GENERAL:

As J. Watkin was to be overweight on MOTUEKA RIVER and ZANDAYE he was replaced as per Stewards Race day Summary. Subsequently J. Watkins was fined $100, in assessing penalty stewards took into consideration his recent good record.

RACE 1: RAHEEN STUD MAIDEN PLATE - 1100M

IVY LANE – Bumped at the start. App. M. Wishart accidentally dropped her whip near the 150m.

NOT A SINGLE WOMAN – Bumped at the start.

THAT’S CORRECT – Underwent a prerace veterinary examination as the gelding had not raced since August 2017, subsequently cleared fit to race. Raced wide throughout.

WALTZING MY HILDA – Got its head down as the start was effected and lost significant ground. Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

RACE 2: PETER MOODY BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP - 1400M

HIDDEN ROAD – Began awkwardly. Commenced to weaken approaching the home turn. Post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.

STORM SYSTEM – Apprentice M. Wishart reported that the gelding resented the kickback. Post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.

THIN DISGUISE – Raced wide from the 800m.

THIRD ROCK – Rider S. Sweedman accidentally dropped his whip near the 200m.


RACE 3: GORDON LINES MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP - 800M


DUKE OF YORK – Near the 600m was tightened for room and lost ground.

YOKAI – Began awkwardly. Near the 700m had to be steadied. Post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.

ANGEL OF WAR – Knuckled at the start.

RACE 4: RAHEEN STUD QTIS CLASS 2 HANDICAP - 1000M

BABY MERLIN – Shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages.

MARGOT – Shifted out over the concluding stages.

MUDCRAB – Knuckled at the start.

TENT LOVER – Raced wide throughout.

ROSOVER – Tightened for room shortly after the start.

VIMSTINCTION – Raced wide throughout.

LARBAUD – Laid in over the concluding stages.

RACE 5: CHARLEVILLE NEWMARKET/2019 TAB BATTLE OF THE BUSH CENTRAL WARREGO QUALIFIER OPEN HANDICAP - 1200M

ZENDAYE was a declared a late scratching at 3pm at the request of Trainer H. Forster, as J. Watkins was to be overweight and in his opinion no other suitable rider was available.

Stewards permitted S. Sweedman to ride HANOVER SQUARE 1kg overweight. Jockey Sweedman was reprimanded, stewards took into consideration his recent good record.

MURPHY’S HUSTLER – Blundered at the start and lost ground.

TAPESTRY VISION – Near the 800m, tightened for room and had to be eased when DUCK IN DUBAI laid in away from MALIBU AFFAIR which shifted in. Jockey S. McGovern (MALIBU AFFAIR) was advised to exercise more care.

DUCK IN DUBAI – Began awkwardly. Laid in in the home straight.
