RACE TWO

The first of 4 Goldstrike heats from the stand start where the visitor IT AINT ROYAL (6) might just have the right credentials to progress through to the Final. A winner at 2 of his past 3 starts at Tamworth where he has worked hard in the run from 2nd line barriers on each occasion, he looks to also handle the tapes and the trip. The wide lane might be to his advantage in the early stages.

IMA BIRUBI BOY (3) is the big query in this heat, lining up for the first time under race conditions at the tapes and his only public trial back in January of 2020. His recent form however puts him right in the mix with wins at 3 of his past 5 and placings in the other 2 outings. Too sharp in front last start at Redcliffe, if he steps, he can challenge.

GHOST GUM (2) was the winner of this Series last year and comes up with the good lane to go on the title defence. Stepping cleanly to claim the Warwick Show Final 2 starts back, he faded late last start after working to get to the front. His stand manners keep him in contention.

RISKY BUZINESS (1) looked a chance at AP on Friday where he had drawn to feature. 2 starts back from the 2nd line, he was strong when sent to the breeze and fighting hard for 3rd. He is in the mix here.

SELECTIONS: IT AINT ROYAL (6), IMA BIRUBI BOY (3), GHOST GUM (2), RISKY BUZINESS (1)
SUGGESTED BET: IT AINT ROYAL (6) to win

RACE THREE

The 2nd of the Goldstrike heats looks tough to line up with a pair of newly arrived Kiwis with no public outings just one horse with a win from the tapes. HESLUVABLE (1) has placed twice in 4 attempts here at the track and comes into this after striking trouble last start at Redcliffe. Placed once in 2 attempts at the strands, he can settle close enough to the action to be a contender.

QUICK STEP (5) takes her first race appearance from the tapes but prepared in nice style when, although not quick into stride, she was clean and maintained gait as she departed. Her run 2 starts back had merit when finding the line nicely behind JINGLES BROMAC and she has placed here at the track.

OUR FRIEND (9) has no favours from the 2nd line but does boast 2 important factors that none of his rivals have- a win from the tapes and a win at this track. Too slick in front over the AP mile last time out, he cannot be discounted.

ITS MR CLOONEY (6) arrives from the deep South of the Shaky Isles with 1 win and 4 minors in 14 outings. Last seen back in January, he has not tackled the tapes before but stays under watch.

SELECTIONS: HESLUVABLE (1), QUICK STEP (5), OUR FRIEND (9), ITS MR CLOONEY (6)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE FIVE

WOODLANDS WONDER (1) started from inside the 2nd line over the Redcliffe sprint trip 3 runs back and with the soft trip behind the speed had the arrows in the quiver to hit the bullseye at the finish. Closing strongly from back in the pack over the AP 2138m at his next appearance when within 2m of the winner, he makes his debut from the stand but can make it a successful one.

MAGICOL IDEAL (6) is a new arrival for evergreen trainer John Stariha who has 4 horses in this Series. This 6YO arrives a last start winner at Rangiora over the 2600m stand and has been in nice touch this season. He stays under a big watch.

KING OF TRUMPS (9) gives away plenty of experience to his rivals in this Series, with just 1 start next to his name. That was back in January in the South of NZ when scoring over the 2200m. He caught the eye in a recent stand start trial to prepare and has claims first up.

DESPONDENT (4) claimed victory over the 2138m at headquarters last start when the recipient of a tidy steer to arrive from inside the 2nd line. Placed twice in 2 outings at the track, stepping cleanly will be a huge plus to his chances.

SELECTIONS: WOODLANDS WONDER (1), MAGICOL IDEAL (6), KING OF TRUMPS (9), DESPONDENT (4)
SUGGESTED BET: WOODLANDS WONDER (1) to win

RACE SIX

HURRIKANE SPECIAL (1)
started from inside the 2nd line last time out and after securing the pocket trail lost all momentum and with it any chance when the leader hoisted the white flag at the 250m. With good speed off the arm, she can keep them wide here and out in front will take some catching.

RANCHO MAN (6) was fresh eased from gate 6 over the AP mile last time out before charging home when asked for the effort to grab the bronze, hitting the line in smart order. Fading after setting the speed the start prior, he will be tightened from his latest hit out and be probing for openings here.

ABERCROMBIE TAB (8) was returning from a freshen last start at Redcliffe when just peaking on his run. Grabbed in the last strides 2 starts back when beaten a head, he can be thereabouts again here.

DOLLARBILL (7) was sent forward from gate 4 over the AP 2138m 2 starts back and from the front was trying to fight them off when holding on for 3rd to be 5m from the winner. A three-time winner here, he is working back into form.

SELECTIONS: HURRIKANE SPECIAL (1), RANCHO MAN (6), ABERCROMBIE TAB (8), DOLLARBILL (7)
SUGGESTED BET: HURRIKANE SPECIAL (1) to win

RACE SEVEN

The last of the 4 Goldstrike Heats looks open and could be ripe for a new arrival to Qld. RAGNARR (9) joins the Narissa McMullen yard and brings form in some strong events in Victoria. Wide gates have hampered his chances at his past 4 starts and 5 runs back he met a strong field in a race won by the smart performer BOOTS ELECTRIC. With even luck, he can arrive a winner.

GOSLING IN FLIGHT (2) started from inside the 2nd line last time out where it just did not go to plan, and he never had a clear crack at them. That had followed successive wins after sweeping the most recent Marburg to Albion Series. Although this is his 1st outing from behind the strands, his Marburg record is superb with 4 wins and a 2nd in his 6 attempts and if safely away can throw it down.

ALE ALE KAI (8) has been in nice touch of late with a win and 2 minors in her past 3 starts and has shown good form here at the track previously with a top-3 in 5 of her 9 starts. Hitting the line strongly last start, she can feature again here.

GLENEAGLE WARRIOR (4) steps out from behind the tapes for the 1st time but has placed in 2 from 2 here at the track. Too strong for them last start despite a wide gate over the Redcliffe 2040m trip, he is in the mix.

SELECTIONS: RAGNARR (9), GOSLING IN FLIGHT (2), ALE ALE KAI (8), GLENEAGLE WARRIOR (4)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE EIGHT

MAFFIOSO GIRL (2)
has hit the board in all 3 starts here at the track, including a win when leading all the way. Gate 7 was her undoing last start when retreating over the AP mile and from back in the pack was always facing a task. She might need to hustle hard, but if getting across, she can take them all the way.

NEWMERELLA LADYKAY (3) turned around a long win drought when firing off the arm to take them all the way over the AP mile and run a new career PB in the process. Gunned down the start prior at Redcliffe after setting the tempo, she has been runner-up in 3 of her 4 starts on this track and can challenge.

AFTER DARN (7) was looking to maintain a perfect record since arriving in Qld when tackling the Redcliffe sprint trip last start. Game in defeat when a close 2nd, she had done a mountain of work in the run. With even luck she is in the mix again.

ALL GOOD WALLY (5) held the pocket trail from gate 1 last start and with the nice trip was able to make the closing shot a winner. Luckless the start prior from gate 6, the wide gate stings again but he can chime in.

SELECTIONS: MAFFIOSO GIRL (2), NEWMERELLA LADYKAY (3), AFTER DARN (7), ALL GOOD WALLY (5)
SUGGESTED BET: MAFFIOSO GIRL (2) to win
