RACE TWO

The BOTRA Young Drivers Championships head to The Creek with this the 1st of 2 heats for the night. GINGER MICKY (6) started in red figures from gate 7 last start when eased off the gate, making a strong closing ply to be 2m from the winner. A tough winner the start prior, he looks too sharp for these.

IDEAL TIGER (7) is in good touch with 3 wins in his past 4 starts, including a win here over the 2138m 2 starts back when finishing best from a 2nd line gate to arrive. Too strong beating home subsequent winner SWORD AND SHIELD last start at Marburg, he can overcome the tough gate to challenge.

MAFFIOSO GIRL (2) took on a TrotRods event last start when taking a closing dive at the winner to get within a head of the prize. This is her 1st look at the big oval and with early speed is in the mix.

NOTORIOUS (1) will resume from a spell without the benefit of a preparatory trial. Down the line last start behind WITH THE BAND, he will have the options from the gate and has podium claims.

SELECTIONS: GINGER MICKY (6), IDEAL TIGER (7), MAFFIOSO GIRL (2), NOTORIOUS (1)
SUGGESTED BET: GINGER MICKY (6) to win

RACE THREE

SPEECH IS SILVER (10)
bounced back to winning form last start, taking out a qualifier over the 2138m. Settling in the running line from this gate, he was given plenty of time prior to being produced for the effort. Cruising on by to a strong victory, he is a classy and can add another win.

ALLELUIA (6) returns to Qld following an extended NSW campaign where he has finished down the line in recent outings, the latest behind MOTI GATECRASHER. With a 12-month winless streak, he lands his chance to look to re-capture some form and can feature here despite the tricky gate.

DATTITUDE (1) is in consistent form, with a quinella finish in 6 of his past 7 appearances. A beaten fav from gate 10 last start over this trip, he can fire out to an early lead and is a place player.

KURAHAUPO GAMBLER (8) went to the pegs form gate 10 last start when trying to thread a passage to the line and only 9m in arrears. A similar margin away 2 starts back, he will be probing for gaps again here.

SELECTIONS: SPEECH IS SILVER (10), ALLELUIA (6), DATTITUDE (1), KURAHAUPO GAMBLER (8)
SUGGESTED BET: Flexi 10 / 1-6-8

RACE FOUR

Heat 4 of the Young Drivers Series can see the smart STREET APPEAL (6) make amends for a somewhat flat effort last start in a TrotRods. Pressing ahead to find the front form gate 5, he was a spent force a long way from home. Runner-up over the mile here 2 starts back when tough in the breeze, he can bounce back with a bang.

COMMODORE JUJON (3) landed gate 1 last start but the good gate turned sour when the leader hoisted the white flag. Carted back through the pack, he lost all momentum as the lead pair headed by SPEECH IS SILVER forged clear. Only 2m away 2 starts back, he is knocking on the door.

SPEECHCRAFT (2) started from inside the 2nd line last start and was soon buried in the run, looking for late space when 3rd to LAUGHING EMOJI. Settling handy to the action, he can chime in.

GRIZZLY MONTANA (1) didn’t have the early speed to go with them in the fastest TrotRods heat last start and chased them home. Not suited from gate 7 the start prior, look for a sharper effort under these conditions.

SELECTIONS: STREET APPEAL (6), COMMODORE JUJON (3), SPEECHCRAFT (2), GRIZZLY MONTANA (1)
SUGGESTED BET: STREET APPEAL (6) to win

RACE FIVE

GOOD AS IT GETS (6)
will take further benefit from his latest appearance when 2nd up from a break. After 2 December outings when returning for his 3YO term, he was put away when 4m 5th from CUT FROM ROCK. 3-wide the 1st 600m last start as he was easing back to settle at the tail, he really attacked the line in the closing stages. He looks too strong here.

SIR SEMPER FIDELIS (1) doesn’t have the most inspiring numbers next to his name, but should take great benefit from an improved gate. Too far back his past few, his run here 4 starts back when 3 back on the poles from inside the 2nd line had merit and with the early options is in the mix.

BELLA BLONDIE (2) wasn’t suited at Marburg 2 starts back when locked away on the pegs and then here last start, the effort was sound despite the result not reflecting the effort. She can be sharper.

MAKINMEFEELGOOD (8) has just the solitary win to his name, but should secure a nice run in transit from this gate. Not too far away last start at Redcliffe, he will be probing for the openings.

SELECTIONS: GOOD AS IT GETS (6), SIR SEMPER FIDELIS (1), BELLA BLONDIE (2), MAKINMEFEELGOOD (8)
SUGGESTED BET: GOOD AS IT GETS (6) to win

RACE SIX

ANOTHER STATEMENT (7) has been to the track twice this campaign and placed on both occasions. Leading them up from gate 1 at his return, he was worried out of it by the smart filly TRUE STEPPER when beaten a head. Locked away last start when 3rd to BOMBADIER JUJON, he strikes a winnable race to overcome the tough gate.

OUR RIDGY DIDGE (4) was finding the line in nice style last start when 6m from the winner VENUS JUJON. Too wide when trying to work into the contest the start prior at Marburg, he can look to settle handy to the action here and with even luck can challenge.

ELZBOY (2) held the pocket trail from gate 1 last start when down the line behind HUGHIES SISTER. With 12 months since his last victory and just the lone win on this track, the place looks his option.

JOEY LINCOLN (9) has been to the track on 3 occasions, the latest when finding the line in good style to be 4m from the winner THE HUMMER. Mid-field to BETTERTHANDIAMONDS the start prior, he won’t be far away.

SELECTIONS: ANOTHER STATEMENT (7), OUR RIDGY DIDGE (4), ELZBOY (2), JOEY LINCOLN (9)
SUGGESTED BET: ANOTHER STATEMENT (7) to win

RACE SEVEN

A RAINBOW DIAMOND (3) was locked away back in the pack last start and didn’t have the clearest passage when down the line behind BOMBADIER JUJON. A Redcliffe winner the start prior when pressing ahead to take control and run a nice closing panel to claim the cash. From the gate she can take control.

MONTANA LAD (7) had an early look last start but with no lead was obliged to roll the sleeves for the tough stuff outside the leader. In for the fight, he was within 5m of the winner. That followed a tidy effort when mid-field behind GINGER MICKY. Despite the wide gate, this is with reach and he is a threat.

SOMEHOWSOMEWAY (5) made the most of an improved gate last start and using his early speed, took control to take them all the way. Back to a wider gate, he will be working at some stage and can place.

JILLIBY JACKPOT (6) was eased back from gate 7 last start to find position before making a run when securing a cart home. Finishing 6m from the winner, it followed a nice effort behind TRUE STEPPER. He can chime in here.

SELECTIONS: A RAINBOW DIAMOND (3), MONTANA LAD (7), SOMEHOWSOMEWAY (5), JILLIBY JACKPOT (6)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 3-5-6-7

RACE EIGHT

MIND OF MY OWN (4) was a Redcliffe winner 2 starts back when pressing on from the five-hole to take up the running. With plenty to spare on the line, she cruised home to a 10m victory. Finding the 1x1 trail from gate 9 last start, over the 2138m she popped up 3-wide at the 600m, giving the winner BOMBADIER JUJON the trail home. Back to the mile can see her capitalise.

CUT FROM ROCK (1) pressed ahead last start and forced her way to the front over the 2138m. That was the 1st time she had stepped out over the middle-distance and she was left fading the closing stages. With the options from this gate back to the mile, look for her to bounce back.

DESPONDENT (5) went to Marburg last start when forced to do it the tough way in the breeze over the 2200m. In for the fight, he was only 2m from the winner. With even luck he can feature in this.

NIFTY STUDLEIGH (3) looked to be under serious pressure last start in front over this trip but was able to dig in for the fight and hold 2nd to CHUMP CHOP. He can be around the money again here.

SELECTIONS: MIND OF MY OWN (4), CUT FROM ROCK (1), DESPONDENT (5), NIFTY STUDLEIGH (3)
SUGGESTED BET: MIND OF MY OWN (4) to win

RACE NINE

SHEGOTSASS (1) started twos-on last week and after being slowly into stride was obliged to do it the tough way outside the leader. Knuckling down for a stretch duel, she was in for the fight and with a beaten margin of a head looked to have the decision reversed in the stewards room. Unsuccessful with that challenge, she can bounce back.

AURORA (4) made the perfect start to her career here last week. Stepping cleanly straight to the front, she drifted up the stretch but was able to keep the race despite the protest. Taking benefit and experience from the run, she moves back 10m but can look to throw it down.

NO LOVE ABOUT IT (3) settled in the pocket trail last week and chased home when 9m in arrears of the lead pair. Fitter for the run after being 1st up last time, he can fill the trifecta numbers.

SELECTIONS: SHEGOTSASS (1), AURORA (4), NO LOVE ABOUT IT (3)
SUGGESTED BET: SHEGOTSASS (1) to win
