Tomorrow's Brisbane Racing Club meeting at Doomben has been transferred to the Toowoomba Turf Club.

The decision to transfer the meeting was made following the determination that there is no possibility that the racing surface at Doomben will recover in time for racing on tomorrow following the deluge of rain which has occurred throughout this week, with 770mm of rain having fallen on the track in the past seven days.

The transfer to Toowoomba has resulted in minor adjustments to some race distances, as well as starting limits. They are:

  • Race 1 – was 1600m, is now 1625m (starting limit unaffected);
  • Race 2 – was 1110m, is now 1100m (starting limit unaffected);
  • Race 3 – was 1110m, is now 1100m (starting limit unaffected);
  • Race 4 – remains at 2000m (starting limit unaffected);
  • Race 5 – was 1600m, is now 1625m (starting limit reduced from 15 to 12);
  • Race 6 – was 1600m, is now 1625m (starting limit unaffected);
  • Race 7 – was 1110m, is now 1100m (starting limit reduced from 16 to 14);
  • Race 8 – was 1110m, is now 1100m (starting limit reduced from 16 to 14);
  • Race 9 – was 1350m, is now 1300m (starting limit reduced from 15 to 12); and
  • Race 10 – remains at 1200m (starting limit reduced from 16 to 14).

Importantly, trainers should note that horses’ places in the revised fields are subject to the original ballot order which was determined in accordance with the RQ Handicapping Policy.

Further, the Racing Australia website (following the adjustments to the fields) is unable to display the entry order of the emergencies, solely the fact that horses are emergencies.  The amended program below provides specific detail in this regard.

Trainers should note that in accordance with RQ protocol (and wagering service operator requirements), any scratchings made prior to the race meeting being transferred are unable to be reinstated.

There will also be no fees applicable for scratchings made at the meeting, irrespective of the time they were transacted.

The track at Toowoomba is currently rated as a Soft 7, with the likelihood of an improvement in its rating should there be drying weather over the next 24 hours.
