RACE TWO

With two Band 5 events on the card, this one is by far the stronger and shapes as a tough contest with 4 last start winners to duke it out. OUR MADIBA (3) set the tempo when 1st up in Qld from gate 2 and after the lead coming at the expense of sub 27 opening panel, he was brave in holding on for a half-head 2nd. Finishing over the top of the here last start, he has the gate to fire the first shot and will be trying to stave off the challengers.

FRANCO HAMPTON (6) has been faultless since joining the Jack Butler stable and will be looking to remain undefeated since the switch. Pressing on to take control from gate 4 last start, he kept the power on to keep them chasing to equal his PB mile set just the start prior when circling from the 2nd line to take control. The gate stings but he is white-hot.

SHANNONSTHEMAN (1) eased to find a running line position here 2 starts back at his Qld debut over the 2138m and when presented to challenge, was too strong in scoring by 15m. Unable to sprint in a slick last quarter last start, he should get the perfect trip from this gate.

KENSINGTON BILL (5) worked away from the inside to find the 1x1 trail here last start over the mile and with the power on was able to arrive in time for a smart win. Luckless the start prior, look for him swooping.

SELECTIONS: OUR MADIBA (3), FRANCO HAMPTON (6), SHANNONSTHEMAN (1), KENSINGTON BILL (5)
SUGGESTED BET: OUR MADIBA (3) to win

RACE THREE

A more genuine tempo in the run should favour MAJOR CAM (6) in this contest after he has been too far back and the tempo not in his favour in recent starts. Cutting back to the pegs to save ground when only 6m from ROCK WITH SAM last start, sub 27 panels in front when he was chasing was his undoing at his previous 2 starts. This looks much more suitable.

IDEAL WORLD (2) takes the rise to the Open ranks here and comes into the battle with wins at the mile and 2138m in his past 2 starts. Too slick out in front last start in a powerful performance, he stretched ONE CHANGE here 4 runs back. With the gate advantage, he can turn up the furnace and see who can handle the heat.

ROCK WITH SAM (7) pressed ahead from gate 5 last start and was able to continue his march to take up the running. Once in front, a controlled middle half saw him have the kick to stave off the challengers. The gate is dampener, but he can still feature.

TENNYSON BROMAC (3) was back in the pack last start from gate 4 when settling in position before making some nice closing metres to grab 3rd behind ROCK WITH SAM. Not that far away of late, he can be handy enough to feature.

SELECTIONS: MAJOR CAM (6), IDEAL WORLD (2), ROCK WITH SAM (7), TENNYSON BROMAC (3)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE FOUR

The 2nd of the two Band 5 events where 4 mares bring a win in their last 3 starts. POWER SURGE (1) a winner from this gate over the middle-distance 3 runs back when taking control and keeping them chasing throughout, bringing it home in a smart 27.4 closer. Within 3m of the winner at her next outing, they were a bit slick up front last start. From this gate she will be clinging on.

ROCKITA (8) pressed forward to find the front from gate 7 in a mare’s qualifier 3 starts back and in control took them all the way- with the form franked with 4 individual winners emerging from that race. A close-up 3rd when working in the run at her next start, she will be ready to take her shot when the gaps present.

ROYAL AURORA (6) has been runner-up at both starts since arriving in Qld, and both when grabbed in the closing strides. It took the flying MISS RUBY SUNSHINE to gun him down and from the wide gate he can feature again.

TUAPEKA LIGHT (9) resumes from a spell and has the gate to dart down to the pegs. The inside looks a nice place to be in this contest and with a close half-head 2nd last start, she can be chiming in late.

SELECTIONS: POWER SURGE (1), ROCKITA (8), ROYAL AURORA (6), TUAPEKA LIGHT (9)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-6-8-9

RACE FIVE

A female driver invitation race to coincide with the Team Teal activities ending with the early scratching looking to open this race right up. SQUARE DEALER (6) was making his 1st Aus appearance on Tuesday when securing the ideal run behind the leader and then sprinting sharply to take the prize in quick time. Trialling in good order in readiness for his debut, he seems to have the upside to capitalise.

VIENNA BOY (9) was returning from a freshen last start when sent forward from the 2nd line and required to work hard in the run and wilting late after the tough trip. Setting the tempo here 3 starts back and only grabbed late when 3rd to WILL THE WIZARD, he can be pressing through early to challenge.

KOTARE ELITE (1) held the pocket trail last start in a mare’s qualifier and with the soft trip in behind the speed was only a half-neck away when making a closing play. With the options from the get-go she can feature again.

VANTORI HANOVER (8) resumes from a spell and was last seen when tackling a NSW Breeders heat at Newcastle. Beaten in red figures 2 starts back, she has the gate for the economical trip 1st up and can chime in.

SELECTIONS: SQUARE DEALER (6), VIENNA BOY (9), KOTARE ELITE (1), VANTORI HANOVER (8)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE SIX

MACHS MARETA (8)
will be relying on some factors in her favour but if they should work to her advantage, the closing shot can be a winning one. Back in the pack and looking to make a closing play when 5 from COOL AND CALCULATING last start, she will be tucked away and ready to take the snipers shot.

MISS GOLD FORTUNE (6) will be 2nd up since joining the Craig McKinnis barn and should appreciate the return to mares only grade after her 1st run in Qld here last week. Obliged to race tough first over, she faded in the closing stages as OUR MADIBA landed the winning blow. She can throw it down in this.

OURSOUTHERNSTAR (9) arrives from NSW to join the firing Jack Butler yard, arriving with 10 wins, the latest back in January at Newcastle. With the right trail through early, she can feature 1st up.

TOANUI SPIRIT (1) was sent to the post as fav last start at Redcliffe and from gate 4 was content to do it the tough in scoring a gritty win. This is a step up and her record on the big oval is not as strong but the gate will help her chances.

SELECTIONS: MACHS MARETA (8), MISS GOLD FORTUNE (6), OURSOUTHERNSTAR (9), TOANUI SPIRIT (1)
SUGGESTED BET: MACHS MARETA (8) to win

RACE SEVEN

LILAC FLASH (6)
settled back in the pack from gate 11 over this trip 2 runs back and with the perfect run in transit was able to descend upon them to claim the prize. Luckless here last week when buried in the run, he could have been much closer with a clearer passage when 4m from ROCK WITH SAM. Back to Veterans grade, he looks to slick.

CLINTAL DO (7) found suitable conditions from this same gate 2 starts back and had too much arsenal to call on in the closing stages when claiming a 2m victory. Charging home late here last start in the FFA to grab the silver behind ROCK WITH SAM, he will be winding up down the stretch again in this.

SIR JULIAN (1) broke a win drought extending back to July when charging home to score here on Tuesday from 3 back against the poles. A similar trip could be on the cards here and he can look to feature once again.

HANDSOME HERO (4) did it the tough way in a strongly run 2138m last time out and after the tough trip wilted in the closing stages. He might need to hang tough again but can be in for the fight.

SELECTIONS: LILAC FLASH (6), CLINTAL DO (7), SIR JULIAN (1), HANDSOME HERO (4)
SUGGESTED BET: LILAC FLASH (6) to win

RACE EIGHT

A wide open qualifier here made no easier by the 2138m trip they must negotiate to claim the victory. CAPTAIN COSMONAUT (2) has been beaten by wide gates at his past 2 starts where he has been forced to retreat early and then unable to get into the contest. He can look to fire the 1st shot here and if not over-cooking it in front he can see it out.

RANIERI (1) was beaten by gate 7 last start when retreating early to secure position before never getting a crack at them. Taken back from the five-hole the start prior, he was closing out nicely when 8m shy of the winner SOHO TSUNAMI. With the gate improvement, he can look to capitalise.

SLINGSHOT (6) fired off the arm here 2 starts back and once in control was able to take them all the way in claiming the prize.  Setting the tempo last start, he was grabbed late and despite the gate can be in the mix.

OUR FRIEND (8) will have the 2nd line options here which should allow him to find a handy position in transit. Taking them all the way at Marburg 2 starts back, gate 10 did not suit last time. He is a rough podium hope.

SELECTIONS: CAPTAIN COSMONAUT (2), RANIERI (1), SLINGSHOT (6), OUR FRIEND (8)
SUGGESTED BET: CAPTAIN COSMONAUT (2) to win

RACE NINE

This is another tricky qualifier with the tempo over the middle distance a key factor to the chances of a few of these at the middle-distance. Runner-up in both Qld starts to date, TWENTYEIGHTBLACK (8) found the front last start before releasing and then grabbing 2nd behind KENSINGTON BILL. With choices at the start, he can arrive in this line-up.

ASHARK (2) makes a Northern appearance for NSW based Melanie Elder and arrives in nice form this season, landing 4 wins in his past 7 starts. Finishing over the top of them in a slick mile at Newcastle 2 starts back, he was dominant in front there 4 back in a career PB 52.3 mile. With early hustle, he can throw it down here.

TIMELY SOVEREIGN (4) has been runner-up in both starts since arriving with Jonah Hutchinson, the latest from the pocket trail when within 2m of OUR MADIBA. Both Qld runs have been at the mile and he can feature up to the 2138m.

BOOMCHUCKALUCKA (5) takes his 1st look at the AP 2138m trip after all his 6 starts here at The Creek have all been at the mile. Runner-up to the ARTOFINFUSION last start in a qualifier, can he see out the trip.

SELECTIONS: TWENTYEIGHTBLACK (8), ASHARK (2), TIMELY SOVEREIGN (4), BOOMCHUCKALUCKA (5)
SUGGESTED BET: TWENTYEIGHTBLACK (8) to win

RACE TEN

MUSCULUS (4)
has been kept fresh since his last appearance when 4th over the mobile 2138 after being slowly away from gate 1. Working home soundly to grab the bronze when 5m from ALADDIN SANE 2 starts back when coming from the 20m tape, he can roll forward and look to cash-in.

MATATOKI (2) released the front last start over the 2647m and after the cosy trip in behind the speed was 4m from the winner when the judge called a halt. A tough winner in mid-week company after working to the breeze from the 30m tape, returning to the 2138m trip suits and with his great manners, he will be in for the fight.

MAJESTIC SIMON (9) has placed in all 3 starts since returning from a break, the latest when pressing on to the front in the Marathon here last week. Trying to fight them off, he had to settle for the bronze and the 40m over the middle trip here makes it tricky.

NORTHERN MUSCLE (8) should take good benefit from his run in the Marathon last week where he was 1st up from a spell. Saved for a closing run, he was strong to the line when 8m in arrears. He is in the mix again.

SELECTIONS: MUSCULUS (4), MATATOKI (2), MAJESTIC SIMON (9), NORTHERN MUSCLE (8)
SUGGESTED BET:
