RACE TWO

TORQUE TO THE MAX (3) returns to the Sunshine State with trainer driver Jonah Hutchinson also back from an NSW sojourn. Finishing mid-field last start from gate 1 at Menangle, she has been around the money with a top-3 in 6 of her past 9. A winner 5 starts back, she looks to find suitable conditions here.

PATCHWORK JET (6) did his share of early work last start until securing the 1x1 trail before fading to be down the line as a beaten fav. Working home strongly the tart prior after retreating in the early stages from this same gate, he claimed a TrotRods win 3 starts back. He can overcome the gate.

IFYOUBELIEVE (8) was back on the board with a placing last start when sent forward to the breeze to do it tough from gate 6. Best of the rest behind the tearaway quinella, he can chime into the action.

ELZBOY (7) has been runner-up at his past 2 appearances, the latest despite striking trouble in the run that proved costly. He will be needing a slice of luck from this gate, but can be probing.

SELECTIONS: TORQUE TO THE MAX (3), PATCHWORK JET (6), IFYOUBELIEVE (8), ELZBOY (7)
SUGGESTED BET: TORQUE TO THE MAX (3) to win

RACE THREE

SOMEBEACHSOMEGIFT (1)
will take further benefit following his latest start when 2nd up from a long break. Leading them up over the AP mile when 1st up, the condition faltered when wilting in the closing stages. Sent forward from gate 4 last start over he 2040m, it wasn’t the smoothest run. Back to the sprint trip from the ace, he can look for the breakthrough.

IMA REGAL JET (5) set the tempo from gate 1 over this trip last start when grabbed in the closing strides and holding on to share 2nd placing. Mid-field the start prior, he closed strongly here 3 starts back when 8m in arrears. The wide gate stings, but with even luck in transit, can look to challenge.

BARBOO (3) has been in the money at 3 of his past 4 starts, the latest a game effort when doing his share of work wide out and finishing a pimple short of the prize. Settling handy, he can feature here.

WHATA CHALLENGE (6) started from gate 1 last start when taking the trail and using the passing lane to be 3m shy of the winner. A tidy winner here 4 starts back, he won’t be too far away.

SELECTIONS: SOMEBEACHSOMEGIFT (1), IMA REGAL JET (5), BARBOO (3), WHATA CHALLENGE (6)
SUGGESTED BET: SOMEBEACHSOMEGIFT (1) to win

RACE FOUR

A great contest coming up here with 2 in-form types headlining the bill. WITH THE BAND (6) is a winner of 7 from 9 since joining the Donny Smith barn and is 2 from 2 here on the triangle. Sent to the front last start from gate 5, she was never in danger over the 1780m. That followed a sizzling win in the TrotRods Finale and despite conceding the gate advantage, can overcome the impediment.

GLENEAGLE WARRIOR (2) has won 3 of his past 4 starts, the past 2 since joining forces with the Vicki Rasmussen stable. Powering home to a huge 37m victory here when 1st up after the switch, he lay it down in the breeze in slick time. Franking that with victory in the Triad Consolation when leading all the way, he will be fighting hard.

LIVING GRAND (1) had to do it the hard way last start when sent to the breeze and forced to grind away when 7m in arrears of WITH THE BAND. With an easier run in transit, he can hold a place.

BURMACH (8) hasn’t been too far away of late, with placings at his past 6 in succession, 5 of those here at the Peninsula. Grabbed late after setting the tempo last start, he can chime in again.

SELECTIONS: WITH THE BAND (6), GLENEAGLE WARRIOR (2), LIVING GRAND (1), BURMACH (8)
SUGGESTED BET: WITH THE BAND (6) to win

RACE FIVE

This race looks a tricky little contest to close the quaddie. HESLUVABLE (5) was left exposed for the 1st 700m here last start prior to settling in the 1x1 trail. Left flat when the power went on, he faded out. Forgiving that run, his previous few were tidy, including a 3m 3rd to SCHEU CREEK 3 starts back. He is worth a ticket.

DUKE (1) is still looking to open his Aus account after going under as the fav at 3 of his past 5 starts. Easing into the running line last start, he was left chasing when the speed went on. Gunned down in front here 2 starts back from this gate, he gets every chance to get a win on the ledger.

INCITER (7) should be able to get the economical trip from this gate. Pressing on to find the front last start, he was in for the fight when 4m from the winner BIG IN AMERICA. He will be probing for gaps.

READILY (8) was stuck looking for position last start when starting from gate 5 and was forced to restrain. Only 5m away here 3 starts back, he can be taking inside runs to chime in.

SELECTIONS: HESLUVABLE (5), DUKE (1), INCITER (7), READILY (8)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-5-7-8

RACE SIX

LETTERKENNY BOY (8) eased from gate 6 here last week over the 2040m to settle near the rear of the pack. With a trial into the contest, he was able to stick wide and power home over the top to claim a 3m victory. With 3 wins and 3 minors in 6 visits to the triangle, he can put the head down to power home.

IFOUNDTHEBEACH (2) held the pocket trail from inside the 2nd line here 2 starts back and with the easy trip made the last shot a winner over the 2040m. Fav in an open contest last start when midfield, he didn’t go on with it in the closing stages. Settling handy, he can make a play.

MISTER BLACKJACK (3) has been campaigning at Albion Park in recent starts and should appreciate the return to his home deck. Striking trouble in the run last start, his run 3 back when beaten a neck was a nice effort and he has claims.

COURAGEOUS LEO (1) couldn’t go on with it last start when wide off the track and should appreciate finding the inside lane here. Grabbing the bronze 2 starts back behind ROCKNROLL CLASSIC, he can feature.

SELECTIONS: LETTERKENNY BOY (8), IFOUNDTHEBEACH (2), MISTER BLACKJACK (3), COURAGEOUS LEO (1)
SUGGESTED BET: LETTERKENNY BOY (8) to win

RACE SEVEN

OUR RIDGY DIDGE (8)
started from gate 5 in a Gold Pot heat last start where he was unable to find early position and was forced to retreat to get a spot in the running line. Caught between runners at the 400m and breaking gate, he never saw space in the stretch. With even luck, this is within reach.

ALL GOOD WALLY (5) has been in nice touch with 3 wins in his past 5 outings and will line up here looking for a hat-trick of victories. Settling in the running line from the 2nd line last start he arrived on the line to score by a whisker, with a further 18m back to 3rd. The gate stings, but he did win from this same alley 2 starts back.

PRETTYCOMPACT (1) went to the pegs last start looking for short-cuts when down the line behind MUCHO GUAPA. Finding the line nicely 2 starts back, she has the early options here to feature.

STORM GILBERT (4) made an error last start over the AP mile that saw him banished to the trials. Earning the return with 2 handy hit-outs, at his best, he is in the mix and can atone here.

SELECTIONS: OUR RIDGY DIDGE (8), ALL GOOD WALLY (5), PRETTYCOMPACT (1), STORM GILBERT (4)
SUGGESTED BET: OUR RIDGY DIDGE (8) to win

RACE EIGHT

After starting fav last outing in the Triad Consolation, WHICH HUNT (1) looks to get into this contest nicely. Settling in the 1x1 from gate 10, she loomed up but was nabbed in the closing strides by a hard-finishing A RAINBOW DIAMOND. With early speed, she looks mighty hard to stop here.

MONTEREY JACK (7) was caught looking for position last start, eventually slotting into the running line. Closing out nicely when 4m in arrears of the in-form NEWMERELLA LADYKAY, it had followed a tidy effort from gate 7 over the AP mile. With the easy trip, he can look to take the closing shot.

ALLSTAR SEA (2) worked forward early to secure position and after some early work settled in the 1x1 over the sprint trip. Holding on to claim the bronze, a win when conditions suit isn’t far away.

ALI DOWNUNDER (8) was just too far back over the 2138m 2 starts back after snagging back from gate 7 to find position and then couldn’t get into it. Beaten by gate 6 last start, with the right trip, he can feature.

SELECTIONS: WHICH HUNT (1), MONTEREY JACK (7), ALLSTAR SEA (2), ALI DOWNUNDER (8)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1 / 2-7-8

RACE NINE

IM SANDY BAY (6) returns from NSW where here manners again let her down in the 3 starts while interstate. Forced to do plenty of work last start at Penrith when sent wide from the 2nd line, she faded under the workload. Fitter after 3 runs back from a spell, she can return in style against this line-up.

CHANG (8) will take some benefit from his latest outing when returning from a spell. Fading in the closing stages when down the line behind WHATELEY when 1st up, if he can bring the type of run that saw him 6m in arrears of the winner 2 starts back, that might just be enough in this contest.

TOTAL DELIRIUM (3) set the tempo out in front last start, running even sections over the sprint trip and just unable to see it out. Not suited the start prior, if he can pinch a panel, he can go close.

WILLSINTOWN (7) had an early look before finding the space to drop into the trail last start, but couldn’t go with them in the closing stages. With an easy trip from the get-go, he can chime in here.

SELECTIONS: IM SANDY BAY (6), CHANG (8), TOTAL DELIRIUM (3), WILLSINTOWN (7)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE TEN

HURRIKANE SPECIAL (5) has started to put it all together and can look to take another step here. With a nice effort out in front when grabbed in the closing stages 3 starts back, she then took them all the way to break the maiden tag. Backing it up last start with victory, she can deliver a threepeat.

PEGGY STARDUST (6) started deep into the sauce last start from gate 3 over the sprint trip, sent to the front and set a steady tempo. Despite the closing panel of 31.6, her race wsa done, holding on for the bronze. IN the money at 6 of her past 7, the gate stings, but she won’t be far away again.

ITMIGHTBEYOU (2) showed her usual early speed last start to find the front and with a 2nd panel breather was able to fight them off and break the maiden tag. With some winning confidence, she can be in the fight.

MANOFLISA (4) hasn’t been too far away of late with placings in 3 of his past 4 starts. Chasing home for the silver behind HURRIKANE SPECIAL last start, he can be thereabouts once more.

SELECTIONS: HURRIKANE SPECIAL (5), PEGGY STARDUST (6), ITMIGHTBEYOU (2), MANOFLISA (4)
SUGGESTED BET: HURRIKANE SPECIAL (5) to win
