Greyhound Australasia (GA) National Rules, as adopted by each jurisdiction, form an integral part of the conduct of greyhound racing and in achieving consistency in greyhound racing across Australian States and Territories and New Zealand.

GA has now concluded an internal process to rewrite the GA national rules (GAR), with its main purpose in commissioning this project to:

  • improve the structure of the GARs;
  • make the GARs easier to read for people in the greyhound racing industry;
  • simplify and/or modernise the language used in the rules where possible;
  • ensure key welfare and integrity obligations, currently adopted locally, are included in the national framework.

To assist in further developing the working draft, GA has asked each of its member jurisdictions to seek feedback, in two phases, from industry stakeholders, to assist in further developing the revised national rules.

The first phase involved confidential provision of the working draft of the proposed national rules to key stakeholders (Racing Queensland, Queensland Racing Integrity Commission, Queensland Breeders Owners Trainers Association, Queensland greyhound racing clubs) and this phase commenced on 22 February, 2021.

The second phase involves public distribution of the draft rules, thus providing all stakeholders with the opportunity to provide feedback and this phase commences today.

  • A working draft of the proposed national rules can be read here.
  • A summary table describing the key changes and aimed at assisting you to reference between obligations in the current, and proposed, national rules can be read here.
  • A copy of the current national rules issued by GA can be found here
  • A copy of the local Queensland greyhound racing rules, should reference be required, can be found here.

Feedback on the proposed national rules must be submitted to GA by completing and returning the feedback form. Submissions close at 5pm on 19 April, 2021 .
