Queensland’s slot holder in the TAB Phoenix will be granted the opportunity to select their own box in the all-new $1.1 million feature.
Earlier today, the Melbourne Greyhound Racing Association announced that dispensation had been approved for the unique box draw, with two authorised representatives from each slot holder tasked with selecting the box they deem most suitable for their greyhound.
“The TAB Phoenix presents an opportunity for the Club to approach things differently to what our audience is accustomed to seeing from us," MGRA CEO Ashley Baker said.
"We believe handing the reins over to the slot holders will further add to the excitement surrounding the lead up to The Phoenix.
"Whilst there’s no doubt the final eight greyhounds will bring with them a Group 1 standard of racing manners, there’s also the added bonus that connections can potentially place their greyhound in a box more suitable to their individual racing pattern, ensuring The Phoenix remains a safe and competitive event."
Having secured a slot, Racing Queensland will soon announce the details that will guarantee Sunshine State representation in the Final at The Meadows on December 18.
