GENERAL

Stewards and a delegation of riders inspected a section of the track from the 750m to the 650m, which had been adversely affected by an overnight irrigation malfunction. As the area in question was a considerable distance away from the inside running rail all parties agreed that the race meeting should proceed.

Race 1: FILBYS MOTORS QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1000m

MILKY ROCKET - Due to a critical rider shortage at today’s race meeting Stewards permitted Jockey C Spry to ride 1.5kg over the colt’s allocated weight. This information was released via social media on Friday June 4th. Reluctant to load. Trainer J Manzelmann was advised a warning would be placed on the colt’s barrier manners. Began awkwardly and was buffeted between runners soon after jumping.

MISS STARLIGHT - Bumped with another runner on jumping.

CALPURNIA - Bumped with another runner on jumping. Inclined to shift ground under pressure down the running.

CHEYENNE BEACH - Bumped with another runner after being slowly into stride.

ALPHA BLUE - Fractious in the barrier. Shifted out on jumping hampering another runner. Inconvenienced passing the 700m by a runner to its outside which was hanging in. Raced wide for the majority.

MAHKOTA ROSE - Momentarily hampered passing the 700m.

HERO’S CHOICE - Hung in for the majority hampering runners to its inside passing the 700m. Trainer R Cussons was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners.

Race 2: PILCHERS CONCRETE OPEN HANDICAP 1000m

PERFECT KNOWLEDGE - As Jockey F Edwards was to be overweight Jockey M Haley was substituted as rider of the gelding. Stewards took into consideration extenuating circumstances surrounding Jockey Edwards’ engagement for the ride and issued him with a reprimand under the provisions of AR190(3).

SEVEN YEAR REWARD - Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running.

Race 3: TICS GROUP BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200m

LODESTAR - Shifted out passing the 200m inconveniencing another runner.

JOHNNY WHITESOX - Shifted out on jumping bumping with another runner. Inclined to race ungenerously throughout.

CEEBIZ KIT - Buffeted between runners on jumping. Raced wide throughout.

KEIGHLEY SUN - Shifted in on jumping bumping with another runner. Raced wide throughout.

OVERSEAS (NZ) - Slowly into stride. Inconvenienced by another runner which shifted out passing the 200m.

CHEESE BURGER - Jockey M Haley was cautioned in relation to his use of the whip on a runner not in contention.

Race 4: TINCONE RATINGS BAND 0-60 HANDICAP 1000m

NATURE DEEL - Severely hampered on jumping when a runner to its outside shifted in.

DOUBLE EM - Began awkwardly and shifted in severely hampering a runner to its inside.

MAN O’ ROSS - Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped with another runner.

GOHARDONHULA - Bumped by another runner on jumping.

HOWYALIKEMENOW - Raced wide for the majority.

Race 5: HILLERY GROUP WHITSUNDAY CUP BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1470m

MISHANI FORTUNE – As no other rider was available Stewards permitted Jockey C Spry to ride 0.5kg over the filly’s allocated weight.

MURTALLICA - After breaking a stirrup iron during loading, and due to no replacement iron being available, was declared a late withdrawal by order of Stewards at 3:41pm. Prior to the declaration of Correct Weight Stewards ordered that all monies wagered on the mare be refunded in full and further that all successful wagers placed on the event prior to the time of scratching be subject to the following deductions in the dollar on the face value of the betting ticket:

1st placed ANNMARIE 9 cents win / 10 cents place
2nd placed HONEST NATALIE 8 cents place
3rd placed BATTLE 8 cents place

LETS TORQUE A DEEL - Slowly into stride.

HONEST NATALIE - Slowly into stride. Raced tight with another runner rounding the 650m turn and, soon after, commenced to lay in hampering runners to its inside. Inclined to shift in under pressure passing the 100m. Raced wide for the majority. Jockey P Cullen advised the mare had proven difficult to ride throughout. Trainer M McLellan was advised a warning would be placed on the mare’s racing manners.

MISHANI FORTUNE - Slowly into stride. Hampered by another runner which was inclined to lay in rounding the 650m turn.

POSITIVE SPIN - Raced ungenerously for some distance passing the 1300m.

ANNMARIE - Raced wide until a point near the 700m.

BATTLE - Raced tight with another runner rounding the 650m turn. Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running. Raced wide for the majority.

Race 6: MI SCAFFOLD BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP 1280m

WONDER IF (NZ) – The gelding, which competed at Townsville on Thursday June 3rd underwent a pre-race Veterinary inspection and was cleared to start. Raced wide for the majority. Restrained after being directed inwards and improving onto heels near the 150m. App S Gittos who was cautioned in relation to his use of the whip on a runner not in contention was advised he would be referred to the Racing Queensland Rider Advisory Skills Panel for further guidance.

WRITTEN IMAGE- Bumped with another runner on jumping. Raced ungenerously passing the 650m. Raced wide for the majority.

GRACEFUL ZARIFA - Bumped with another runner on jumping. Obliged to steady momentarily passing the 650m.

DOUBLE MAJOR - Bumped with another runner on jumping.

ZEBLAN - Bumped with another runner on jumping. Restrained after improving onto heels near the 1100m. Had to be restrained and directed out around heels passing the 200m when disappointed for clear running.

SAPPHIRE WINGS - Raced ungenerously when placed in restricted room for some distance passing the 1000m.

ARTE ET MARTE - Raced wide for the majority.

HERSHISER – On returning to scale Jockey S Sheargold reported that the front gates on the gelding’s allocated barrier had been slow to open. Head-on patrol footage of the race start confirmed this to be the case. As HERSHISER finished in 4th placing Stewards acting under the provisions of AR204(1)(d) declared Correct weight on the Judge’s numbers and took no further action other than to advise the Bowen Turf Club that remedial work would be required to ensure the barriers were functioning properly prior to next race meeting.
