GENERAL
 
Following the running of Race 2 a number of riders were found to be in possession of a mobile phone in the male jockeys’ room in contravention of AR218(4) and were dealt with as follows:
 
          N. Day – pleaded guilty – fined $300 – recent infringement taken into account.
 
A.    Butler – pleaded guilty – fined $200.

          N. Seymour – pleaded guilty – fined $200.
 
          App. S. Tomlinson – pleaded guilty – fined $200.

          App. N. Fazackerley – pleaded guilty – fined $200.      
 
Jockey Tennelle Gray also pleaded guilty to a charge of being in possession of a mobile phone in the female jockeys’ room and was fined $200.
 
RACE 1: TOOTHKIND QTIS 2YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1050M
 
INDISPENSABLE – The saddle shifted after leaving the enclosure, requiring the colt to be resaddled behind the barriers. Tightened approaching the 600m. Raced wide throughout.
 
RUN RAMPANT – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer G. Newham was advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
 
DIYOSA – As apprentice J. Hodge was unable to claim any of his allowance, stewards permitted him to ride the filly when no other apprentice riders were available. Apprentice Hodge was fined $200. Began awkwardly and shifted in.
 
SUMMER SALT – Began awkwardly, shifted in and made contact with XUANNU. E. Ljung reported that her mount was inclined to hang in throughout the event. Obliged to steady from the heels of XUANNU when racing greenly near the 500m and shifted wider on the course.
 
TOFFIE LADY – Proved difficult to load. Stumbled as the start was effected before mustering speed and working forward. Raced wide throughout. Hung in momentarily approaching the 600m, tightening INDISPENSABLE.
 
UNTOLD SECRETS – Stewards permitted apprentice S. Tomlinson to ride the filly claiming only 2.5kg of his 3kg allowance when no other apprentice riders were available. Apprentice Tomlinson was fined $100. Began awkwardly and shifted in abruptly as the start was effected. Momentarily tightened approaching the 600m and  began to overrace.
 
WOOLSEY – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
 
XUANNU – Bumped at the start.
 
ZOFF THE BOSS – Hampered between runners at the start and lost ground.
 
Race 2: THE JIMBOOMBA TIMES MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M
 
HARRYUP – Made the turn near the 700m awkwardly and shifted wider on the course.
 
COOK IT CHARLIE – Near the 900m was obliged to steady from the heels of CLICKETY CLICKS which, when racing keenly, shifted out marginally. Returned to the enclosure with blood in the nearside nostril. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the presence of blood in the left nostril as a result of making contact with the barriers. Trainer D. Murphy was also advised that an endoscopic examination would be required to be undertaken prior to the gelding’s return to racing.
 
SKALD – Bumped on jumping. Shifted in near the 900m, making contact with COOK IT CHARLIE. Inclined to lay in when placed under pressure over the final 250m and proved difficult to ride.
 
IDIDITMYWAY – Began very slowly and lost ground. A warning was placed on the mare’s racing manners.
 
OYSTER – Began awkwardly and shifted in.
 
Race 3: AUSTRALIAN COMMUNITY MEDIA BENCHMARK 58 H'CAP – 1300M
 
SAYONARAMOSA – Slow into stride. Overraced in the early stages. Shifted in leaving he 500m, causing tightening to LWAZI, before being corrected by the rider.
 
WASHINGTON STREET – Proved difficult to load, delaying the start. Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s manners. Slow into stride.
 
BOBBY AXELROD – Began awkwardly, momentarily unbalancing its rider.
 
LORD OF THE DREAMZ – T. Gray pleaded guilty to charges under AR132(7)(a)(i) and (ii) in that she used the whip on 14 occasions prior and in consecutive strides prior to the 100m. Jockey Gray was fined $200.
 
LWAZI – Raced four wide for the majority of the event. Shifted in near the 600m and was obliged to steady from the heels of SAYONARAMOSA. Tightened for room leaving the 500m and was obliged to ease between WASHINGTON STREET and SAYONARAMOSA, which shifted in.
 
Race 4: THE ZONTA CENTENNIAL BENCHMARK 58 H'CAP – 1650M
 
The declaration of correct weight was delayed when stewards reviewed the start of the race. Trainer A. Plumb, apprentice N. Fazackerley and starter K. Watson were also present. On a review of the patrol footage it was established that SAN PIERRE, which had drawn the widest barrier, being barrier 9, in fact started from barrier 10 and had a vacant stall to its inside. Prior to the start of the event, the Chairman of Stewards notified the starter via two-way to alert him that there was a vacant stall, however, shortly after, the start was effected. Trainer A. Plumb and stewards were satisfied that notwithstanding the horse starting one barrier wider than it should have, the horse’s chances had not been materially affected. When questioned as to why his mount started from the incorrect gate, apprentice N. Fazackerley stated that he notified barrier staff that he was to start from barrier 9, however, he was placed one barrier wider in barrier 10. Stewards intend to review the circumstances of the incident.
 
EIRA – Held up between the 300m and the finishing line and was unable to be fully tested.
 
VOANABA – Obliged to steady from the heels of CHOPPA near the 1300m when CHOPPA shifted in and away from STELLAR JEWEL, which was racing tight to its outside. Blundered rounding the home turn.
 
CHOPPA – Pulled hard passing the post on the first occasion and continued to overrace for approximately the next 400m.
 
STELLAR JEWEL – Raced three wide for the majority of the event.
 
Race 5: GREENER GROCER BENCHMARK 58 H'CAP – 2450M
 
GOTHIC ROMANCE – Inclined to lay in after beginning moderately, causing FLYING SEBA and CHAKEELA to be tightened for racing room. Rider C. Eaton was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. As a result, GOTHIC ROMANCE was bumped on the hind quarters and turned inwards. Obliged to steady when placed in restricted room approaching the home turn.
 
SKY ONE – Bumped on the hind quarters at the start by ALFIE JUNIOR and turned inwards.
 
SAIBYE – Bumped by CHAKEELA on jumping.
 
CHAKEELA – Tightened for room shortly after jumping. Overrace in the early stages.
 
ALFIE JUNIOR – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped SKY ONE on the hind quarters, turning that runner in. Raced wide for the majority of the event. Hung in when under pressure approaching the home turn, tightening GOTHIC ROMANCE, which was obliged to steady.
 
FLYING SEBA – Tightened for room shortly after jumping.
 
Race 6: BEAUDESERT PRINTING CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1100M
 
MIRACLE WORKER – Bumped on jumping by MISS  BANG. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
FORSOX – Reared as the start was effected and lost ground.
 
GREYT LOVE – Disappointed for a run between MIRACLE WORKER and GENG leaving the 200m and shortly thereafter was obliged to be eased when bumped by MIRACLE WORKER which was inclined to lay in. GREYT LOVE was then forced inwards, bumping GENG, which became unbalanced.
 
MISS  BANG – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Raced three wide with cover.
 
THAT’S MADNESS – Held up for clear running until the 150m.
 
GENG – Became unbalanced when bumped by GREYT LOVE leaving the 200m.
 
Race 7: THE BEAUDESERT TIMES CUP OPEN H'CAP – 1400M
 
YABA DABL DOYA – Slow into stride and shortly thereafter was obliged to steady between CHARLIE CAT and OUR ROCKY. Hung in noticeably over the final 150m.
 
CHARLIE CAT – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
OUR ROCKY – Began awkwardly, making contact with the barrier partition.
