PEGUNNY KID - Began awkwardly and made contact with DUDOOMP.

KING MAX - Shifted out at the start and made contact with THE GIRLS IN PARIS.

THE GIRLS IN PARIS - When questioned regarding the tactics adopted on the filly, trainer J. Rundle explained that the instructions given today were the same as at its most recent starts, that is to place the horse under pressure for first 200 metres and attempt to go forward and obtain cover. Apprentice N. Summers confirmed that those were her instructions; however in an attempt to comply, her mount commenced to over-race and refused to settle. She added that she was mindful that when restrained, the horse raced ungenerously and had not anticipated leading by the margin in which she did.

LEGAL PROCEDURE - Began awkwardly. When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, Jockey A. Coome stated that his mount had been disappointing and was obliged to race further back in the field than expected, and he was surprised by the tempo of today's race. He said that the gelding failed to travel well in the early and middle stages, but had responded somewhat in the straight. He was of the opinion that this may have been due to it being second-up today.

Race 7: Rockhampton Prestige VW Golf AllTrack BM 55 Handicap - 1600 metres
1st- TREMONT 2nd- CHANGING NOTES 3rd- BILO BAR 4th - ROCKCHESTA

SOUTHERN ALBATROSS - Late scratching on veterinary advice, at 7.55 a.m.

Prior to the declaration of correct weight Jockey A. Coome, the rider of CHANGING NOTES, viewed the official video films, and after doing so lodged an objection against TREMONT (Apprentice Q. Krogh) being declared the winner in that Apprentice Krogh had used his whip excessively prior to the 100 metres. After taking evidence from the parties, stewards established that Jockey A. Coome had used his whip on one more occasion than is permitted by the rule and that Apprentice Q. Krogh had used his whip on 4 more occasions than is permitted by the rule. Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that the use of the whip in excess of what is permitted had affected the placings, given the margin of a long neck. Therefore, the protest was dismissed and the placings ordered to stand. Jockey A. Coome was reprimanded and Apprentice Q. Krogh was fined $200 under A.R. 137A for use of the whip more than permissible. In assessing penalties stewards took into account the unblemished record of both riders.

FUKU RIU - After arriving behind the barriers Jockey C. McIver was dislodged from his mount. Jockey McIver was examined by the Ambulance Officers and cleared to fulfil his engagement. Made contact with another runner at the start. Raced wide with cover.

TREMONT - Made contact with another runner at the start.

GRAND HOTEL - Raced wide without cover throughout.

BILO BAR - When questioned regarding the gelding racing back in the field, Jockey N. Day said that at its previous start, when racing in a forward position, his mount had a tendency to over-race, however with the addition of the cross-over nose band today, the fast pace of runners to the inside and from a wide barrier he had no option other than to obtain a position towards the rear of the field, where BILO BAR over-raced for a short distance from the 1000 metres to the 800 metres.

ROCKCHESTA - Leaving the 500 metres was unable to obtain clear running and made contact with CHARGING NOTES on a number of occasions until near the 300 metres.
