Race Reports

 

Race 1 – GREYHOUND ADOPTION PROGRAM MAIDEN HEAT 1 – 431M

 

MADAM KARMAR and FERNANDO BEE were best to begin. BONNIE EILEEN and BLUE JILLEM were slow to begin.  Approaching the first turn, BONNIE EILEEN contacted the hindquarters of GOTCHA GIFT, resulting in both runners to be checked.  Through the first turn, SKYDIVER and FROSTY BLACK JAY were tightened for room and checked.  Rounding the turn into the back straight, FERNANDO BEE shifted inwards and bumped MADAM KARMAR resulting in both greyhounds to be momentarily hampered.  In the back straight, SKYDIVER and FROSTY BLACK JAY raced wide. In the back straight, GOTCHA GIFT and BLUE JILLEM collided, resulting in both runners to be hampered.  Approaching the turn out of the back straight, GOTCHA GIFT was tightened for room and checked.  Shortly after, BONNIE EILEEN and BLUE JILLEM collided, resulting in both runners to be severely checked, fall, and take no further competitive part in the event.  GOTCHA GIFT, SKYDIVER and FROSTY BLACK JAY, which were trailing, were all checked to varying degrees as a consequence.

 

The greyhounds BONNIE EILEEN and BLUE JILLEM underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

 

Race 2 – SKY RACING MAIDEN HEAT 2 – 431M

 

ONE FOR MICK was best to begin.  At the start, LUCKY NOVA was bumped by another runner and subsequently slow to begin.  Rounding the turn into the back straight, CELTIC FEAR and ABOUT READY were bumped by other runners and checked. LYNNY’ HONEY raced wide in the back straight. Rounding the turn out of the back straight, CAPTAIN BLUE was tightened for room and hampered. 

 

Race 3 – WWW.IPSWICHGREYHOUNDS.COM NOVICE – 431M

 

APACHE VILLA and ROYAL PLAY were best to begin.  Rounding the turn into the back straight, APACHE VILLA and ROYAL PLAY bumped on a number of occasions, were checked and lost ground.  Approaching the turn out of the back straight, BROKEN YOLK was tightened for room and was hampered.  Entering the turn out of the back straight, ZIPPING CRONK and ROSDUE GYPSY bumped, resulting in both runners to be hampered.  Rounding the turn into the home straight, ROYAL PLAY checked out across heels. 

 

The greyhound ROSDUE BARISTA underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have sustained an injury to the off hind back muscle and was stood down for a period of 21 days.

 

Race 4 – ALPHA 390 FINANCE 5TH GRADE (1) – 431M

 

Even start.  Shortly after the start, WIGGLE WABBLE and SPRING IVY bumped.  Through the first turn, BRAVE ULYSSES, WIGGLE WABBLE, SPRING IVY, LITTLE LUCK and THUNDER OF FIRE were all tightened for room and checked to varying degrees.  LITTLE LUCK raced wide in the back straight.

Even start.  Entering the first turn, KYLE THE TANK was tightened for room, checked and shifted out.  SPRING COLLEEN, SPRING REINA and HAD BETTER DAZE, which were trailing, were all checked to varying degrees as a consequence.  Over the concluding stages, SHAKEY RANDLE was tightened for room and momentarily hampered. 

 

Race 6 – KAYPAT LODGE 5TH GRADE HEAT 1 – 520M

 

ZILLIE BEAN was slow to begin.  Approaching the first turn, LILLY PILLY LASS was tightened for room and hampered.  Approaching the turn into the back straight, GET SHORTY and NOTORIOUS HERO collided, resulting in both greyhounds to be checked.  LILLY PILLY LASS, which was trailing, was hampered as a consequence.  REACTOR raced wide in the back straight.  Rounding the turn out of the back straight, GET SHORTY was tightened for room and hampered. 

 

Race 7 - WWW.IPSWICHGREYHOUNDS.COM 5TH GRADE HEAT 2 – 520M

 

Even start.  Shortly after the start, APOLLO’S WARRIOR checked off heels.  Approaching the first turn, LILY’S BEAN shifted outwards and tightened the running of LA BAMBA, forcing that runner wider on the track.  APOLLO’S WARRIOR then improved onto the hindquarters of LA BAMBA, resulting in that runner to be severely checked, fall, and take no further competitive part in the event.  APOLLO’S WARRIOR was severely inconvenienced as a result of this incident.  At the same time as this incident, CHIPPIES shifted outwards and bumped ALLPA MAMA, resulting in that runner to be checked.  RATAJKOWSKI, which was trailing, was inconvenienced as a consequence.  Rounding the turn into the home straight, GYPSY WILD collided with DOUBLE SPUR, resulting in that runner to be checked.

 

The greyhound LA BAMBA underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have sustained an injury to the near side hip support and was stood down for a period of 7 days.

 

Race 8 – GREG STERNBERG VET SURGEON BEST 8 – 431M

 

Even start.  Through the first turn, LIGHTNING WHITE, ROAD TO FLAME, LOBCHA, ROSDUE SHAKA and SPRING ROY were all tightened for room and checked to varying degrees.  Rounding the turn out of the back straight, LIGHTNING WHITE was tightened for room, checked and lost ground.

 

Race 9 - WWW.IPSWICHGREYHOUNDS.COM 5TH GRADE (2) – 431M

 

SIAMESE DREAM, SPRING WINE and NASH TATO were all marginally slow to begin.  Through the first turn, ALPHA PHOEBE was tightened for room and checked.  SIAMESE DREAM, which was trailing, was checked as a consequence.  Rounding the turn into the back straight, SPRING WINE improved onto the hindquarters of JUST LIKE YAZZA, resulting in that runner to be checked and lose ground.  Shortly after, ALPHA PHOEBE was tightened for room, severely checked and lost considerable ground. NASH TATO raced wide for the majority of the event. 

 

Race 10 – MALE TRAINER OF THE YEAR 2008 – JOHN EDWARDS 5TH GRADE (3) – 431M

 

REGAL SAPPHIRE and HONEY’S PRINCESS were best to begin.  Through the first turn, ALPHA HESTIA shifted outwards and tightened the running of AL BRUTON, BERGARI and DEBREE BONUS, resulting in those runners to be hampered.  ROSDUE KIRRA, which was trailing, was checked as a consequence.  Rounding the turn into the back straight, BERGARI was tightened for room and checked.  Rounding the turn out of the back straight, DEBREE BONUS shifted inwards and collided with another runner, was severely checked and lost considerable ground.  REGAL SAPPHIRE raced wide rounding the turn into the home straight.  Over the concluding stages, REGAL SAPPHIRE contacted the hindquarters of HONEY’S PRINCESS, resulting in both runners to become momentarily unbalanced.
