Race Day Stewards’ Report

 

 

Albion Park Greyhounds

Race 1 –TAB| NOVICE GRADE | 520 M

 

Red Hot Gossip was best to begin. Strait Rum and Cherry Wine were both marginally slow. Red Hot Gossip and Mitchell John raced tight and bumped on numerous occasions in the front straight and approaching the first turn, losing ground as they did. At the first turn Merriwa shifted in causing Red Hot Gossip and Mitchell John to be tightened for racing room and lose ground. Shortly after Merriwa shifted out, which majorly inconvenienced Mitchell John and Cherry Wine which were trailing, with those greyhounds losing significant ground. Shortly after that Mitchell John checked off heels and lost further ground. 

Race 2 – MARBURG HOTEL | R/W GRADE | 600M

 Whippy Midget was best to begin. Katie Getzinnis was slow. Approaching the turn leaving the front straight on the first occasion, Chelsea shifted in and collided heavily with Whippy Midget, causing both greyhounds to lose significant ground. Whippy Midget and Chelsea continue to race tight and bump on occasion through the turn into the back straight causing both greyhounds to lose ground. Sorrento which was trailing was also inconvenienced and lost ground as a result of this incident. Approaching the turn out of the back straight, Chelsea was impeded and lost ground. Approaching the turn into the front straight Chelsea was impeded once again and lost further ground.

Chelsea – underwent a post-race veterinary examination which showed no apparent injury.

Race 3 – GARRARD’S HORSE AND HOUND MAIDEN F | 4 /5 GRADE | 395 M

Sleek Style was best to begin. Farmor Image was slow. At the first turn Tooka Trip and Ebony Sands were both tightened for racing room and lost considerable ground.  Leaving the turn out of the back straight Farmor Image improved onto the heels of Western Honey, causing both greyhounds to lose ground. Leaving the turn into the front straight, Sweet Talking was impeded and lost momentum.

Race 4 – THIRTY TALKS @ STUD | 5 GRADE | 395 M

Ringbark Ace was best to begin, Vaquero was slow. Approaching the first turn Hay Honey improved onto the heels of Regal Report causing both greyhounds to lose ground. Shortly after Not Too Bossy was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.

Race 5 – ASPLEY LEAGUES CLUB | 5 GRADE | 520 M

Haigslea Flyer was best to begin. Monica’s Joy was marginally slow. Shortly after the start Ava Surprise and Haigslea Flyer bumped, causing Haigslea Flyer to lose ground. Approaching the turn into the back straight Scanlon shifted out which severely impeded Oblivinator, then checked into Monica’s Joy causing those greyhounds to lose considerable ground as a result. Torah Sprite which was trailing was also inconvenienced and lost ground. Shortly after Oblivinator checked off heels and lost further ground.

Race 6 – EXPAT LODGE BOARDING KENNELS | 4 / 5 GRADE | 520 M

Anjalie and Shakey Diesel were both marginally slow to begin. Approaching the first turn Tail Wag was impeded, then checked off the rear of Belvedere Babe, resulting in both greyhounds losing ground. Kulu Ozzie which was trailing was also severely impeded as a consequence and lost ground. In the turn into the back straight Anjalie checked off heels and lost ground.  

Race 7 – BOX 1 PHOTOGRAPHY 5th GRADE F | 5 GRADE | 520 M

No Clyde Needed was best to begin. Potential was slow. In the front straight on the first occasion and also approaching the first turn, Regal Jade and No Clyde Needed raced tight and bumped on numerous occasions, resulting in both losing ground. At the first turn Genie’s Girl improved onto the heels of Passing Nova, causing both greyhounds to lose ground. Potential which was trailing was also severely inconvenienced and lost ground. Leaving the turn into the back straight Passing Nova improved onto the rear of Genie’s Girl causing both greyhounds to become imbalanced and lose substantial ground.

Genie’s Girl – underwent a veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found. .

Race 8 – GREYHOUND ADOPTION PROGRAM | 2 /3 GRADE | 395 M

Back Play was best to begin. Crazy Emjay was marginally slow. At the first turn the entire field with the exemption of Crazy Emjay and Regal Waz raced tight and checked. Arabella Emjay, Miss Amelia, Never A Doubt and Buddy Tokaam all lost substantial ground as a result of this incident.

Miss Amelia – underwent a veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found. Buddy Tokaam finished a considerable distance behind the remainder of the field.

Buddy Tokaam – underwent a veterinary examination and was found to have sustained an injury to off hind back muscle substantially being stood down from racing for 28 Days.

Race 9 – FABREGAS@METICULOUS LODGE | 4 / 5 GRADE | 331 M

Due to mechanical issues attributed to the lure, which stopped, this race was declared a no race. As these mechanical issues could not be rectified, the remainder of the meeting, being Race 10 was abandoned.
