Supplementary Report
 
Stewards inquired  into an incident that took place on Friday, 18 January 2019 when a horse was being educated at the barriers. After hearing evidence from trainer/track rider Mr S Cooper, trainer R. Miller and Track Curator Mr A. Glasser, it was established that Mr Cooper and Mr Miller were attempting to educate thoroughbred filly Kensington Lass with barrier practice the filly proved very difficult to load. Subsequently Mr Cooper pleaded guilty to a charge under AR175(q), namely improper conduct in that as the rider of the filly over an extended period of time he did use excessive force Mr Cooper was fined the sum of $500 and was further advised that such actions would not be condoned.
 
Mr Miller pleaded guilty to a charge under AR175(q), namely improper conduct in that he allowed the track rider to use excessive force over a period of time. Mr Miller was fined the sum of $500 and advised that this method of barrier practice would not be condoned.
 
 
 
 
 
 
Race 1: Norlift QTIS 2yo Maiden Plate – 950m
 
EL OF A SAGA – Delayed the start after proving difficult to load. Raced greenly for the majority of the race. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
GREYSERENE – Slow to begin.
 
ZULU JET – Slow into stride. Raced greenly in the early stages. A post race veterinary examination  revealed no abnormalities. Trainer F. Wieland was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s competitiveness.
 
FAST CHIPS – Raced greenly in the home straight.
 
ORIENTAL GIRL – Raced greenly in the home straight.
 
MAX HENRY – Raced greenly for the majority of the race.
 
VAMPARINA – Raced greenly in the home straight. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
LUCKY ANGUS – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
 
Race 2: Coral Coast Catering QTIS 3yo Maiden H’cap – 950m
 
ADOREE – Declared a late scratching at 12.12 on veterinary advice. Trainer R. Nelson was advised he must provide a veterinary clearance for the horse prior to the horse being permitted to race again.
 
JACK REACHER – Slow to begin.
 
TOY – Slow to begin. Shifted in near the 300m, crowding another runner.
 
RESADOWSKA – Slow to begin.
 
NOBLE SQUAW – Slow to begin. Steadied off heels in the middle stages.
 
DIAMOZU – Began awkwardly.
 
EVIE CAT – Shifted in and away from another runner near the 300m, placing another runner in restricted room.
 
GOLDEN CHARLES – Commenced to hang out soon after straightening when placed under pressure and continued to do so, shifting to the outside running rail. Trainer M. Lee was advised that the horse must trial to the satisfaction of the stewards before being permitted to race again.
 
MUZANBOAL ROUGE – Placed in restricted room leaving the 300m by another runner, having to be steadied.
 
Race 3: FGF Bitumen QTIS 3yo Maiden H’cap – 950m
 
SECRET BANG BANG – Was fractious during its preliminary in the saddling enclosure and slipped over. A veterinary examination behind the barriers, prior to the start cleared the horse to race.
 
KENSINGTON LASS – The start was delayed significantly when the horse refused to load, and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 1.39 pm. On the announcement of correct weight, all monies were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable.
 
2 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets
4 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets for the place
4 cents in the dollar on the face value of 2nd place bets
3 cents in the dollar on the face value of 3rd pace bets
 
Trainer R. Miller was advised that a further barrier certificate must be provided prior to its next race start.
 
MADEMOISELLE POLLY – Slow to begin. Finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination  revealed no abnormalities. Trainer G Horner was advised that the horse’s nomination would be refused at TAB meetings until such time as its form improved by way of country meetings.
 
LOVEISALL YOUNEED – Hung in near the 500m and then again hung in when placed under pressure in the home straight, shifting in and crowding another runner despite the efforts of its rider.
 
CRAIGLEA OPTIMA – Raced wide for the majority of the race. Whilst stewards noted it was the gelding’s first start, trainer A. Bailey was nevertheless advised that a warning would be placed on the horse’s competitiveness.
 
EXCEEDING ASSASSIN – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
 
Race 4: Edmonton Plumbing Class 6 H’cap – 950m
 
CRIMSON HALO – Slow to begin.
 
ARCHIE’S SON – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
COHESION – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
SABA LASS – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
 
 
 
 
 
Race 5: Australasian Point Of Sale Solutions Class 3 Plate – 950m
ROSE OF KALLONI – Bounded in the air as the start was effected, becoming very unbalanced and causing the rider to become unbalanced and as a result lost considerable ground.
 
SAMBA RIO – Made the 700m crossing very awkwardly and lost ground.
 
KEEN INSTINCT – Shifted in under riding near the 250m, making contact with the inside running rail and having to be steadied.
 
 
Race 6: La Pizza Trattoria Class 3 Plate 0 950m
 
HE’S BLESSED – Slow to begin.
 
CENTRE RED – Slow to begin.
 
LANSALA – Slow to begin.
 
KAP IT OFF – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
SIDTHEKID – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
LAKOTA SIOUX – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
INDELICACY – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
 
Race 7: Cashcor Engineering QTIS 3yo H’cap – 1250m
 
JUEUN IN NEW YORK – Jumped inwards at the start, making heavy contact with its off side shoulder on the barrier partition. After travelling a short distance, rider C. Jokic explained the horse was awkward in its action and as such she retired the horse from the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be sore in its off-side shoulder.  Trainer R. Baker was advised that a veterinary clearance must be provided before the horse would be permitted to start again.
 
FLINDERS HIWAY – Made the 1000m turn awkwardly and again near the 800m.
 
SHUNTER – Shifted out near the 1000m, bumping another runner.
 
GREY FALCON – Bumped by another runner near the 1000m and shifted out, inconveniencing another runner.
 
GROOVY PLAYMATE – Inconvenienced near the 1000m by another runner, which was forced outwards.  Checked near the 200m when placed in restricted room by a runner which shifted in when tiring.
MISS ESTER – Shifted in when tiring near the 200m, placing another runner in restricted room.  Rider K. Rockett was advised to show greater care in similar circumstances.
 
 
Race 8: PMC Plaster Metal Cladding Open H’cap – 1250m
 
HOT SAGA – Began awkwardly and shifted out, bumping another runner.
 
ROAD FOX – Bumped by another runner on jumping. Made the 1000m turn awkwardly and had to be steadied when crowded for room.
 
GREEN ANCHOR – Raced ungenerously approaching the 1000m turn and shifted in marginally, crowding runners to its inside.  Whilst stewards noted the racing manners of the gelding, trainer B. Pengelly was advised to show greater care in similar circumstances.
 
 
Race 9: Hire A Hubby Bayview Class 2 H’cap – 1250m
 
FRED’S GIFT – Began awkwardly.
 
POWER OF DIVAS – Checked near the 500m and lost ground when tightened for room by another runner, which hung in.
 
TOFF ROCKS – Hung in despite the efforts of its rider near the 500m, causing another runner to be checked. Continued to hang in rounding the home turn. Trainer A. Patterson was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners.
 
RED FACETS – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

JETINTOIT- Slow to begin.
 
GUNGA GALUNGA – Slow to begin.
