHADY SADIE (7)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE FIVE

SOMEMONDOSOMEWHERE (4) was 2nd up from a freshen here last time out and was snagged back from this same gate over the 2138m trip. Making a 3-wide run from the 800m he was still grafting away at the line when 10m off the winner. Possessing good early speed when asked, he might just be able to find the pegs to sneak away with this.

CRACKA STRIDE (5) was away smartly from gate 4 last start and bullied his way to the front and only faded in the closing stages when 3rd to the in-form SIR JULIAN. The early tactics will be important here but if able to limit the burn in the early stages he will be right in the fight.

LEXUS ON THE BEACH (2) is on the back-up from Sat night where he worked hard in the run and was grinding away but couldn’t quite land the knockout. He will likely need to work again here.

MARK OF INTEGRITY (9)
comes out of the same race as LEXUS ON THE BEACH on Sat night where he settled back in the pack and was making good closing metres. An AP winner 6 starts back he is in the mix.

SELECTIONS: LEXUS ON THE BEACH (2), SOMEMONDOSOMEWHERE (4), CRACKA STRIDE (5), MARK OF INTEGRITY (9)
SUGGESTED BET: LEXUS ON THE BEACH (2) to win

RACE SIX

JUST DEAL IT (3)
continues to hone her craft and has been top-3 in 4 of 6 career outings. Taking on experienced campaigners she continue to hold her own and is showing the benefit of experience. Off a 1 month freshen here 2 starts back she was only beaten a half-head and receiving the right run in transit can continue the rise.

OASIS DREAM (2) rolled forward to the breeze from gate 6 last start and after doing some early work was able to receive cover. In for the fight he was only 2m from the winner in a blanket finish. This is his best gate for some time and taking advantage can look to capitalise.

ONLY IN ROME (11) is racing in great touch and after working across to find the pocket trail from gate 5 last start chased hard for the silver. A winner 2 starts back he can be working home strongly.

NIKALONG HENRY (1) has been in the money at 4 of his past 5 starts with the latest a tidy effort when hitting the line strongly and only beaten a neck. He will be ready to take the snipers shot.

SELECTIONS: JUST DEAL IT (3), OASIS DREAM (2), ONLY IN ROME (11), NIKALONG HENRY (1)
SUGGESTED BET: JUST DEAL IT (3) to win

RACE SEVEN

NEWPORT DREAMZ (2) was a winner here 5 starts back when having his 1st start back from a break and it was a strong effort when pressing on to the front from gate 5. Since that win he has been off the 2nd line on 3 occasions and with the return to the mile where he is a much stronger conveyance, he can look to dictate.

PACIFIC DRUMS (6) returned from a freshen in good style here 2 starts back and from gate 5 was able to take control over the mile and keep the tempo strong to claim win at the mile. Forced to do some work from gate 7 last start he was game in a half-head defeat. He will be in for the fight.

THATS HOW WEROLL (1) was angled to the pegs looking for the short-cuts off the 2nd line last start and hit the line in good order. He will get a perfect trip against the pegs and be ready to strike late.

IMA TOP TYCOON (12) has no favours from the extreme gate here but with a solid tempo can be looking to work home in the closing stages. On the back-up from Sat he just needs some luck in transit.

SELECTIONS: NEWPORT DREAMZ (2), PACIFIC DRUMS (6), THATS HOW WEROLL (1), IMA TOP TYCOON (12)
SUGGESTED BET: NEWPORT DREAMZ (2) to win

RACE EIGHT

MATTGREGOR (7)
will be tightened from his latest appearance where he was 2nd up from a break. Never disgraced through the Melb InterDom series he went for a break and his return run in the Newcastle mile was a superb effort after making an early error. Set alight early he will be looking to fight them off.

INVINCIBLE LOXTON (3) rolled to the breeze last start and was doing all the heavy lifting over this trip and only wilted in the closing stages. Luckless the start prior when unsuited and locked away against the pegs, he will have to roll the sleeves up again here but will be in for the fight.

WATCH PULP FICTION (6) made the most of circumstances here 2 starts back when able to find himself uncharacteristically in front and once there kept them chasing. Tough from the breeze last start look for him swooping home late.

SLICE OF HEAVEN (10) rolled to the breeze from gate 5 last start and was in for the fight when finishing 5m from the winner MACH ALERT. Marching his way through the grades this season he will be closing strongly.

SELECTIONS: MATTGREGOR (7), INVINCIBLE LOXTON (3), WATCH PULP FICTION (6), SLICE OF HEAVEN (10)
SUGGESTED BET: MATTGREGOR (7) to win
