It’s amazing to think it’s almost 12 months since APG ran last year’s APG National Mixed Sale that attracted so much attention and excitement for this sport we all love.

The exceptional news is that the 2021 version promises to be even more remarkable thanks in part to APG and Racing Queensland.

News came earlier this year that Albion Park's APG Brisbane Sales Race would be lifted to $150,000 and in doing so will become the third richest harness race in Queensland.

Add to that the amazing QBRED scheme that’s delivering over $3 million in additional returns for breeders and owners of harness horses bred and racing in Queensland.

With a lucrative range of exclusive stakes and bonuses on offer, only QBRED registered horses race for:

 • $12,000 QBRED ‘first win’ bonus;
 • $7,500 QBRED ‘second win’ bonus; and
 • $1,000 QBRED cash bonuses (on all races <$4,500).

Racing Queensland has also announced the introduction of Transitional QBRED eligibility - a new eligibility type for the 2021 QBRED racing season - this complements the existing scheme and replaces what is currently International QBRED.

The scheme will allow a mare once in her lifetime to foal a QBRED-eligible horse in Queensland, despite being inseminated interstate or overseas by a stallion not registered with QRIC (i.e. not standing in Queensland).

The inception of ‘Transitional QBRED’ follows feedback from breeders who have expressed an interest in bringing mares to Queensland to qualify for the many benefits of the QBRED scheme.

Breeders had previously outlined difficulties with relocating mares that were already in foal, and had concerns that it could result in the resultant foal not being eligible for QBRED and other breeding schemes.

The conditions of this enhancement will include that a 50% or greater (in aggregate) ownership interest in the resultant progeny must be held by Queensland residents on the day of its foaling, and that the mare cannot have previously foaled a QBRED-eligible horse.

We’ve already accepted over 100 quality entries from all over Australia, including a half-sister of the “richest standardbred bred in Southern Hemisphere” and a Queensland race mare that won north of $700,000 on the track.

The above goes in part to explaining the unprecedented levels of interest from Queenslanders looking at investing in lots out of APG's 2021 National Mixed Sale.

Breeders and owners looking to be a part of this exciting event, and who are looking to tap into the best and most active buyers database in the sport, should take up the Early Bird Entry Special of just $275, which runs up until May 14.

APG offers commission fixed at 8% + GST on sold lots and no commissions on passed-in entries.

APG’s ground-breaking initiative for any owners who nominate more than two weanlings for the mixed sale - APG will refund 100% of the cost for additional entry fees after the first two entries.

No one takes the selling of broodmares, racehorses, yearlings, weanlings and stallions more seriously than the team at APG.

Consignors are supported by this sale that provides the safest and most cost-effective and successful way to trade some of the very best standardbred horses in the country and can expect to be rewarded like never before.
