Stewards opened an inquiry into a bottle of Ace being found in the float of Licensed trainer Mr Patrick Sexton. Stewards took initial evidence from Mr Sexton and have adjourned the matter for a later date.
Race 1:THANK YOU COCKATOO CREEK BRAHMANS BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP – 1030m
CAMARILLO – Began awkwardly.
CALCULATED RISK – Shifted in under pressure in the home straight.
STRIVE TO SUCCEED – Raced in restricted room for a short distance leaving the 850m.
THE CARPENTER – Raced wide without cover throughout.
POWERFUL LASS – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
THE OLD BIRD – Slow to begin. Slow into stride.
Race 2:STAY OVER ON ZELLER OPEN HANDICAP – 1030m
RATHER SALUBRIOUS – Fractious in barriers. Began awkwardly.
MUSIC SCENE – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Jockey B. Newport was reprimanded under AR.132(7)(a)(ii) for his use of the whip prior to the 100m.
Race 3:LITTLE TRICKY'S CLEANING MAIDEN PLATE – 1200m
ZOFFDACHARTS – Began awkwardly.
GOLDEN WHITT – Failed to muster early speed. Raced three wide without cover from the 800m.
CRAIGLEA DANIEL – Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground. Forced to shift in to obtain clear running leaving the 200m.
STORMZONE – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
Race 4:TAYLORED POWER SOLUTIONS CLASS B HANDICAP – 1200m
MISS BULITZ – Began awkwardly.
MY BOY MISCHKE – Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground.
FREEDOM REIGN – Began awkwardly. Upon returning to scale, Apprentice S. Stephan advised that her mount felt awkward in its action throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer B. Murray was advised the mare would require a veterinary certificate prior to returning to racing.
KITTY KAT’S KITTEN – Began awkwardly. Tailed off at the 800m taking no further competitive part int the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have bled from both nostrils. Trainer J. Armstrong was advised the mare would be barred from racing for a period of three months and must complete a 1000m gallop to the satisfaction of stewards prior to retuning to racing.
Race 5:SPECIALTY SERVICES QLD BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP – 1400m
VERMUTIN – Began awkwardly.
SHINING BLUE – Raced wide without cover throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
No further racing incidents.
