Ipswich Tuesday 22/1/19 – Trainer J. Corrigan reported that DIXIE LOUISE was found lame in the nearside hip in the days after the event.


Race Reports

 

Race 1: BOX 1 PHOTOGRAPHY, Novice – 520m

 

At the start SHIAN DIVA was tightened for room and severely checked. Shortly after the start LADY FRANKIE and MIDNIGHT LIAISON were bumped by another runner and hampered. In the front straight FAB TO FLY bumped with a number of runners and was hampered. Approaching the turn out of the front straight, SELECT TRICK, LADY FRANKIE and FAB TO FLY were tightened for room and checked to varying degrees. Shortly after, FAB TO FLY became momentarily unbalanced, shifted inwards and collided heavily with the running rail, losing considerable ground as a consequence. BAD BENNY and SHIAN DIVA raced wide rounding the turn out of the front straight. Rounding the turn into the back straight, SHIAN DIVA checked off heels. Rounding the turn out of the back straight LADY FRANKIE was tightened for room and checked. SELECT TRICK raced wide for a majority of the event.

 

FAB TO FLY underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have sustained an injury to the nearside shoulder. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.

 

When questioned on the performance of SELECT TRICK, trainer J. Corrigan stated that the greyhound required an early lead to be competitive in tonight’s event however, after receiving early interference, its chances in the event were diminished. He further stated that the greyhound will be dropping back in distance for its future engagements. SELECT TRICK underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no significant abnormalities were found.

 

Race 2: ASSET BODY CORPORATE BRIBIE ISLAND, MA5 – 520m

 

MYONA MORPHEUS was marginally slow to begin. Shortly after the start, HARA’S HOOK, CALYPSO BAY and AND YOU ARE were tightened for room with HARA’S HOOK and AND YOU ARE being checked, and CALYPSO BAY being severely checked and losing considerable ground. In the front straight MYONA MORPHEUS was bumped by another runner, became momentarily unbalanced and lost ground. AGENT’S CHOICE checked off that runners heels. Out of the front straight, HARA’S HOOK gave ground. Rounding the turn into the front straight, CALYPSO BAY and MYONA MORPHEUS collided and lost ground.

 

HARA’S HOOK underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have sustained an injury to the off hind back muscle. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.

 

CALYPSO BAY underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no significant abnormalities were found.

 

Race 3: THIRTY TALKS @ STUD, Grade 5 – 520m

 

SEDUCTIVE SMILE and ARE JAY LOCHIE were marginally slow to begin. Out of the front straight RAVEN LOCH, WHO NOSE SIZE and ARE JAY LOCHIE all checked off heels and lost ground. Rounding the turn out of the front straight, BLACKHEART BELLA bumped with another runner and lost ground. SEDUCTIVE SMILE which was trailing was checked as a consequence. Entering the back straight, OXLEY ONE was bumped by another runner and momentarily hampered. Out of the back straight SEDUCTIVE SMILE was tightened for room and checked. ARE JAY LOCHIE raced wide for a majority of the event.

 

Race 4: BOX 1 PHOTOGRAPHY, Mixed 4/5 – 520m

 

SUPER CESC was declared a late scratching at 11:12am when stewards were notified by trainer S. Lawrence that the greyhound had sustained an injury to the nearside hind toe. Ms Lawrence was advised the greyhound would be stood down for 10 days and must provide a veterinary certificate.

 

ROCKFORD was slow to begin. Rounding the turn out of the front straight, ALPHA THEMIS and DOLCETTO HAYZE bumped and were momentarily hampered. Out of the back straight ALPHA THEMIS was tightened for room and checked.

 

Race 5: QLD SHORT COURSE FREE FOR ALL FINAL, Open – 331m

 

This event was declared a No-Race when the field caught the lure and came to a stop midway through the home straight. All races were put back one timeslot while repairs were conducted on the lure.

 

Race 6: RACING QUEENSLAND COUNTRY CUP FINAL, Open – 520m

 

CZARNY was declared a late scratching at 5:34pm by the course veterinarian when found to have an injury to the offside back muscle when the greyhound was presented to race during kenneling. A 28 day stand down period was imposed.

 

DALMATYNSKI, HARA’S SKYLAH and FOXY FIREBALL were slow to begin. In the front straight, TINKIES MY MUM and SLOW DANCER were tightened for room and checked. Out of the front straight BETTA BE BUNDY checked off heels. Out of the back straight, SLOW DANCER was tightened for room and checked. Entering the home straight HARA’S SKYLAH collided with another runner and lost ground.

 

Race 7: AUSTRALIA DAY TROPHY FINAL, Open – 520m

 

ARDEN STREET was very slow to begin. In the front straight, LOCH FREDDIE was tightened for room and hampered. Shortly after IT’S DYLLAN was tightened for room and checked. Out of the front straight, CHAMPAGNE SALLY made contact with the running and was momentarily hampered. Rounding the turn into the back straight CHAMPAGNE SALLY was tightened for room and checked. Entering the back straight, ARDEN STREET checked off heels. Out of the back straight BIG BAD BOB improved onto heels and was severely checked. Through the turn into the home straight AMBER MARIE checked off heels. BIG BAD BOB, which was racing to its inside was hampered as a consequence.

 

CHAMPAGNE SALLY underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have sustained an injury to the offside hock. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.

 

Race 8: BOX 1 PHOTOGRAPHY QUEENSLAND CUP FINAL (G3), Open – 600m

 

A false start was declared when the lure failed due to a power failure. Under the provisions of GAR.56(6), all runners underwent a veterinary examination and were passed fit to start. The event was further delayed to allow repairs to the lure. All races were placed back one time slot.

 

Through the turn into the front straight on the first occasion CARIBBEAN RED, CYN’S MAGIC, SLINGSHOT HAMMER and INFRARED STAR were tightened for room and checked to varying degrees. Out of the front straight FIRST FIRE was tightened for room and hampered. Through the turn into the front straight, FIRST FIRE checked off heels and lost ground. CYN’S MAGIC, which was trailing, checked off that runners heels and lost ground. CARIBBEAN RED raced wide rounding the turn out of the back straight and into the home straight.

 

Race 9: GREYHOUND ADOPTION PROGRAM, Mixed 3/4 – 520m

 

Shortly after the start ADHARA STEEL was tightened for room and checked. Out of the front straight, REGAL TOPAZ was tightened for room and checked, and PETA GLEDHILL was tightened for room and severely checked. Rounding the turn into the back straight MAN OF LEISURE checked off heels. Entering the back straight, REGAL TOPAZ checked of heels and lost considerable ground. MAN OF LEISURE, which was trailing, collided with that runner and lost ground. Rounding the turn into the home straight ADHARA STEEL and MAN OF LEISURE bumped on several occasions and lost ground.

 

STEAL A KISS underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have sustained an injury to the offside hind toes. A 28 day stand down period was imposed.

 

Race 10: FABREGAS @ METICULOUS LODGE, Grade 5 – 520m

 

ALPHA CHAOS was very slow to begin. Shortly after the start TOP VILLA was bumped by another runner and lost ground. Approaching the turn out of the front straight, BRITTANY TALKS was tightened for room and checked. Rounding the turn into the back straight, TOP VILLA checked off heels. Out of the back straight, BRITTANY TALKS and ALPHA CHAOS collided and lost ground. Rounding the turn into the home straight, GALWAY LUDWIG checked out off heels. TOP VILLA, which was racing its outside, was hampered as a consequence.

 

Race 11: BOX 1 PHOTOGRAPHY, MA5 – 520m

 

REGAL CYNDIE was slow to begin. At the start DEEJAY FRANKIE and EBONNIE collided and were subsequently slow into stride. In the front straight SON OF BETTY and DEEJAY FRANKIE were tightened for room and checked. Out of the front straight, EBONNIE became momentarily unbalanced and lost ground. Shortly after FERNVALE RUBY and STANKY LEG collided and lost ground. REGAL CYNDIE, which was trailing, improved onto the heels of FERNVALE RUBY resulting both runners to be checked and lose ground. Through the turn into the back straight, SON OF BETTY checked out off heels. DEEJAY FRANKIE and REGAL CYNDIE, which were trailing, were checked as a consequence. Entering the back straight, FERNVALE RUBY was tightened for room and hampered.
