RACE TWO

OCEANSIDE (4) started from the 2nd line last start when settling at the rear of the field as GRETELS GIRL dictated out in front. Stuck in traffic for 300 of the last 400m, the race was over by the time he saw any clear space. His run 2 back at AP had good merit and he looks to get every chance here.

TALENT IN SPADES (8) showed good improvement last start when chasing hard to hold 2nd behind HURRIKANE SPECIAL when she was sent to the post a red figure fav. 4m from the winner in that event, the 2nd line dents her chances here, but with further experience can be in the fight.

TEACHERS PET (2) was returning from a break last start when taking on a Trot Rods scamper, running on well to hold 3rd behind PATCHWORK JET. Back to maiden company makes this a suitable assignment.

MAYWYNS HONEY (7) will take some benefit from her latest appearance when 1st up from a spell. With 3 weeks passing since that return run, she will get a cosy trip and can be probing for openings.

SELECTIONS: OCEANSIDE (4), TALENT IN SPADES (8), TEACHERS PET (2), MAYWYNS HONEY (7)
SUGGESTED BET: OCEANSIDE (4) to win

RACE THREE

ELZBOY (5)
might have the tough gate to negotiate, yet he looks to have found a suitable assignment in this line-up after his past 3 have been a few shades harder than this. Making the most of the pocket trail last start when runner-up to ANOTHER STATEMENT, he can end a long winless streak.

NIKALONG HENRY (8) should strip fitter following his latest outing when 1st up from a break. Settling in the running line, he wasn’t too far from them over this trip. He can look to press through in the early stages to find a handy position and strikes the right type of contest to breakthrough.

WESTERN SHOWGIRL (2) broke her maiden with a win over the 947m here 3 starts back. She found them too sharp last start again at the scamper and with the return to the 1780m from this gate is in the mix.

LA BELLE CHEVAL (1) started from gate 6 last time out when resuming from a spell. Eased from the gate, she was finding the line in nice style to be within 4m of the winner. With early options she can be thereabouts.

SELECTIONS: ELZBOY (5), NIKALONG HENRY (8), WESTERN SHOWGIRL (2), LA BELLE CHEVAL (1)
SUGGESTED BET: ELZBOY (5) to win

RACE FOUR

CHROMOZONE (5)
pressed ahead from gate 6 over this trip last start to park outside the leader. With a constant tempo throughout, she faded in the closing stages. Making a mess of things in the early stages from the 2nd line 2 starts back, she might just have the early hustle to head them off and from the front give plenty of cheek.

MAGHERA MAGGIE (2) is never far from the action, having placed in 6 of her past 7 starts, the latest when working home wide off the track to grab the bronze behind WHATELEY. Sent out as fav here 4 starts back from gate 3, she didn’t have the speed to get across and was game in the breeze when 2nd, she will give this a shake.

WECANONLYHOPE (1) found the pegs early prior to releasing last start when then chasing hard to be 4m from the winner in claiming the silver. With an easy trip against the pegs, she can feature at career start 250.

MISTER DECORUM (8) chased home from the 2nd line over the AP mile last start to grab the silver behind GOOD AS IT GETS. With the right early trail through them here, he is in the mix.

SELECTIONS: CHROMOZONE (5), MAGHERA MAGGIE (2), WECANONLYHOPE (1), MISTER DECORUM (8)
SUGGESTED BET: CHROMOZONE (5) to win

RACE FIVE

LA PISTOLA (6)
had a 2-start campaign in December, finishing within 2.5m of them 1st up and then proving too strong from the 2nd line to open his win account when 2nd up. Returning from gate 5 last start when settling back in the pack, it was a sound effort 1st up. The gate stings here, yet with the added fitness, this race isn’t out of reach.

ROBINMEGOOD (3) started from inside the 2nd line last start when angled away from the pegs early to find position and finishing mid-field. Placed his previous 3 in succession, he has good speed off the arm and with the improved gate can fire the 1st shot here and give them something to gun down.

CANNAN (7) is in nice touch, winning 3 of his past 5 starts, the latest when making the closing shot a winning one from the pocket trail. In danger of being shuffled away, he will be searching for gaps.

INCITER (2) hasn’t tasted success for some time, but he is never too far away from the placings. He found them too sharp last start and with the right trip, should find this a more suitable contest.

SELECTIONS: LA PISTOLA (6), ROBINMEGOOD (3), CANNAN (7), INCITER (2)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE SIX

NEWMERELLA LADYKAY (6) started from the 2nd line last start when eased to the pegs and hoping to find some luck and short-cuts along the way never saw open space until the race was gone, sprinting nicely when the gap did open. In the money at 12 of 15 on this surface, she will need some factors in her favour, but can swoop late to score.

MAJOR LUCKY (5) took on a Trot Rods scamper 2 starts back and kept giving when 2m in arrears of the winner. Back to the AP mile last start he was wide the last lap when best of the chasing pack behind the big winner MISTER DIAMOND. The gate stings, but this is the right type of contest.

MONTEREY JACK (3) wasn’t suited from gate 7 last start when retreating early over the mile at The Creek. His previous 2 outings here were from the 2nd line and returning to the front he can feature.

RITHCIE BEE (1) made the most of conditions last start to find the front from gate 3 over this trip and once in control was able to fight them off to score an easy 7m victory. The gate helps his chances.

SELECTIONS: NEWMERELLA LADYKAY (6), MAJOR LUCKY (5), MONTEREY JACK (3), RITHCIE BEE (1)
SUGGESTED BET: NEWMERELLA LADYKAY (6) to win

RACE SEVEN

SHOWEM SIMON (4)
will be further tightened from his latest start when 2nd up here in Qld this campaign. Snagged back from gate 7 over the AP mile when 1st up, he pressed forward from gate 3 over the 2040m last start and was game in the breeze when beaten a half-neck. Back to the sprint trip is a plus and he can capitalise.

SWORD AND SHIELD (6) secured the pocket trail from inside the 2nd line last start, using the passing lane to sprint hard and claim the narrow victory over SHOWEM SIMON. Runner-up the start prior at Marburg when working hard in the breeze, he faces the tough gate here, but can still challenge.

ARBIT MAJOR (5) was sent to the post as fav last start from inside the 2nd line when using the passing lane to be 6m in arrears of the winner. In the money his previous 6 in succession, he can chime in again.

JOVIAL JULIE (7) will need a slice of luck from this gate as she looks in danger of being buried in the run. Doing it the tough way last start when 3rd to SUKI DAYO, she will be probing for openings/

SELECTIONS: SHOWEM SIMON (4), SWORD AND SHIELD (6), ARBIT MAJOR (5), JOVIAL JULIE (7)
SUGGESTED BET: SHOWEM SIMON (4) to win

RACE EIGHT

ARK ME (2) showed the speed to lead from gate 3 over this trip last start. With some pressure, the speed was released and with the perfect trip in the trail then had too many bullets to fire in the stretch, claiming a 4m victory in nice style. Not suited the start prior in the breeze, she looks tough to stop again.

CONDAFEW (6) only has the 1 win in 35 attempts here at the triangle, yet he has drawn gate 4 or wider in 28 of those 35 outings. Sent to the pegs on Sat night, he was the best of the chasers behind SAM IS PERFECTION. He will be back in the pack again here, but look for him working home strongly.

CAMROLLER (1) settled in the running line from a 2nd line gate last start and couldn’t really get into the contest behind THE MONEY BALL. Finding the line nicely here 2 starts back, the gate is a big plus.

MACHIN OUT (8) had been racing well at this track with a win and 2 minors in 4 starts prior to his latest start when down the line behind STREET APPEAL. With the right early trail, he can feature here.

SELECTIONS: ARK ME (2), CONDAFEW (6), CAMROLLER (1), MACHIN OUT (8)
SUGGESTED BET: ARK ME (2) to win

RACE NINE

COLOMBIAN GOLD (3) speared out from gate 5 over the AP mile last start in a strong, mares only contest. Controlling the opening half, the pressure was dialled up through the 3rd panel and she fought hard to be 5m in arrears of the winner. Her last start here over this trip she took them all the way and she can look for the repeat.

MAKE MINE JOE (1) started from inside the 2nd line last start and was soon locked away over the sprint trip. Trying to reel in the leader that bolted at the top of the stretch, he chased hard to grab the bronze. Not suited from gate 5 the start prior, he can get an easy trip here to make a late play.

MAJOR SCORE (2) found SPEECH IS SILVER far too smart last start when down the line over the AP 2138m trip. Placed his previous 5 in succession here on the triangle, he is a place player once again.

SIR JULIAN (4) worked home in good order here 2 starts back to grab the silver behind SO KOOL MASTER. He didn’t really go on with it last start, but forgiving that effort, he can bounce back here.

SELECTIONS: COLOMBIAN GOLD (3), MAKE MINE JOE (1), MAJOR SCORE (2), SIR JULIAN (4)
SUGGESTED BET: COLOMBIAN GOLD (3) to win
