Race 1: XXXX Gold QTIS 2YO Handicap - 1200 metres
1st LEGAL PROCEDURE 2nd POWER ON HARRY 3rd ME MYSELF AND I 4th - CHARSON'S GIFT

Stewards considered an objection lodged by Jockey S. McGovern, the rider of ME MYSELF AND I which finished 3rd, against LEGAL PROCEDURE (Jockey M. Hellyer) being declared 1st, alleging interference over the final 200 metres. After taking evidence from the parties involved, viewing the official patrol videos and acting on their own observations, stewards established that LEGAL PROCEDURE laid in initially and crowded ME MYSELF AND I, which had shifted out onto LEGAL PROCEDURE. LEGAL PROCEDURE again laid in slightly shortly after. Stewards were of the opinion that ME MYSELF AND I was not positioned in the run inside of LEGAL PROCEDURE and Jockey McGovern had been able to ride his mount along. Whilst sufficient grounds existed to lodge the objection, given the margin of a length and half between the two runners at the finish, stewards did not believe that any interference suffered by ME MYSELF AND I warranted an amendment to the placings. Accordingly, the protest was dismissed and correct weight declared on the judge's placings. Jockey Hellyer was reprimanded for failing to use sufficient effort to keep his mount straight.

INTRUDING - Raced wide without cover.

DOTHERIGHTHING - Raced wide throughout. When questioned regarding its performance, the rider stated that the gelding was disappointing. Trainer J. McConachy confirmed that the blinkers will be removed for its next race start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding was displaying a slightly slower recovery rate. A small amount of blood was observed in the back of the horse's throat. Stewards will follow up on that matter.
