Racing Queensland advises conditions for the 2019 Group 1 Brisbane Cup (520m).

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  • The Brisbane Cup will have a maximum of 8 heats.
  • Open to the best 64 greyhounds nominated. Maidens ineligible.
  • The Selection Panel will determine the Ballot Order (64 starting runners plus reserves) using the Order of Entry below.
  • The Order of Entry pertains to race performances between 440m and 600m only.
  • Group race and feature race performances within the Order of Entry pertain to prescribed events only as outlined in the Schedule of Events.
  • For the purpose of grading this series, the Million Dollar Chase Final will be considered the equivalent of a Group 1.
  • The Order of Entry has 8 levels. Within each level, the Class 1 Order of Entry for Graded Events (as per Racing Queensland Grading Procedures) may be used to approximate the Ballot Order.
  • At levels 4, 5, 6, and 7, greyhounds with more qualifying performances may be elevated above greyhounds with less qualifying performances in the Ballot Order.
  • All references to grade and class in the Order of Entry are relative to the Racing Queensland Grading Procedures.
  • The composition of the heats will be determined by the Field Selection Method below.
  • As per Local Rule 34A, a trainer must submit a statutory declaration in the form prescribed below to the Queensland Racing Integrity Commission before nominating greyhounds in Queensland.

DISCRETIONARY POWERS

  • If in the opinion of the Selection Panel the race form credentials of a greyhound overwhelmingly justifies a starting position in the heats, the Selection Panel may use discretionary powers to elevate a greyhound in the Ballot Order.
  • The Selection Panel is not bound to elevate any greyhounds.
  • The decisions of the Selection Panel, including discretionary decisions, as to the composition of the fields will be considered final.
