Race Reports

 

Race 1 – ASSET BODY CORPORATE BRIBIE ISLAND MAIDEN – 395M

 

TAHBILK and IRISH RIPPLE collided at the start.  STEAK SANDWHICH was best to begin.  BLUE MIRACLE was slow to begin.  Shortly after the start, TAHBILK and TAX COLLECTOR collided, TAX COLLECTOR sustained an injury and took no further competitive part in the event.  On entering the 1st turn, ROAD SIDE ASSIST and BLUE MIRACLE collided.  Through the turn into the back straight, TAHBILK and ROAD SIDE ASSIST collided, ROAD SIDE ASSIST then shifted out and collided with BLUE MIRACLE, which was severely checked.  On entering the back straight, RISING BEYOND checked out across heels.  Out of the back straight into the turn, STEAK SANDWHICH was tightened for room and checked.  On entering the front straight, RISING BEYOND and TAHBILK collided. 

 

The greyhound BLUE MIRACLE underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

 

The greyhound TAX COLLECTOR underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have sustained an injury to the off hind back muscle and was stood down for a period of 28 days.

 

Race 2 – MARBURG HOTEL MAIDEN FINAL – 395M

 

GENIE’S GIRL began awkwardly.  KENNY SAID WAIT and ONE FOR MICK collided at the start.  POLLY’S GIFT and WHO NOSE SIZE were best to begin.  On entering the 1st turn, PAINTED PICTURE and WHO NOSE SIZE collided, both runners were checked.  Through the turn into the back straight, PAINTED PICTURE contacted heels and was hampered. 

 

Race 3 – EXPAT LODGE BOARDING KENNELS NOVICE – 395M

NOOREE DESSA, SWIFT NIMROD and COSMO CYNDIE all collided, SWIFT NIMROD was checked.

SWIFT NIMROD, SENOR’S HEIR, THAT HOUDINI and COSMO CYNDIE all collided at the start, SENOR’S HEIR and THAT HOUDINI were both checked.  Approaching the 1st turn, NOOREE DESSA was tightened for room and checked.  On entering the 1st turn, COSMO CYNDIE and ONE DOLLAR collided, both runners were checked.  Through the turn into the back straight, ONE DOLLAR was tightened for room and hampered.  Out of the back straight into the turn, THAT HOUDINI and COSMO CYNDIE were both tightened for room and hampered.  Through the turn into the front straight, SWIFT NIMROD and THAT HOUDINI bumped. 

 

Races 4 – 10

Prior to the running of race 4, local electrical storms delayed the preview and subsequently the event. After delaying race 4 (7:37pm) back three time slots to 8:43pm, local lightning storms persisted. Stewards consulted with the race day vet, club staff and abandoned the remainder of the meeting.
