GENERAL
Race 6 – Petite Elle was re-handicapped to 57kg (+2kg) following the mare winning at Dalby 22 January 2021.

Race 1: TAB QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1400 metres

BOOM SPENDER – Began awkwardly. Hung out for the majority of the event. Rider M Du Plessis dropped his whip near the 400 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

ATLANTIC ROYAL – Near the 250 metres steadied when awkwardly placed to the outside of BOOM SPENDER which hung out. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering from mild heat stress.

MISHANI MACHINE – Near the 1000 metres was momentarily steadied when awkwardly placed close to the rail after shifting in and away from COMFORTABLY NUMB.

COMFORTABLY NUMB – Restrained to gain cover near the 1000 metres.

THE RED DANCER – Began awkwardly.


Race 2: TAB Class 4 Handicap 1200 metres

KRAKATOA ERUPTION – Raced keenly in the early stages.

FAT MAX – Cast near fore plate in running.


Race 3: TAB Colts, Geldings and Entires BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1100 metres

ROCKY NUGGET – Tactics queries – led. Rider J Orman stated that he was given no specific instructions however was of the opinion that the gelding would settle behind the leaders. Further added that after beginning well he elected to ride the gelding positively and lead. Trainer G Cornish when questioned in related to the improved performance stated that the gelding did not handle the heavy 9 track conditions and was eased down at its most recent start and has since jumped out successfully at Beaudesert on 14 January 2021.

CALL ME LEGEND – Slow to begin. Performed below market expectation. When questioned rider B Ainsworth stated that the gelding was dropping back in distance today and was out paced in the early stages however she noted that gelding finished off well and in her opinion would be better suited to races over further distances.

SOLID ASSET – Raced wide without cover.

ZOOMFIELD – Over raced in the early and middle stages.

AONACH MOR – Raced wide with cover.


Race 4: TAB Maiden Plate 1650 metres

ROYAL GEORGE – Raced wide without cover for the majority.

WAIKATO – Raced wide in the early stages before being permitted to stride forward and lead. Attempted to jump the crossing at the 1200 metres.

EULEILAH – Raced wide in the early stages before gaining cover near the 1200 metres.

SEBRING LASS – Raced wide with cover for the majority.

SOMNIA – Change of tactics – to be ridden more positive if circumstances permit. Settled mid field. Raced keenly in the early stages.

FOUND THE MARK – After being crossed passing the winning post on the first occasion near the 1400 metres began to over race when the pace steadied and as result was awkwardly placed on the heels of EIGHTYTHREE BRICKS.

KUNGFLU – Rider M Du Plessis reported that his mount laid out.


Race 5: TAB BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1650 metres

CLEO'S POET – Performed below market expectation – Rider R Wiggins reported that in his opinion he felt the gelding may have come to the end of its current preparation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer T Butts advised that the gelding will be spelled.

PRINCE OF ARRAN – Near the 1200 metres was inconvenienced by POINT THE WAGON which had lost ground. Raced wide without cover from the 1200 metres.

POLE VOLTER – Over raced passing the 1400 metres and was steadied to avoid the heels of LOPE FOR JOYA.

POINT THE WAGON – Near the 1200 metres made the crossing awkwardly resulting in its rider becoming unbalanced and losing ground.

RIVER OF LOVE – Raced wide without cover. Near the 1200 metres inconvenienced and carried wider by PRINCE OF ARRAN which shifted out to avoid POINT THE WAGON which had lost ground.


Race 6: TAB Fillies and Mares BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1100 metres

LA MAESTRA – Steadied approaching the 600 metres when JOJO GO shifted in. Upon straightening laid in before being straightened by its rider.

L'AMANTE – Near the 600 metres tightened before being steadied when JOJO GO (C Taylor) shifted in before being straightened. Rider C Taylor (JOJO GO) was severely reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift ground.

JOJO GO – Raced wide without cover until passing the 600 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

DREAM WEAVING – Began awkwardly and shifted in and bumped HEDONIE. In the home straight laid in and near the 100 metres clipped the heels of JOJO GO.

SILVAPLANA – Near the 600 metres shifted out away from the heels of LA MAESTRA.

DUBLE GAZE – Checked at the start between SILVAPLANA and HEDONIE which had been carried in by DREAM WEAVING.

MISS BULITZ – Change of tactics – to be ridden with cover if circumstances permit. Settled mid field. Cast near fore plate in running.

SIZZLING DIAMOND – Slow to begin.

HEDONIE – Raced wide without cover.

PETITE ELLE – Inconvenienced at the start by DREAM WEAVING which shifted in. Hung out from the 600 metres.


Race 7: TAB BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1400 metres

SISTER KATHLEEN – Raced wide without cover.

HEART VANDELAY – Raced wide without cover. Performed below market expectation. Rider J Stanley stated that he was instructed to ride the gelding in a forward position and further added that HEARTS VANEDLAY raced flat and was under pressure to maintain a position. Rider J Stanley was of the opinion that the gelding may have come to the end of its preparation. Trainer S Livingstone stated that it was her intention to continue with the gelding’s preparation and was of the opinion that HEARTS VANDELAY did not handle the Beaudesert track. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.

SAN PIERRE – Raced wide with cover. Near the 150 metres was steadied when racing tight between HEARTS VANDELAY and SISTER KATHLEEN which shifted in.

CHEVRONS'N'ROCKERS – Crowded shortly after the start and lost ground when SAN PIERRE was carried out by BRONZED VENOM.
