RACE TWO

IM LOKI (1)
was sent around the field in the early stages from a second line gate over this trip last start to take control. The pace was solid, but he was out of bullets a long way from home to make it consecutive starts beaten deep into the red. Back to the front line gives him the chance to atone.

I AM SPARTA (6) is given no favours from the outside paint as he looks to answer some of the questions that are hanging over how he has returned for his 3YO season after four unplaced runs. Making an error last start when trying to work into the race, he folded up the start prior over the 2138m. Can he bounce back?

ETERNAL GOLD (7) resumes from a spell after his last performance was a 3rd in December when just 5m from the winner at Melton. With some tidy trial performances to prepare, he will be probing.

ULAANBAATAR (5) does not get many favours from this gate, but she has been consistent in recent weeks with a minor in three of four starts since her last win. With even luck she can join in.

SELECTIONS: IM LOKI (1), I AM SPARTA (6), ETERNAL GOLD (7), ULAANBAATAR (5)
SUGGESTED BET: IM LOKI (1) to win

RACE THREE

Fitter following a return to kick-off his 3YO term last week SOHO CASABLANCA (5) will need to step up again from the tricky gate. Finding the pocket trail on his return, he was best of the chasers behind the smart SPEAK THE TRUTH. Negotiating the sticky gate, he can arrive.

MIDNIGHT SOMEWHERE (7) has faced either gate 5 or 6 in his five appearances this season, the latest when easing from the six-hole last week before hitting the line in nice style behind the stablemate SPEAK THE TRUTH. Fresh up in that performance, he will be probing.

BETTING ORIGIN (4) resumes from a spell after his last appearance back in October when taking them all the way over the AP mile in a PB rate. Not asked for much in a preparatory trial at Marburg, he is in the mix.

ZARAS A TREASURE (2) started off gate 1 last time and made an early error before resetting and chased behind CANT BLUFF YOU. Settling close to the action, she can be sharper.

SELECTIONS: SOHO CASABLANCA (5), MIDNIGHT SOMEWHERE (7), BETTING ORIGIN (4), ZARAS A TREASURE (2)
SUGGESTED BET: SOHO CASABLANCA (5) to win

RACE FOUR

Only beaten a neck when resuming from a spell after being hemmed away on the pegs from an inside second line gate, DANGERZONE (3) was electric second-up to put his opponents to the sword when leading throughout and ripping home for a 22m margin. He looks too classy again.

RINGOS A STAR (1) was beaten by the second line last start at Marburg when wide off the track trying to make ground against the tempo. Chasing home behind the flying SAGINAW here two starts back when returning from a freshen and a stable change, the gate helps his cause.

SO MUCH MORE (6) will take good benefit from his return to the track last start when using the passing lane to grab the silver behind SUMOMENTSOMEWHERE. The gate stings here second-up.

ROCKSLIDE (8) was buried in the run last start when tackling a qualifier and not finishing far from CAPTAIN NEMO. A tough 3rd two starts back, he is in the mix back to this grade.

SELECTIONS: DANGERZONE (3), RINGOS A STAR (1), SO MUCH MORE (6), ROCKSLIDE (8)
SUGGESTED BET: DANGERZONE (3) to win

RACE FIVE

Stepping out for his first 3YO appearance here last week SPEAK THE TRUTH (7) was clinical in claiming an all the way victory. Leading easily from gate 1, he was only reined up with 150m to travel and did it easily with an 8m margin. The gate makes it tricky but with added fitness, he can arrive.

MOTU AMETHYST (1) settled in the 1x1 trail from the second line here two starts back and with the good run throughout had the closing power to arrive. Chasing behind the smart ALTA REVELRY last start, the options from the gate appeal.

BAKER CREEK (5) will take benefit from her appearance here last week from the second line when first up in Qld off the back of seven weeks between runs. Despite the tricky gate she is a chance.

SHEZ ALL STYLE (2) was an Albion Park winner six starts back when scoring from gate 3. Starting no closer than gate 6 in the five runs since that win, the improved alley aids her chances.

SELECTIONS: SPEAK THE TRUTH (7), MOTU AMETHYST (1), BAKER CREEK (5), SHEZ ALL STYLE (2)
SUGGESTED BET: SPEAK THE TRUTH (7) to win

RACE SIX

After throwing away his chances at his first Qld appearance, SAGINAW (6) was then impressive here second-up after making what appeared a race ending error, only to regather and score in the closing bounds. Winning another two since that win, the successive quartet looks on the cards.

BE MY ROCK (8) made an error last start at Marburg and was banished to the trials for the indiscretion. Sent to the front from gate 5 in the trial, he earned the return ticket in impressive fashion in sharp time with impressive sectionals. With the right trip he can finish hard.

THE DARLING (7) was looking to remain undefeated in Qld when tackling a mare’s qualifier last start from gate 9. Wide off the track, she was only 2m from the winner. Needing a slice of luck from this alley, she will be probing.

BEAST MODE (1) started from gate 9 in a second division qualifier last start when unable to get warm over the closing stages. A winner here three starts back, the gate helps.

SELECTIONS: SAGINAW (6), BE MY ROCK (8), THE DARLING (7), BEAST MODE (1)
SUGGESTED BET: SAGINAW (6) to win
