The National Jockeys' Trust (NJT) is a public charitable trust established in 2004 for the purpose of providing finanacial support and other benefits for former jockeys (including apprentice jockeys) and their families, especially where such needs arise through serious injury, illness or death of a jockey.

In the event of a race fall where a rider is seriously injured, the National Jockeys Trust are there immediatelyl to help. The wheels are set in motion to ensure the needs of the rider, and their loved ones are taken care of, to remove any worries they may have - this could be in the form of travel, accommodation, or assistance with immediate financial difficulties.Insurance benefits have improved significantly since 2009. however there are jockeys currently riding, and those that have suffered career ending injuries, who seem to slip through the cracks when it comes to WorkCover and other insurance schemes and end up in truly necessitous circumstances.
