General
Jockey C.Bryen was overweight for his engaged ride in race three on Malibu Affair. Due to no other rider being available stewards permitted Jockey Bryen to ride four kilograms overweight. As Jockey Bryen was to be overweight in race five on Sir Cass, Stewards replaced him with Jockey C. Schumacher. Jockey Bryen was fined $300 under AR190 (3).
Race 1 - QUILPIE SHIRE COUNCIL/BRANDON & ASSOCIATES MAIDEN PLATE 1100m
We Call Her Lola – Dipped at the start and lost ground.
Darts – Tightened for room for a short distance after the start by a runner to the outside.
Not A Single Women – Began awkwardly making contact with another runner to the inside.
Waltzing My Hilda – Dipped at the start and lost ground. Raced wide without cover throughout.
Dark Rocker – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
Murtibella – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
Race 2 - NEIL MANSELL TRANSPORT CLASS B HANDICAP 1100m
Mulga Thumper – Began awkwardly making contact with the inside barrier petition.
Trail Buster – Stewards permitted Apprentice J. Morrow to ride three kilograms overweight due to no other rider being available.
La Voglia – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
Super Kean – Reared at the start and lost ground.
Race 3 -THE MACK TRUCK QUILPIE NEWMARKET OPEN HANDICAP 1100m
Another Weapon – Began awkwardly.
Crawfish – Tightened for room shortly after the start by runners either side.
Bendebien – Began awkwardly.
Rosie’s Son – Upon returning to scale, Apprentice A. Bakos reported that she lost her whip leaving the 100m and was forced to ride hands and heels for the remainder of the event.
Exstratum – Fractious in barriers, Over raced for a short distance approaching the 900m.
Race 4 - THE BILL & KJ COSTELLO MEMORIAL CLASS 2 PLATE 1200m
Forsyth – Hampered by another unner to the outside at the start. Raced three wide without cover throughout.
Vimstinction – Began awkwardly making contact with another runner to the inside.
A Real Jem – Raced in restricted room for a short distance approaching the 1100m.
Goolburra Guy – Began awkwardly.
Part The Sea – Refused to load. Declared a late scratching by order of the stewards at 2:25pm. Stewards ordered that all monies invested in Part The Sea be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
14 cents in the dollar for the win - #3
18 cents in the dollar for the place of winner - #3
13 cents in the dollar for 2nd placegetter – #4
27 cents in the dollar for 3rd placegetter - #6
After taking into consideration the submissions of trainer R. Fraser, Stewards advised him a warning would be placed on the horse.
Race 5 - THE BROWN & HURLEY QUILPIE CUP BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1600m
If By Chance – Stood flat footed and lost ground. Stewards advised trainer B. Johnson a warning would be placed on the horse.
No further racing incidents.
Race 6 - THE MICHAEL PAULSEN MEMORIAL QTIS RATINGS BAND 0 - 50 HANDICAP 1400m
Zooming – Began awkwardly making contact with another runner to the outside.
Auric Gold – Hampered by another runner to the outside upon jumping and lost ground. Over raced for a short distance approaching the 1200m.
Shoneck Affair – Began awkwardly.
Nothing To Dance – Began awkwardly.
