Race Meeting Stewards’ Report

General:

Due to Government advice around COVID-19, in accordance with GAR 51(10), the Stewards directed the Starter to box the greyhounds into the starting boxes in the following order, 1 & 5, followed by 3 & 7, followed by 2 & 6, followed by 4 & 8 for all races

 

Stewards spoke with Trainer Mr K Snow following up on the injury of How Cool from Sunday 10th May 2020. Mr Snow stated that How cool was examined by and independent veterinarian on the morning of the 11th May, including X-Rays of the off hind leg which found no apparent fractures to any bone. After further examination the veterinarian diagnosed that How cool had torn a ligament in the offside foot. Mr Snow was provided antibiotics and pain relief medication for How Cool and advised to contain How Cool for a period of 2 weeks in order to make further assessment of the injury. Mr Snow will continue to update stewards on How Cool’s recovery.

 

Stewards spoke with Trainer Mr A Hagicostas following up on the injury of Little Turbo from Sunday 10th May 2020. Mr Hagicostas stated that Little Turbo was currently in the care of his local veterinarian and was to undergo surgery on torn ligaments of the nearside hock after X-rays revealed that there was no apparent fractures. Mr Hagicostas will continue to update stewards on Little Turbo’s recovery.

 

Stewards spoke to kennel representative Mr G Hall regarding Hidden Pearl’s injury from Friday 8th May at Ipswich. Mr Hall stated that Hidden Pearl was examined by his local veterinarian which included X-rays of Hidden Pearls shoulders revealing no fractures to any bones. The veterinarian diagnosed only soft tissue damage to the nearside shoulder. Mr Hall will continue to update stewards with the recovery of Hidden Pearl.

 

Supplementary:

Race 3 Who’s Got Fifi - Trainer J Henzell reported to stewards that Who’s Got Fifi, which was reported as injured and received on course veterinary treatment, was  humanely euthanized on 14 May when X-rays of the off side hock revealed extensive bone damage.

  

Race 1 - SENNACHIE @ STUD - STEVE WHITE MAIDEN 2 395m

1 Atomic Mac- Slow to begin. Collided with another runner entering the turn out of the back straight.  

2 Rattie's Son- Tightened for room approaching the turn out of the back straight and was checked. Bumped with another runner when entering the home straight.

3 Riley's Reprieve- Bumped shortly after the start.  

5 Fabio Flash- Wide in both back and front straights.

6 Swift Werina- Collided with another runner shortly after the start and was checked.  

7 In Tune- Collided with another runner entering the back straight and was checked.  

 

Race 2 – SELL YOUR CAR @ MOTORHUB NOVICE 2 395m

2 Special Bill- Quick to begin. Inconvenienced when crossed by another runner though the first turn.  

4 Just In Time- Quick to begin.  

8 Junior's Legacy- Slow to begin. Tightened for room through the turn into the home straight, shifted out to avoid heels and was checked.

 

Race 3 – GARRARD'S HORSE AND HOUND BEST 8 2 395m

2 Redeal- Inconvenienced when racing through the first turn.  

6 Farmor On Fire- Quick to begin.  

 

Race 4 – EXPAT LODGE 5PW 2 395m

2 Valda The Viking- Collided with another runner through the first turn and was checked. Tightened for room approaching the turn out of the back straight. Checked off heels entering the home straight.  

3 Janray Rastus- Collided with another runner through the first turn and was checked. Forced wider on the track and was severely inconvenienced when being marred by inside runner through the turn out of the back straight.   

5 Somerset Jewel- Collided with another runner through the first turn and was checked. 

7 Fabulous Style- Raced wide in the back straight. Forced wider on the track and was severely inconvenienced when racing through the turn out of the back straight.

8 Jonathan's Rose- Slow to begin. Turned its head outwards and made muzzle contact with Janray Rastus through the turn out of the back straight. Stewards spoke to Mr Hamilton, the trainer of Jonathan’s Rose, regarding the greyhound's racing manners through the turn out of the back straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1) Jonathan’s Rose was charged with marring and is suspended for a period of 28 days at Albion Park and must perform a Satisfactory Trial, pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.

 

Race 5 – BOX 1 PHOTOGRAPHY MIXED 4/5 2 395m

1 Pink Adventurine- Quick to begin.

2 Sushi- Slow to begin.

3 Hara's Dazza- Commenced to weaken ground entering the back straight and trailed field. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed an injury to the nearside back muscle and was stood down for a period of 28 days. Acting under the provisions of GAR20(3)(v) stewards ordered a Veterinary certificate for Hara’s Dazza be produced before any future nominations be accepted.  

7 Here I Am- Tightened for room entering the turn out of the back straight, colliding with another runner and was checked.  

8 Te Kiewa Sunrise- Had its heels contacted entering the turn out of the back straight. Tightened for room racing through the turn into the home straight and was inconvenienced.

 

Race 6 – TAB - LONG MAY WE PLAY MIXED 4/5 2 331m

2 Patient Wally- Had its heels contacted when entering the turn out of the back straight and was checked.  

3 Recreational- Collided with another runner shortly after the start and was checked. Collided with another runner entering the home straight and was checked.   

4 Miss Cola- Quick to begin.  

5 Super Cute- Collided with another runner shortly after the start and was checked.  

7 Rapid Effect- Contacted the heels of another runner entering the turn out of the back straight and was checked. Checked entering the home straight. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no significant findings. Stewards requested Mr Priest inform the stewards pursuant to GAR75(2) should anything that might have a bearing on past or future running of Rapid Effect come to notice of the trainer after the greyhound has left the course, it shall be reported to the stewards as soon as practicable.   

8 Boscono- Slow to begin. Forced wider on the track to avoid interference through the turn out of the back straight.   

 

Race 7 – FABREGAS @ METICULOUS LODGE GRADE 5 2 395m

1 Aerobic Zone- Quick to begin.  

2 Hara's Slade- Had its heels contacted approaching the turn out of the back straight.  

3 Who's Got Fifi- Bumped another runner shortly after the start. Contacted the running rail through the first turn and commenced to give ground immediately. Was caught by track staff at the turn into the home straight. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed an injury to the offside hock and was stood down for a period of 90 days. Who’s Got Fifi was provided pain relief medication and the limb was splinted. Mr Henzel stated that he will enlist the services of his veterinarian as soon as practicable. Stewards will follow up with Mr Henzel in the coming days. Acting under the provisions of GAR20(3)(v) stewards ordered a Veterinary certificate for Who’s Got Fifi be produced before any future nominations be accepted.  

5 Onyx Duck- Checked off heels approaching the turn out of the back straight and was checked.  

7 Coconut Lass- Wide in back straight.

 

Race 8 – SKY RACING 5TH GRADE FINAL GRADE 5 2 395m

1 Winning Light- Collided with another runner through the turn out of the back straight and was checked.  

2 Arriba- Collided with another runner through the first turn and was checked. Bumped approaching the finish line. 

3 Dynamic Cyndie- Collided with another runner through the first turn and was checked. 

8 Just Gary- Very slow to begin.

10 (Box 4) Dinah Shian- Collided with another runner through the first turn and was checked. Bumped approaching the finish line.
