Zoustyle took another step towards confirming his star status with a professional win in the QTIS three-year-old Plate over 1050m at Doomben on Saturday.

The gelding’s return to the track was much anticipated after he set tongues wagging with a dominant first preparation, winning by five-and-a-half lengths and three-lengths respectively in his first two trips to the track

Zoustyle flew the lids and went to the lead shortly after the start, before responding in the straight under the urges of Jockey Brad Stewart, who brought up a treble on the day with the two-length victory.

Trainer Tony Gollan said the gelding had showed him what he wanted to see first up and was looking forward to further improvement.

“I’m probably most pleased with how he came home in 33.13 and was still strong through the line,” he said.

“I wasn’t surprised to see him beat them out because that’s all he’s ever done, it’s just come naturally.”

Gollan said the horse entered his second prep in even better condition than his first.

“He’s a bit taller and heavier since we last had him at the track,” he said.

“He’s a beautiful long striding horse and it’s pretty rare to see that kind of horse settle into his stride seamlessly.”

The gelding shapes as a huge player in the TAB Queensland Summer Racing Carnival, with Gollan now eyeing a run at 1200m.

“We’ll come back in two weeks for The Winning Rupert over 1200m, which I think he will handle well on today’s performance,” Gollan said.

Hoop Brad Stewart said the gelding was a dream to ride.

“I have to remind myself he’s only at his third race start, He gets into his stride so smoothly and once I asked him for an effort he responded,” he said.
